A statement win. A signature win. Lots of road left until tournament time, but this is an indicator that this just might be the Lady Raiders' year in the district, in the region, and All-A-wise. As always, time will tell. Congrats on a nice win.

The Lady Raiders have had several nice the teams the past few years, but have always been one or two players shy of having a solid rotation of 8 quality contributors, which is what it will take for them to overcome their larger district and region rivals. If it can happen this year, then 2014-15 might be their season in the sun.

The Lady Centurions are undefeated with a big win over their district rival, plus they appear to be well-organized, disciplined and efficient. What's not to like about that??? I hope things go smoothly for the new coach and team. I've heard no negatives thus far and hope there are none.

When coming to SHA for a game, it's hard for visiting teams to leave with a with under their belts.

A retraction may be in order. Yes, it's only game one of the season for both teams, but Simon was impressive for an opening game. It looks as though lots of tools are in Coach Stowers' tool box this season - plus they are young and going to get better. Shelby is learning a new system, so it's safe to say they are evolving and will steadily improve. The last laugh is always the best one, so it should be an interesting year for these two teams.

I know an unnamed former KY all-star and initial D-I signee from between 2005-2009 who graduated from high school one year early due skipping an early grade. This fine young lady is now working on her PhD ... and by the way ... she played up .. scored over 2,100 points and would have been a beast if she had played one more year in high school. Should this person have be REQUIRED to be in K-12 AND to have played down in middle school? C'mon man!!! To think so is simply faulty logic. It's good rule. Period. 'Nough said.

From everything I've read on this thread, I conclude that SHA has a 7th region dynasty in the making. It reminds me of the early acclaim for Anderson County's wave of young players a few years back - the class that just graduated. There's lots of pressure to live up to when the hoopla begins this early. But the key factor that distinguishes the two programs is that AC was restricted in its pool of players to draw from, while the SHA has virtually no limits. Time will tell how it all plays out, it always does.

1) It's odd that Mercer Co. is receiving some attention regarding a transfer, which it usually does not. I have no issues with this particular transfer situation, but it seems ironic that they are the benefactor of such a talented transfer after all these years. 2) The current trends indicate that the doors are opening wider and wider in regards to transfers, and that is the road that causes me concern. The KHSAA is in a no-win situation, which makes it nearly impossible to monitor all that is going on. I'm just concerned about the future of high school sports in Kentucky as it relates to transfers, that's all.

Old timers quiz: Anybody remember VonDale Morton's departure from Mercer to LexCath back in the 90s? That the Titans (errrr ... Scotties) receive an excellent player is a sort of delayed balancing act. Unusual things are going on recently; maybe this is the new normal, but I'm not so sure it is a good road to travel.

But if the family is reuniting and healing itself, as was brought out in another post, then that is a fantastic blessing for them. It's the difference-maker, and if it was a major consideration by the KHSAA, then it's a fair decision. But have you no response for the other discussed transfers, or are you only all about the B-town deal? There's more going on than one instance, and this stuff has been for quite a while, and most don't involve the reuniting of a family. So, what about it (hint: think bigger picture)? Really, Harry, let's teach all kids to only look out for #1? Now that's exactly what we want to instill in all our youth, right? Over the course of the summer there have been a number of posts about various kids going here and there - especially in NKY, and not just about Brewer. So Dad is coaching at B-town, that's fine, but coaching boys isn't such a legitimizing factor as if he were coaching girls in this instance. People have job changes all the time that do not effect the school for which their child plays. Passtheball said it well when intimating about having a rule and enforcing it, or else open everything up. Just let every student athlete in the state go free agent, is that what you want, Harry? OK. So ... let's dissolve the KHSAA and just go all-out AAU all the time, maybe even do it like they do in Europe, where everything is club ball and has nothing to do with school. If that's what you want, OK, but you can't have it both ways. When one post mentioned that the Brewer kid could go to either B-town or Manual, it struck me as if an NBA player is considering several suitors, and if you endorse this trend and train of thought, sorry, you are part of what is undermining high school athletics. Maybe the concept is high school sports is outdated and obsolete. Hey, some folks thought horses whould never yield to automobiles, so perhaps my mindset is outdated in this regard ... but I seriously doubt it. At least there is some spirited discourse on this subject from various points of view - which is a great thing. Gotta love it.

Well, what's good about it? It's good for the harvesting team; it's not good for the team losing players; it's totally unfair for disadvantaged competitors, which adds up to 2/3 negatives in my book. Are the transfers legal, proper, ethical, within the rules - or are they circumventing the rules? I certainly don't know and I guess that you don't either. Sorry, but those schools who repeatedly harvest talent as opposed to develop it and win because of it - well, sorry PP92, I think it's crap. Now, sometimes, maybe often, it is legit, and that's fine. But a few schools just keep on harvesting talent from other schools, and again, that's just crap. Now I'm pretty sure you disagree with my perspective, but hey, it's America, and it's cool to agree to disagree. AAU teams harvest talent, colleges harvest talent, and pros harvest talent - that's what they have to do to survive, and that is the nature of their realm. However, this is high school athletics, and it should be different. If/when kids "go free agent," that when the overriding authority, the KHSAA, needs to prevent/disallow such things.

Based on a couple of new threads I have read today, there seems to be some significant relocation of players as summer comes to a close. Sorry, but it causes me to harken back to THE "most pressing issues" of the summer of 2014. No, not war, not immigration, not unemployment, not the U,S, senatorial race, but big-time issues such as ... the LeBron decision #2, or where are Kevin Love and Carmello going, etc. But wait ... this is Kentucky high school girls' basketball!!! Hello, KHSAA, what the heck is going on???
