Murray Tigers no longer Single A
Murray has been making some noise in the soccer All "A" tournament. They were runners-up last year, falling to frequent tournament winners Louisville Collegiate.

Newport Central Catholic 3 Dixie Heights 0 (9th Region Semi-Final)
After watching the reply multiple times - I don't understand how it's a red. The two players were battling for the ball and the Dixie player goes down. The Breds player does not 'stomp' or look where he is stepping, but rather puts his foot down to take a step and stay on his feet. A very controversial straight red card if you ask me. If the AR saw the Breds player make any indication he intended to stomp on the player then a straight red card is warranted by all means. But again, unless the player looks where he is stepping or modifies his path to step on a kid, IDK how you can determine intent.

9th Region Tournament Field (Not the draw)
District winners draw a district runner-up. Only one district member on each side of the bracket. NCC was the first district winner picked - this forces Highlands to the bottom half of the bracket. Dixie was the next district winner picked - this forces St. Henry to the bottom half of the bracket. *At the same time, this forces Cooper and Holy Cross to be in the top bracket as Ryle and CovCath must be in the bottom* Matchups are then randomly set from there.

9th Region Tournament Field (Not the draw)
NCC vs Cooper will be played on CovCath's turf field @ 6pm. Right before CovCath's matchup with Highlands in the first round.

32nd District Playoff Preview
Handling in the box... Can be such a harsh call at times. Thank you for the recap!

Newport Central Catholic 1 Highlands 0 (3-1 Pks) (36th District Championship)
Good thing for the Birds this years regional games aren’t being played at historic Morscher Sports Complex… NCC’s keeper did a good job of controlling his box. Highlands played the long ball more than I thought they would. The game was pretty stretched as the midfield was frequently passed over. Highlands had more opportunities. Highlands got behind NCCs defense twice but NCCs keeper was able to cut down the angles. NCC had a number of half chances but nothing they ‘should’ have converted. overall, I thought both teams were decently matched up. #31 and #6 stood out for Highlands. NCCs keeper and #10 stood out on their side of the ball. Good luck to both teams in the next regional round.

Ill take GC in a good game then SK winning the District.

33rd District Playoff Preview and Predictions
It is safe to assume the game was played to ensure eligibility. I don’t blame Cooper for doing this.

Covington Catholic 4 Newport Central Catholic 0
I agree with OON's overall take and will plug in some input. The first 20 minutes were pretty even. Both teams had less than decent looks as they seemed to be feeling each other out like mentioned. At about the 20 minute mark, CCH had a corner whipped back post that hit a NCC defender who wasn't ready for the ball for an OG. That is where the game changed. NCC looked very deflated and seemed to be reacting to CCH's play after that. CCH won the challenges and really controlled the ball for the rest of the half. CCH scored on a quick 3-pass counter with 2 minutes remaining in the half to make it a 2-0 HT lead. The second half was pretty similar to the first. NCC had a good first 10 minutes but CCH took over the game for the last 30 minutes. CCH's off ball movement was impressive - It really wore down NCC. NCC did hit the crossbar, graze the post, and have a shot from 3 yards out when the goalie was misplaced. They had their chances to get on the scoresheet but never converted. CCH was, without a doubt, the better team last night.

NKY Week 8 Games to Watch
You are correct, the season goes too quick. Most teams play 2-3 games a week which isn’t sustainable. Soccer is a “Fall” sport and the majority of the season is played in the summer. I’m convinced there is a better way. I know most teams are dealing with injuries. I just heard one of NCC’s top players has been in a boot since their All ‘A’ clash with Brossart. I know Highlands and Dixie have had top players out this season as well - it is tough to see.

Should Reg Season games or (In Season Tournaments) end with PKs resulting in a W or L in your record?
I am a fan of the regular season tie. It allows for strategy and opens the game to different playstyles (Barca tiki taka, Klopp press, Mourinho counter, etc.). I also think it makes sure a team earns it's win. In baseball, two teams can play horrible but one is guaranteed a positive outcome. I also think the result should report as the outcome. If a winner and loser are needed, regardless of reason (weekend tourney, district game, All A game) neither team should record a draw. I do agree PKs to decide an outcome is ridiculous. Extra Time should consist of 5 minute periods of Golden Goal. After each 5 minute period, each team should be forced to remove 1 player from the pitch. The game should be decided in the run of play...

NKY Week 6 Games to Watch
Scott just got the best of SK over the weekend in a PK shootout. SK was a 2-3 goal favorite headed into kickoff, IMO. 32nd District with some intriguing fixtures here lately.

Conner 2 Newport Central Catholic 0
I was very impressed with Conner's backline and athleticism. It seemed as if every restart or 50/50 ball was theirs. NCC probably held possession about 60-40 but never had time or space in their attacking third. Conner's size and speed was the difference maker. Conner relied on quick breaks and long balls offensively. Noble with two great finishes on NCC mistakes - the first is a throw-in flicked backwards by a defender and the second was NCC losing possession in the defensive third, two passes later it is 2-0. The cougars are trending in the right direction. I really liked how NCC moved the ball but they are missing the final product up top.

Covington Catholic 6 Cincinnati Country Day (OH) 0
Good bounce back result for the Colonels. CCD doesn't have the most talent but they play the game 'the right way'. As mentioned before, there are some fun weeks in the near future.

My google search says no other NKY teams play the Elks. https://www.goelksathletics.com/sport/soccer/boys/?tab=schedule#

Covington Catholic 3 McNicholas (OH) 0
Griffin was a heck of a player for McNick. I am unsure the level of quality McNick has this year but it is a good result for CovCath regardless. Thursday is shaping up to be a fun battle.

2023 NKY Soccerama
It may be fair to throw NCC and Conner in the third tier with Cooper. I don't have many sources in or around the CCH program and am eager to see them compete.

Open Job: Highlands
I know Dean has had interest in the past and has some coaching experience - initial thoughts are he would be a great fit for the program. Like mentioned in other threads, if all the talent comes out for HHS they will have a formidable team. I am not familiar with Nick Breslin, on the other hand. Is he an alumni as well?
