passtheball Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The Highland Bluebirds travel to Sacred Heart to start the season off with one of the top games on opening week of girls High School basketball. What are your thoughts and prediction?
passtheball Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Should be a good match up to start the year with Highlands coming into the Valkyries court with a veteran team. Sacred Heart will play with four freshman that will see the court with two of them probably starting. Highlands returns many players from last year and should be ready to play. I think this will be a close game with the winning margin in the single digits. I'm going with the home team, but wouldn't surprise me if the Bluebirds steal a win.
TripleSevens Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Going with Highlands in this one. They no longer fit the talented "young" team label anymore. They have experience. They have depth. They have talent. They have coaching.
HardWoodFan Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Going with Highlands in this one. They no longer fit the talented "young" team label anymore. They have experience. They have depth. horst muhlmann Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I expect Highlands to avenge last season's opening loss, especially with the superior experience they have this year. On any given night any one of 5 players could go off for 20. Probably a good thing that Highlands plays them early as the Valkyries' youth and inexperience will dissipate as the season goes on. Expecting a fairly low scoring affair as the girls start the season. Lady Birds 53 Valkyries 42

You make valid points, but you never know what you're going to get in the first game of the year. Experience factor goes in Highlands corner. I'm hoping the Valkyries don't have that "deer in the headlights" look to start the game and get themselves in too deep of a hole in the first quarter. I'm going into this game thinking the Valkyries are the underdogs, so maybe the pressure lies with the Bluebirds.
retropop Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 When coming to SHA for a game, it's hard for visiting teams to leave with a with under their belts.
