CovCath hosting Ohio D1 Wilmington on Tuesday night. Wilmington is VERY good, top 5 in Ohio good, and led by an Ohio Mr Basketball candidate who is committed to UC.

Mike Murphy Classic in Maysville on Monday, 2:00 Simon Kenton vs. Montgomery Co. possibly could be #1's in both 8th and 10th Regions. At worst one of top teams from each kick off tournament. Haven't seen either team, but understand this will be bigs from Kenton Co. vs. speeds from Mt. sterling.

 

8:00 game will be the little Davids of Augusta vs. Goliaths from Mason Co. Little river school of 55 boys in 9-12 vs. traditional 10th Region power with 800+ students, multiple Ky State Championships, multiple Mr. Ky Basketballs, ex-players with their jerseys hanging in Rupp, multiple players that played D1 with several going on to NBA, and currently multiple playing professionally in Europe, multiple Hall of Fame Coaches, and a home gym that seats more bottoms than any two 9th Region high school gyms combined. Augusta starts five guards (tallest is 6'1" and slowly recovering from knee surgery). Only a couple of players can touch the rim, guaranteed none of them can dunk. But, if you want to see old style hustle, grit, running and gunning the trip to Maysville to watch these little guys battle will bring lots of smiles. Will start with easy, scenic drive down AA, cheap gas at Valero, awesome gym with plenty of great seats, concessions that efficiently get you back to the game quickly, and a guaranteed battle between the Bullies from the Big School that are sure hoping Hinson's departure will make this game a comfortable walkover.

Thanks for the recommendations!! I would not have gone to the HC/NCC game without your recommendations. It was a great game!! I think I'll post again next week for ideas for "The Game of the Week in NKY"
