Soccerama 2024

Featured Replies

It is my understanding that Soccerama will be held at Boone County High School this year August 2nd and 3rd. Not sure of all the matchups, but I do know that Conner will take on Bishop Brossart August 3rd at 8:00 pm.

If other matchups are known please post them. We are about 65 days away from this event.

NCC and Cooper have been paired for Soccerama's Thursday 6pm friendly.

I knew you’d come through with the goods Frank!  Thanks for posting.  Now we can start looking at games and maybe get some discussion going about the 2024 season that is approaching quickly.

Wondering who’s stretching their legs in Lex for the Bluegrass games???

July 19-21st

I agree @kyag, can’t wait for the season to get ramped up.

Conner is going down to Bluegrass.

Dusting off this thread on the eve of the start of Soccerama 2024!  We have 2 really good matchups on Thursday night to get sort of a sense how these 4 schools look like for this season.  I know @kyag mentioned that NCC lost a ton of talent thru graduation, will we see the effects of that when they face Cooper in the first match of the evening.  Cooper looked strong based on their success at the Bluegrass games.

Then the nightcap of day 1 will have Dixie vs Highlands.  Highlands will have a lot of new faces on the pitch but I think people are going to notice the "next man up" mentality.  They return one of the best offensive players in NKY in Harrison Gamble and in my opinion one of the best Keeper secrets in NKY in Sam Lang.  Having both of those crucial pieces as part of your starting 11 will take you places as long as you have a good group of players to surround them with.  These Birds are going to be smaller physically and younger then normal in my opinion, let's see how they fare against Dixie who always has a strong physical team.  Will the Birds be ready for the fight?

Looking forward to getting this party started.

Is Soccerama a series of scrimmages or do these games count towards their season records?  Also, how do coaches generally fill in their lineups.  Do they play to win, or are they still trying to get their finger on the pulse of the team at this point?

I feel like in the past these are your basic scrimmages where the coaches are still trying to fine tune their lineup.  So you typically see a team have a Team A (your hopefully Varsity starting squad) and a Team B (your reserves with some JV players sprinkled in to see if anyone that might be designated as JV only could find themselves up in Varsity if they play well).

So to answer your question, nothing is counted towards their season records.  But what I am looking for in these games is how does Team A look against the other Team A's players in the opening probably 20 minutes or so.  Hopefully that answers your question.

Answered perfectly and thank you.  I used to be fairly involved in the club soccer world, but not so much anymore.   None of my kids played high school soccer, so it's an untouched world for me.  Growing up my youngest played with a lot of the juniors and seniors playing for several different high schools this year, so I have a slight connection there and is generating little more interest for me.  He was a pretty good soccer player and hate that he gave it up, but also love that he is playing football.  I wish they could do both.  If seasons were switched, I think participation would go up in both sports.

I think this is a great preview for tonight. I hope to see both friendlies.

Dixie's starters were rather young last year. I am most eager to see them tonight.

Conner will have a number of players out with injuries…it has been a rough July for the Cougars.

Mason Ginn is still out, Clark Peterson out, Owen Swaney is out for this weekend is my understanding, and senior Golikia Masoluka is out. I see Coach Walker playing a mixture of players to see who can help off the bench. I’m just hoping Conner comes out with no more injuries after this one

Looks like the weather impacted the games for Thursday...

Cooper 0 NCC 0 game called at half is my understanding.

Highlands/Dixie moved to Monday.

We'll see how Friday goes...Boone vs Beechwood and the game of the week Cov Cath vs Ryle.

Heard this morning that CCH is not playing their Varisty but their JV tonight.

Is this confirmed?

Was looking forward to an early preview of some top Regional contenders with Ryle and CCH playing the night cap. Wondering if it's worth a trip down.
