  1. Limited games in the back half of the week due to some weather issues. 1. McCracken Co. (13-4) - L Ballard 59-72 (Hoopfest) This week: Tues at University Heights, Friday vs Hopkinsville, Saturday vs Lyon Co. The loss against undefeated Louisville Ballard was close for most of the game, but the Bruins pulled away in the 4th quarter. Saturday's home game against Lyon County will be the 1st Region favorite versus the 2nd Region favorite. 2. Murray (9-5) - W Madisonville 57-49 (Hoopfest) This week: Mon at Lyon Co., Tues at Union Co. A solid win for the Tigers in the Marshall County Hoopfest against a very talented Madisonville team. More 2nd region competition this week with a clash at Lyon County on Monday - the Tigers will be an underdog in that game. 3. Paducah Tilghman (8-3) - W vs St. Mary 55-33, L Bardstown 78-81 (OT) (Hoopfest) This week: Mon at Hickman Co, Tues vs Webster Co, Fri at Henderson Co., Sat vs Calloway Co. A good win over the Vikings coming out of a COVID pause, and then a tough loss to Bardstown in the Marshall County Hoopfest. Mian Shaw has been scoring the ball well for the Tornado lately. This is a busy week for the Tornado with four games against some quality competition. 4. Graves Co. (11-4) - W at Webster Co. 59-53 This week: Thur vs Christian Co., Sat at Mayfield Seven straight wins for the Eagles! On Saturday they can clinch the 3rd district title with a win over Mayfield 5. Marshall Co. (4-7) - W vs Greenwood 63-56 This week: Tues vs Ballard Memorial, Fri vs Union Co., Sat at Carlisle Co. This is the best 4-7 team in Kentucky. Zion Harmon should be back in a week or two, and his teammates have been getting valuable experience while he's been out with a heel injury. This is a team that nobody wants to see in the Regional Tournament. 6. Mayfield (7-4) - W at Hickman Co. 61-40 This week: Tues vs Ballard Mem., Fri vs Union Co., Sat at Carlisle Co. Busy week upcoming for the Cardinal against some quality competition. This week they play the 7th, 8th, and 4th place teams in these rankings. 7. Calloway Co. (4-8) - No games This week: Mon vs St. Mary, Tues at Mayfield, Sat at Tilghman The Lakers haven't played a game since 2/6. How rusty will they be when they return? 8. Carlisle Co. (9-5) - W at CCA 65-53 This week: Mon vs Fulton Co., Tues at St. Mary, Thurs vs Mayfield, Sat vs. Marshall Co. I think the Comets are still the 1st District favorite. They have a busy week upcoming with four difficult games. Fulton County is playing much better as of late. 9. St. Mary (6-10) - L at Tilghman 33-55, L vs. Trigg Co. 50-54, W at CCA 69-46 This week: Mon at Calloway Co., Tues vs Carlisle Co, Thurs vs. Livingston Central, Sat at Hickman Co. The Vikings hung with Tilghman for two quarters before they pulled away. This week there are some winable games for them! 10. Christian Fellowship (13-5) - W at Ballard Memorial 64-57 This week: Mon at Livingston Central, Tues at Fulton City, Fri at Fulton County Big week upcoming for for the Eagles - can they get all three wins? 11. Fulton Co. (3-5) 12. Hickman Co. (7-9) 13. Community Christian Academy (3-15) 14. Ballard Memorial (2-15) 15. Fulton City (0-10)
  2. McCracken is definitely the 1st Region favorite right now, and is the only team that is unbeaten in First Region play. But there are definitely a handful of teams behind the Mustangs that could win the Regional Tournament. Should be another interesting week, and hopefully the weather allows some games to be played. 1. McCracken Co. (13-3) - W vs Murray 51-37, W vs Marshall Co. 66-61 This week: Tues vs CCA An impressive win over the Tigers this week 51-37. Ian McCune led the team in that game with 18 points. Will the Mustangs have a loss against a 1st Region team this regular season? 2. Paducah Tilghman (7-2) - No Games This week: Thurs at Mayfield, Fri vs St. Mary The Tornado has been on a pause due to COVID. They have two interesting games this week - the game at Mayfield coming out of their pause will most likely be a tricky one. 3. Murray (8-5) - L at McCracken 37-51, W vs Carlisle 75-34 This week: Wed vs Lexington Christian (All A Classic), Sat vs Madisionville Best of luck to the Tigers in the All A Classic - I think they have a real shot to make some noise in that tourney! 4. Graves Co. (10-4) - W vs Carlisle 78-60, W vs Mayfield 70-59 This week: Tues vs Marshall Co, Thurs vs Livingston Central, Fri vs Ballard Memorial This is one of the hottest teams in the 1st Region right now, and I think they will be a factor in the regional tournament. An interesting game Tuesday (weather permitting) at home against the Marshalls. 5. Marshall Co. (3-7) - L vs UHA 61-75, L at McCracken 61-66 This week: Tues at Graves Co., Fri vs Lyon Co, Sat vs Ashland Blazer The Marshalls 3-7 record is very deceiving because they have played a very difficult schedule and also several of their games have been without their star guard Zion Harmon. I am not sure when Harmon is expected to return from injury. Three very interesting games this week and the Marshalls are probably underdogs in all three. Tuesday at Graves, Friday against 2nd Region favorite Lyon County, and Saturday vs Ashland Blazer. 6. Calloway Co. (4-8) - No Games This Week: Mon vs Hickman, Tues vs Ballard Memorial, Sat at Hopkins Co Central The Lakers have been on a pause, but will be out of it this week. 7. Mayfield (6-4) - L at Graves 59-70 This week: Tues vs Fulton Co, Thurs vs Tilghman, Sat at Livingston Central This will be an interesting week for the Cardinals. Can they spring the upset on Thursday at home against the Tornado? 8. Carlisle Co. (8-5) - L at Graves Co. 60-78, L at Murray 34-75 This week: Tues vs Fulton City, Fri at Hickman Co., Sat at CCA I think the Comets are still the favorites for the 1st District title. Friday's game at Hickman County could be a little tricky though. 9. Hickman Co. (7-8) - W vs Fulton City 77-35, W at St. Mary 62-60. This week: Tues vs CFS, Fri vs Carlisle Co. Great win for the Falcons at St. Mary! This is probably one of the surprise teams in the Region so far. Can they make it to the 1st Region tourney? They definitely have a shot. 10. St. Mary (5-8) - L vs Hickman Co. 60-62 Tues at Trigg Co., Thurs at CCA, Fri at Tilghman It's worth noting that the Vikings loss to Hickman County was right after coming out of a 2-week pause. Busy week upcoming for the Vikings - the game at Tilghman will be a good test for them. 11. Christian Fellowship (12-5) 12. Fulton Co. (3-5) 13. Community Christian Acad. (3-13) 14. Ballard Memorial (2-14) 15. Fulton City (0-10)
  3. Several 1st Region teams are unfortunately on a program pause due to COVID. Hopefully, everyone will get/stay healthy and games in future weeks will be a go. Here are my rankings: 1. McCracken Co (11-3) - W 70-57 vs Calloway, W 69-38 at Carlisle, W 63-53 at Henderson Next wk: Tues vs Murray, Fri vs Marshall, Sat vs Henderson Co. A reminder that the three losses that the Mustangs have were against AP #1 Bowling Green, and also two narrow losses against out-of-state teams from Evansville. Two challenging games this week - Tuesday versus Murray and Friday versus Marshall. 2. Tilghman (7-2) - No games this week or next due to a team pause. It was unfortunate that we didn't get to see Tornado at home against McCracken. Surely that game will be rescheduled as the Tornado could potentially force a coin flip for the 2nd district #1 seed. It will be a tough win for them to get though. 3. Murray (7-4) - L vs Marshall 57-73, W vs Hickman 81-39, L at Greenwood 63-72 Next wk: Tues at McCracken, Thurs vs Carlisle, Fri at Calloway A surprising loss for the Tigers at home to the Marshalls (who were missing Harmon). But the Tigers can make up for it with a big week this week. Could they possibly spring an upset at the Mustangs on Tuesday? The district game Friday at Calloway is a huge game too. 4. Graves Co. (8-4) - W at Ballard 71-31, W vs Union Co 74-50 Next wk: Tues vs Carlisle, Fri vs Mayfield This is one of the hottest teams in the Region right now. Big game against rival Cardinals on Friday. 5. Marshall Co. (3-5) - W at Murray 73-57 Next wk: Tues vs Mayfield, Fri at McCracken What a win for the Marshalls this week! This is an inexperienced team that is getting better, and when Zion Harmon returns this will be one of the most talented teams in the region. 6. Calloway Co. (4-8) - L at Lyon Co. 65-81 Next wk: Tues at Ballard Mem., Fri vs Murray, Sat vs Critteden Co. Is there a possibility that Calloway, Marshall, and Murray all end up 2-2 in the 4th District??? That would be crazy! The #1 seed in that district is VERY important! Can the Lakers beat Murray at home on Friday. Big game! 7. Mayfield (6-3) - No games played this week. Next wk: Tues at Marshall, Thurs @ Hickman, Fri at Graves A couple chances for upsets this week for the Cardinals. If they get one of those upsets they'll probably move up in the rankings. 8. St. Mary (5-7) - No games played this week Next wk: Fri at Ballard Mem. The Vikings are also on a pause and hope to get back at it this week. 9. Carlisle Co. (7-3) - W at Livingston Co. 62-59, L vs McCracken 38-69, W at Ballard Mem. 62-46 Next wk: Tues at Graves, Thur at Murray The Comets have had some injury issues and when they are healthy they could make some noise in the Regional tourney. 10. Christian Fellowship (11-5) - W vs Dawson Springs 71-58, W at Todd Co. Central 51-42, L at Danville Christian 44-50 Tues vs McClean Co, Fri at CCA, Sat at Livingston Central Two nice wins this week! 11. Hickman Co. (5-8) 12. Fulton Co. (2-5) 13. Community Christian Acad (3-11) 14. Ballard Memorial (2-13) 15. Fulton City (0-9)
  4. Some movement in the rankings this week. McCracken and Murray remain the 1st Region favorites: 1. McCracken Co. (8-3) - W at Graves 57-53, W at St. Mary 69-36, W at Christian Co 55-42 Mon at Calloway, Tues at Carlisle, Fri at Tilghman, Sat at Henderson The Mustangs are rolling with a five-game winning streak. Key matchup with Tilghman on Friday, and a win will lock up the 2nd District top seed. 2. Murray (6-2) - L at Muhelenberg Co. 49-56 Tues vs Marshall Co., Thurs vs Hickman Co., Sat at Greenwood A key game for the Tigers on Tuesday at home against Marshall, and with a win the Tigers will be in the driver's seat for the #1 seed in the 3rd district and a first-round bye in the district tourney. Sophomore Grant Whitaker is their leading scorer at 22 points per game. 3. Paducah Tilghman (7-2) - W vs CCA 86-37, W at St. Mary 58-40, W vs Christian Co. 62-61, W vs Marshall Co. 68-55 Fri vs McCracken A shout-out to Senior Eli Brown for the driving layup against Christian Co. that won the game 62-61. Brown also followed up with a 19-point game in a home win against the Marshalls. The Tornado has 11 straight losses to the Mustangs - the last win against them was February 2017. Can the Tornado pull the upset on Friday and get that monkey off their back? 4. Graves Co. (6-4) - L vs McCracken 53-57, W at Marshall 52-38, W vs Hickman 79-61 Tues at Ballard Mem., Fri vs Mayfield, Sat vs. Union Co. The Eagles are playing well and only had a narrow loss against the Mustangs this past week. They have a key district matchup against Mayfield this week. This will be a very dangerous team come tourney time. 5. Calloway Co. (4-6) - L at Union Co. 55-66, W vs Mayfield 50-46, W vs Carlisle 81-44 Mon at McCracken, Fri @ Marshall Two very good wins over Mayfield and Carlisle this week. A tough week awaits - Monday at McCracken and then Friday at Marshall. Can they get the regular season sweep over the Marshalls? 6. Marshall Co. (2-5) - L vs Graves 38-52, L at Tilghman 55-68 Tues at Murray, Fri vs Calloway This is very likely a temporary drop in the rankings because both losses this week were without WKU commit Zion Harmon as he nurses an injury. The Marshalls will be a threat to win the region with a healthy Harmon. 7. Mayfield (6-3) - L at Calloway 46-50, W vs St. Mary 64-51 (OT), W at Ballard Mem 78-41 Fri at Graves Co. The Cardinals avenged an earlier loss to St. Mary with an overtime victory. Can they pull the upset at Graves on Friday? 8. St. Mary (5-7) - L vs Tilghman 40-58, L at Mayfield 51-64 (OT), L vs McCracken 36-69 Mon at Hickman Co., Tues vs Dawson Springs, Fri at Critteden Co. A tough week for the Vikings, and they took Mayfield to overtime before the Cardinals pulled away. The Vikings very well could get three wins this week though. 9. Carlisle Co. (5-2) - L at Calloway 44-81 Mon at Livingston Co., Tues vs. McCracken, Fri at Ballard Mem. The Comets have had some COVID cancellations that have interrupted their season. However, they still remain the team to beat in the first district. 10. Christian Fellowship (8-4) - W vs Hickman 67-60, W at Foundation Christian 65-23, W vs CCA 80-57 Mon at Dawson Springs, Tues at Todd Co Central, Fri at Danville Christian Andrew Allen is averaging 17 points per game for the Eagles. 11. Hickman Co. (4-6) 12. Community Christian Academy (2-10) 13. Fulton Co. (1-5) 14. Ballard Memorial (2-10) 15. Fulton City (0-7)
  5. The only two teams who remain undefeated in 1st Region play are McCracken and Murray, and both of those teams had some very close games this week from Marshall and Tilghman. The matchup between McCracken and Murray is coming on 2/8, but we also have some very interesting games coming this week. Here are my rankings: 1. McCracken Co. (5-3) - W 64-53 at Marshall (OT), W 67-52 vs Mayfield. Upcoming week - Tues at Graves, Fri at St. Mary, Sat at Christian Co. The Marshalls took the Mustangs to Overtime before McCracken pulled away. Balanced scoring for the Mustangs in that game with four players in double figures (Hart, Brower, Dumas, McCune). Saturday's game at Christian should be very interesting. 2. Murray (6-1) - W 56-52 vs Tilghman, W 73-50 vs Calloway Co. Upcoming week - Mon at Muhlenberg Co. Grant Whitaker scored 25 of the team's 56 points in a close win over Tilghman. The Tigers' win over Calloway puts them in the driver's seat for the very important #1 seed in the 4th District. 3. Paducah Tilghman (3-2) - L 52-56 at Murray Upcoming week - Tues at St. Mary, Fri vs Christian Co, Sat vs Marshall Co. The Tornado only shot 4 for 25 (16%) from three against Murray, and still made it a very close game. Unfortunately, last Friday's game at Marshall was postponed due to the pandemic - hopefully this upcoming weekend's game against the Marshalls will be a go. The Tornado has a very balanced scoring attack with five players averaging more than seven points a game. 4. Marshall Co. (2-3) - L 53-64 vs McCracken (OT) Upcoming week - Friday vs Graves Co., Sat at Tilghman The Marshalls scored late to force Overtime against McCracken, but the Mustangs pulled away in OT. Mr. Basketball contender Zion Harmon is averaging 30 points per game for the Marshalls. This week will be interesting for the Marshalls (hopefully they are able to play). Games against Graves and Tilghman will determine if they are able to move up in these rankings. 5. Graves Co. (4-3) - W 76-32 vs Fulton City, L 60-65 at Lyon Co, W 61-56 at St. Mary. Upcoming week - Tues vs McCracken Co., Fri at Marshall, Sat vs. Hickman Co Two wins and one loss on the week for the Eagles, and Lyon Co is one of the top teams in the 2nd Region. This will be a very challenging week for the Eagles - maybe a chance to move up the rankings with some impressive wins. 6. Calloway Co (2-5) - L 64-71 at Webster Co., L 50-73 at Murray, L 65-81 vs Lyon Co. Upcoming week - Mon at Union Co, Tues vs Mayfield, Sat vs Carlisle Three losses for the Lakers this week, but I kept them here in the rankings since they played three very good teams. Can the Lakers get three wins this week? It's a tough schedule but I think it's doable. 7. St. Mary (5-4) - W 75-21 at Fulton City, W 89-53 vs CCA, W 82-49 vs CFS, L 56-61 vs Graves Upcoming week - Tues vs Tilghman, Thurs at Mayfield, Fri vs McCracken A very good week for the Vikings, and the loss to the Eagles was very close. This is a very challenging week ahead, and one game to keep an eye on is the Thursday game at Mayfield - the Vikings won the last matchup by only two points. 8. Carlisle Co. (5-1) - W 78-72 vs Hickman, W 75-48 vs Ballard Memorial Upcoming week - Sat at Calloway The Comets look to be the definite favorite in the 1st District. Can they get a road win this Saturday at Calloway? That would be a very impressive win. 9. Mayfield (4-2) - W 69-62 vs Fulton Co, W 72-33 vs CCA, L 52-67 at McCracken Upcoming week - Tues at Calloway, Thurs vs St. Mary, Fri at Ballard Memorial Another team that has a very big week ahead. It's very possible that the Cardinals could get all three wins, but the game at Calloway will definitely be a challenge. 10. Christian Fellowship (5-4) - W 56-43 vs Livingston Central, L 49-82 at St. Mary, L 60-67 vs Gleason, TN Upcoming week - Mon vs Hickman Co, Sat vs CCA I had CFS replace Hickman Co. this week at the ten spot in these rankings, and now they play them on Monday. We'll see what happens! 11. Community Christian (2-7) 12. Hickman Co (4-4) 13. Fulton Co (1-5) 14. Ballard Memorial (1-8) 15. Fulton City (0-7)
  6. I don't know the answer but to clarify I think you mean the UHA coach - University Heights. Sounds like they had a really close game!
  7. Lots of interesting games in the 1st Region this week! It will be interesting to see how these ranking shift over the next few weeks. Team Rankings: 1. McCracken Co. (3-3) - Tuesday's home game against Tilghman was tight until the Mustangs pulled away in the last few minutes for a 74-56 win. The Mustangs were led by Senior Noah Dumas who had 18 points and also did a stellar defensive job on Tilghman's senior Eli Brown. The Mustangs finished the week with two close losses against teams from Evansville. The Mustangs have an interesting game away at Marshall on Monday of this week. 2. Murray (4-1) - the Tigers won the All A Classic on Saturday with a 61-42 win over St. Mary. Sophomore Grant Whitaker had 18 points in that win. The Tigers have two key home games this week - Tuesday against Tilghman and a district matchup against Calloway on Friday. 3. Paducah Tilghman (3-1) - the Tornado was even with McCracken with six minutes left in the game until things fell apart. PT bounced back by beating Fulton County on Friday and then defeated Graves 79-56. Eli Brown had a nice bounce-back game with 27 points against the Eagles. Two very tough away games this week for PT - Tuesday at Murray and Friday at Marshall. 4. Marshall Co. (2-2) - the Marshalls only had one game this week and Mr. Basketball contender Zion Harmon missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for a narrow loss 75-74 at Calloway. Harmon had 33 points in that game. This is a big week for the Marshalls with home games on Monday vs McCracken and Friday versus Tilghman. Two very tough games and Harmon will need to come up big to get these wins. 5. Graves Co. (2-2) - two wins and one loss for the Eagles this week. They had an impressive 53-48 win at Calloway early in the week with Drew Hayden and John Brown leading the team in scoring. They also had a 78-59 win over CCA. On Saturday they went to Tilghman and lost 79-56. 6. Calloway Co. - a tough 53-48 loss to Graves was followed up by a very impressive home with against Marshall Co. on Friday. Matthey Ray led the way in the game against the Marshalls with 23 points and 9 rebounds. A huge district game at Murray is on Friday of this week. 7. St. Mary (2-3) - the Vikings got two wins in the All A Classic before losing to Murray 61-42 in the finals. St. Mary beat Carlisle 69-36 and then had an impressive 61-59 win against Mayfield in the semis. Parker McCauley scored 26 points against the Cardinals. 8. Carlisle Co. (3-1) - the Comets had a 69-36 loss to St. Mary this week, but it was without their star Senior Blake Elder. Upcoming on Friday is a key district clash at home against Hickman Co. 9. Mayfield (2-1) - the Cardinals beat Christian Fellowship 75-44 in their first game of the All A Classic, but then had a narrow loss to St. Mary 61-59. They were led by DeAngelo Brooks with 20 points in the loss. 10. Hickman Co. (3-2) - the Falcons had a 71-43 win against Fulton Co. in which Jackson Midyett scored 24 points. They then lost 77-36 to the eventual champion Murray. This Friday's game at Carlisle will decide who is the frontrunner for the District 1 regular season. 11. Christian Fellowship (4-2) 12. Fulton Co. (0-4) 13. Comm. Christian Academy (1-5) 14. Ballard Memorial (1-5) 15. Fulton City (0-4)
