9th Region Tournament

Maybe the 9th should just do what the 6th Region just went to and that is a super-regional.  All the teams play in the regional tournament and the winner advances.  The district tournament would come to an end in the 9th.

Hey...I've been there though.  It sucks seeing your team lose but I have to admit Highlands and NCC both have good players that play hard and they have good coaches who make adjustments.

Congratulations to all the teams who advance and to the seniors who still get to lace them up one more time.  Enjoy the ride boys!

  • It has been a fun ride with these boys. I’ve been watching them play now together for 5 years and reality set in tonight that this is it. Proud of these Cougars and what they have accomplished as a gr

I am sensing some type of unnecessary jab towards NCC due to there currently only being 2 teams in the Boys 36th District so they get an AQ bid into the 9th Region.  Yet, when the ball is in play they knock off the 33rd District Champ when the game is played.  In my opinion 9 years out of 10 you pretty much have 2 AQ coming from:  34th: Dixie/St. Henry 35th:  Cov Cath/Beechwood and then you have the 36th.  Would you respect NCC coming out of the 36th if Dayton/Bellevue had a Boys program like they do with the 36th Girls District?  The only District in the last several years that you can't chalk who is coming out of it is the 33rd District with 3 1/2 quality programs with: Cooper, Ryle, Conner and sometimes Boone.  No question that is the toughest District where the District Tournament actually means something on who gets to play in the 9th Region Tournament.  The 34th and 35th District is a 2 team District, regardless if there are other teams in it...

Its very strange to me that Cooper lost to a quality opponent and the jab towards NCC is that they got a pass on getting into the 9th Region Tournament in the first place.  PLEASE!!!!!

GO BREDS!!!  Way to represent the lowly 36th District, where everyone gets to play in the 9th Region Tournament....

Tough matchup for the Breds in the 2nd round

How about them Thorough Breds!!! When you have a hall of fame coach it can make a difference.

Ben Williams does a great job - his teams always seem to play the "right" way.

Historically speaking the last time NCC has knocked off the Blue Colonels:

2011 & 2013 saw NCC get the win both times in the Region Tournament

*2011 was for the old 10th Region Championship game….

Looks like Cov Cath was to scared to schedule NCC this year to create even more drama for this game ??

I’m not a soccer guy but my buddy is the HC, and I’m ride or die Breds all the time. Thanks for the good content.

Fun Fact, NCC is undefeated against Cooper in the post season with all meetings being in the first round of the regional tournament:

2025: NCC 1 - 0 Cooper

2023: NCC 3 - 2 Cooper

2014: NCC 6 - 0 Cooper

Very interesting. Maybe we could play them in a regional final one day.

1-1 with 1 minute left in regulation.

NCC - Cov Carh

?? Colonels win. Penalty Kicks (4-2).

A young New Cath squad closes out at (8-12-2).

Cov Cath (14-7-2) meets the nightcap winner of Highlands vs. Conner Saturday for the title.

️ Colonels in their tenth regional final since the "modern" 9th Region alignment in 2012.

Thanks for @FrankNicodemus for keeping me informed. Heart break on the Hill back to back nights. Girls in OT last night and the Boys tonight. Go Birds at this point.

FINAL:

Conner 2, Highlands 1

Cougars advance to their first region final since 2008.

Goals by:

Conner: Cranfield (15’), Faulkner (40’)-0:04 until halftime

Highlands: Adhikary (70’)
