Cooper beat NCC 3-2 @ Morscher Field

Cov Cath beat St Henry 1-0 @ St Henry

Beechwood beat Highlands @ Beechwood 1-0

Dixie Heights beat Conner @ Conner 3-2

I believe Dixie and Conner are the only teams missing key contributors to their team  

All games are Monday  The games are played at the home field of the team listed on the top of the bracket  Second round games are at Holmes on Wednesday, first game at 5:30 and second game at 7:30.  Final is on Saturday at 5:30 at Holmes.

Region 9 winner will host the winner of Region 12.  The winner of this game will travel to play the winner of Region 14 or 15.  Just my opinion, whoever comes out of the 9th has a very good chance to make it to the final 4 where they would play the winner of Region 2,3,5,or 8 for a shot at the championship game at Lexington Sporting

Any updates on the games? I listened to the Cov Cath / St. Henry on mixrl tonight. They won 1-0.

WOW!  This was a battle. 0-0:at the half. Conner missed two chances in the first half but capitalize off a corner with the ball bouncing around the Cougars find the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead in the 2nd half. Dixie would answer with less than 10 minutes off a direct free kick just outside the box to make it 1-1. Then off a corner the with 3 minutes remaining the Cougars find the back of the net again. The game ended with controversial decision by the center ref. Conner cleared the ball with less than 15 seconds to the side, a Cougar player got the ball and attacked scoring with 1 second….Cougars go crazy and then the ref calls the two coaches over to explain the ball went out of bounds Dixie throw in. They put 15 seconds back on the clock after time had expired and Dixie gets the throw in and Conner gets founded with 1 second left ending he game at that point. Crazy game.

Good description of the game. I’m not sure what the rule book says about calling back a play that went that far beyond the missed call but I do think the ball legit went out of bounds off Conner. Linesman immediately signaled for a Dixie throw but center ref was watching the clearance and didn’t see the flag up. It was a ball cleared out of the air, that looked to be over the sideline. Unfortunate that the counterattack ended up scoring and then being called off. That said, I understand the refs decision to bring it back and restart the last 15 sec.

It’s also worth noting that late in the second half (I believe the score was still tied at 1), a Conner player blasted an absolute rocket shot from 30yds+ that was headed to the upper corner. As awesome as the shot was, the Dixie keeper made an equally amazing save. Honestly, possibly the best long shot and save combo that I’ve seen at any level of soccer.

I am sensing some type of unnecessary jab towards NCC due to there currently only being 2 teams in the Boys 36th District so they get an AQ bid into the 9th Region.  Yet, when the ball is in play they knock off the 33rd District Champ when the game is played.  In my opinion 9 years out of 10 you pretty much have 2 AQ coming from:  34th: Dixie/St. Henry 35th:  Cov Cath/Beechwood and then you have the 36th.  Would you respect NCC coming out of the 36th if Dayton/Bellevue had a Boys program like they do with the 36th Girls District?  The only District in the last several years that you can't chalk who is coming out of it is the 33rd District with 3 1/2 quality programs with: Cooper, Ryle, Conner and sometimes Boone.  No question that is the toughest District where the District Tournament actually means something on who gets to play in the 9th Region Tournament.  The 34th and 35th District is a 2 team District, regardless if there are other teams in it...

Its very strange to me that Cooper lost to a quality opponent and the jab towards NCC is that they got a pass on getting into the 9th Region Tournament in the first place.  PLEASE!!!!!
