The Hoptown faithful are reeling right now after 3 straight losses. All three games Hoptown outgained their opponents, but made too many mistakes to win. They had Madisonville down 14 points and lost. Outgained Owensboro by over 150 yards, but threw 3 first half interceptions. That's the kind of season that they have had. This team had some high expectations, and still does, because of a pretty talented senior class (18 of them) - most started on last years' team. Their schedule this year is also brutal playing Owensboro, Highlands, Christian Co, and Mercer Co (who are all in the top 10 in 5A), then finishing with Warren Central and Lincoln Co. They just need some breaks to go their way to turn things around. A big win would help. Will it come this weekend - highly doubtful. But that doesn't mean they're not going to lace'em up and play their butts off. We'll be there on Saturday and we'll see what happens. The game should bring a big crowd from the area to see the vaunted Blue Birds. I'm not sure when the last time they played down here.

I think they should keep playing. As you said it's a unique matchup and a true rivalry. I can remember when it was lopsided the other way. Ft Knox should e able to be competitive again, but right now its all ft Campbell.

Sounds like all Highlands has to do is not get lost on the trip down.:sleep:

Hoptown could't play much worse in the first half. The 3 ints killed all scoring opportunities. Owensboro played extremely well, didn't turn the ball over, and made huge special teams plays all night. It looked like Hopkinsville had more rushing yards and definately had more passing yards. They made a run in the 3rd quarter, but couldn't take the lead and put pressue on the Owensboro offense.

Big match-up in West Ky 5A. A district 1 game with both teams entering the game at 2-0. Owensboro won the district last year (and beat the Tigers by over 30 points), but lost much to graduation, and a much improved and senior laden Hopkinsville team. Sould be a good game with the winner in the driver's seat for the district title. Predictions?

Dillard laid some folks out at Tilghman last week. Hoptown also has a 6'4", 220 lb, 4.9 40 tight end that isn't getting alot of attention. He's a transfer from Missouri (military), 4.0 grades, good hands, and a heck of a blocker.

Fort Campbell is a top ten team.
