  1. Ft Campbell is actually MORE private than any other school in the state with the exception of Ft Knox. You must live on post to play for the Falcons, even active duty military families that live off post can't send their kids to Ft Campbell schools.
  2. Why is the Tight End position not designated? I don't see any tight end types in these selections, maybe there are and I just don't recognize the names. It's going to be tough for a tight end to have enough catches to match wide out numbers and get selected as just a 'receiver'. I would think that their dual role of blocking and receiving would make them a seperate selection. What's the deal?
  3. Actually the Hoptown / Christian playoff game was closer and a more competitive game.
  4. I see two possibilities in this game. One is County hangs in there with their speed (lots of talk about speed, trust me Christian has faster skilled players, Highlands has the overall team speed advantage, especially at linebacker), makes some big plays, and keeps this game close. They won't be able to stop Highlands' offense. I doubt they can pull off the upset, but they keep it close. The other possibility is that the bright lights, hype, and Highland's defense turns County's big play offense into turn over city. If that happens, Highlands rolls them by 30+. Highlands 42 Christian 7
  5. Multiple sets. Some I, some shotgun, some single back. They have a nifty QB who escapes the rush well and finds time for completions, plus a stable of good backs - led by Banks - who all can take it the distance given an opening. It's a big play offense really. They lost their stud fullback during the Hoptown game, but it didn't seem to hurt them against Owensboro. They have some pretty impressive sized O lineman, and athletic receivers who can also make big plays.
  6. I would think that RB Vashun Banks of Christian County would qualify. I'm not a Christian County backer so I don't have his stats, but the kid has put up some big numbers over the past two seasons and should have a banner year as a senior.
  7. I saw the four games between Owensboro, Hoptown, and Christian Co. The difference is that Hoptown and Christian got better as the year progressed - Owensboro didn't. If you saw the Hoptown, Christian Co game, you might agree. Then again, you might not. It's just my opinion. As for predictions go, I said previously that the winner of the Hopkinsville - Christian Co game would win the region. As for who will win between County and JH, I don't have a clue because I haven't seen JH play. I will say this, who ever moves on will have their hands full if they end up playing Highlands.
  8. The regional championship was played last Friday night between Christian and Hopkinsville. Either team would have beaten Owensboro last night. The Devils just looked weak.
  9. After seeing Christian's defense without their best middle LB I think Owensboro wins this one easily. Christian isn't that good stopping the run, and their offense relies too much on big plays. That catches up with them this week. Owensboro 35 - Christian Co 7
  10. Don't know about other parts of the state, but in WKY Russellville plays up from 2A to 3A and Madisonville plays up from 5A to 6A. Now this could be for a lot of reasons, but there are suspicions as to why these two schools play up ranging from travel distance of opponents to avoiding tough district matchups in your class and district (Ft Campbell / Trigg / Caldwell in 2A, and Christian / Hopkinsville / Owensboro in 5A).
  11. I agree, Hoptown does have a good chance of pulling off the upset. The rankings a a bit suspect, Hoptown was ranked #9 after beating Mercer Co at Mercer, then won their last 3 games and fell out of the rankings... County's ranking is accurate IMO. They've has some very good wins this year including, Owensboro at Owensboro, Henderson, Hoptown previously, and Tilghman (before Tilghman fell apart).
  12. Gee, I thought this was a Bowling Green / Owensboro thread. BG 21 - OHS 14 Whichever teams wins, neither will get by the next round IMO. The Hoptown / Christian winner will advance.
  13. Round two of the "Bragging Rights" game. County won the first meeting 35-13. Game was a bit closer than the score indicates, County got two late TDs to ice it. This is only the second time these cross-town rivals have played each other in the playoffs. Last year County beat Hoptown in the playoffs after Hoptown won the regular season game. County enters this game on a 9 game winning streak and champions of the district (one of the toughest districts in Kentucky in my opinion with Christian, Hopkinsville, Owensboro, Ohio) Hoptown comes into this game with a 5 game win streak of their own and seems to be playing their best football right now. Should be a tough game.
  14. Hopkinsville vs Christian Co in a rematch of the "Bragging Rights" game. This is a huge rivalry during the regular season every year. Last year was the first time these two met in the playoffs with County avenging an earlier loss to Hoptown in the regular season. County is favored in the one, but in a rivalry game anything can happen. It should be a good game, and there might just be a big crowd at the Stadium of Champions.
  15. Let me guess, I bet #75 for Warren Central played the whole game on defense for once.
  16. Looks pretty good to me. First region should play out about like that, with the only game that raises some question is the spread on the Warren Central / Owensboro game. I think Owensboro will get them, but not by that much.
  17. Interesting how Hopkinsville was ranked #9 after beating Mercer Co, then won their last 3 over 5A opponents and are no longer ranked in either the AP or the BGP poll.
  18. That won't work unless you restructure the regions and make teams fill their schedules with other teams the same class . Otherwise scheduling would be a nightmare, espcially for better programs who many schools don't want to play. Mandating a .500 season is fine if everyone is playing compairable schedule and that's just about impossible, unless the districts and regions are reconfigured.
  19. Who cares what a team's overall record is???? The objective is to find the best team in each class. The only criteria for making the playoffs is DISTRICT play and how your district is set up. A team only has to play 3 or 4 meaningful games in a year. Even if you only took the district champions and runners up, you'd still could have teams with losing records get it because of their non-district schedule (if those teams are playing a quality schedule). 'Giving' teams an extra game a season adds up in the long run. Teams and players are better for it, even if some bad teams get in and get blown out those players are better for it. The bottom line is they're still playing and getting practice and experience.
  20. This is a meaningless stat. With such small districts, you can win your district, lose many of your non district games (because you stepped up and played a tough schedule), have a losing record but easily make a run in the playoffs. If you're looking for a solution to get only teams with winning records in the playoffs (which there isn't really a good one), make bigger districts and make most of the regular season games district games. Or MAKE teams play other teams WITHIN their region, then use regional record as a wildcard type system. There's lots of ways to do this, and until a team plays more than 3 or 4 'meaningful' games (which are their district games), that team's overall record is meaningless.
