  1. Most of the area kicks off the regular season tonight. Good luck and good health to the players and referees this year! Tonight's slate per the newly revamped KHSAA Scoreboard: HC at Villa Calvary at Boone Ryle at Franklin County Scott at Holmes Cov Cath at Conner Beechwood at Grant Bishop Brossart at Cooper SK at NCC Dixie at Campbell
  2. We really do have top-tier pitches here in NKY and it is a great benefit to the student athletes. Not just the public schools either - CovCath, St. Henry, and soon-to-be NCC all have beautiful facilities.
  3. Should be a fun game tonight. NCC is improving but they are missing 3 key pieces.
  4. Fun Fact, NCC is undefeated against Cooper in the post season with all meetings being in the first round of the regional tournament: 2025: NCC 1 - 0 Cooper 2023: NCC 3 - 2 Cooper 2014: NCC 6 - 0 Cooper
  5. Ben Williams does a great job - his teams always seem to play the "right" way.
  6. You are misunderstanding my post - I should have used my sarcasm font when typing...
  7. It’s a good thing they received the AQ to have a chance to knock out the MIGHTY 33rd District’s Champion!
  8. Not that it really matters, but Villa and Beechwood over NCC even though NCC beat both? Does NCCs HC loss early in the season keep them below both in your eyes? I'd maybe throw Ryle in at 4 or 5 and slide Conner or Highlands down a spot but I pretty much agree with your list. It feels like 7 teams can compete for the region if they play their best games when needed.
  9. Dixie 5 - 0 Villa Madonna BBHS 5 - 1 Scott Cooper 5 - 1 SK. The lopsidedness here is a bit surprising. Highlands 3 - 0 Campbell County Lou Collegiate 8 - 2 Conner. Collegiate always has a fun team to watch but I was not expecting a 6 goal margin here. NCC 3 - 0 Boone South Oldham 1 - 0 CovCath St. Henry 5 - 0 Great Crossing Holy Cross 4 - 2 Pendleton
  10. Salem is a great talent - very dangerous on the ball. I am excited to see him play this upcoming year.
  11. Give me chalk in the first round. CovCath vs Conner in the Finals with CovCath taking home the hardware. Good luck to all teams and referees!
  12. There are definitely some moving parts here... So the 36th District would only dissolve for Men's sports and not women's? Where do Newport, Dayton, and Bellevue go? I am not sure redistricting to match current teams' skill level is the best idea. Highlands and NCC were among the best teams in the region last year. Also, I would not argue the 36th District is a "weak" district this year even if there are only 2 teams - if you took the 33rd District winner, the Conner Cougars, and dropped them into the 36th District right now they would be the bottom seed in District play.
  13. District winners: Conner, Dixie, CovCath, Highlands Runner ups: Boone, St. H, Beechwood, NCC I get you are frustrated by the 36th District but I do not know a logical fix. Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport obviously don't have Men's soccer teams but (surprise) soccer does not dictatethe KHSAA's state districting. Would you feel less upset if Holmes or Villa moved to the 36th district? Does Brossart or Campbell County make more sense? I am just trying to think of a solution to your gripe.
  14. 1. Covington Catholic 2. Ryle 3. Conner 4. Dixie 5. Highlands 6. St. H 7. Cooper 8. NCC 9. Boone 10. Beechwood
  15. The Cougars have some clear momentum right now. Besting Ryle and Lawrenceburg with a few bigger names out. Were Noble, Ginn, and Marshall out versus Ryle as well?
  16. 1. Cov Cath 2. Conner 3. Ryle 4a. Cooper 4b. Highlands 4c. Dixie 4d. Boone C 8a. St. H 8b. NCC 8c. Campbell C 8d. Beechwood I think the water really muddies after the top 3 and top 7.
  17. I think this is a great preview for tonight. I hope to see both friendlies. Dixie's starters were rather young last year. I am most eager to see them tonight.
  18. Here is my "know-nothing" 9th Region preseason top 10: 1. Ryle 2. Covington Catholic 3. Conner 4. Dixie Heights 5. Highlands 6. Cooper 7. NCC 8. Beechwood 9. BC 10. St. Henry
  19. I'm surprised to see HHS and Cooper in the 'B' Division. My guess is they are using the weekend to figure out roster depth.
  20. NCC and Cooper have been paired for Soccerama's Thursday 6pm friendly.
  21. I understand if a new HC wants to let go the previous staff and bring in his own support staff, but it is not typical for a whole staff to resign with the HC, IMO.
  22. The ball needs to be in the frontcourt for there to be a 3 second violation - completely unrelated. Team control fouls do count as a team foul but do not result in bonus shots. Also, the team taking the ball out of bounds is in possession and the ball is considered live (team control, not player control) - it is why the possession arrow switches once the ball is thrown in or a 5 second violation occurs before inbounding.
  23. No, the rule hasn’t changed and it was missed by the officials. “Team control foul” is the terminology used. Obviously officials aren’t expected to be perfect, but judgement calls should be missed. Not basic rule implementation. Fun game to watch regardless.
  24. Interested to hear why Highlands shot bonus free throws late in the 4th on NCC’s team control foul when inbounding. Seems like most officials get this call correct.
