Can you present an argument for Walton Verona #1 overall. I can make an argument for Simon Kenton, Shelby Co., and Anderson Co. all for #1. I just don't see Walton Verona being past those teams.

Don't really have a valid argument, pretty much just guesswork. Keep in mind that Anderson County at this point, will be getting love due to name only. They will have many unproven varsity level players.

I've see Anderson Co. play this summer multiple times. They are going to be regional contenders. They may be inconsistent at times, especially early on, but they can flat out get after it. Simon Kenton lost alot but gains one of the best freshmen in the state. Shelby Co. hopes to gain consistency this year and adds a home run hire of a coach. WV may have a better season than last, but they haven't completed the rebuilding process yet.

I have no doubt that Anderson will get after it, the SK freshman is very good......but it will take more than that to win the region, and Coach Holland will do a great job at Shelby County.

Not a bad list FBD. I would move oldham, South and Collins above Henry.

Possibly even Williamstown. I can buy WV #1. They return the most and had a solid showing in the region. Shelby would probably be my pick though they have some question marks. Anderson will be solid and how good SK is will depend on how many rumored transfers they get. I am hearing the young talent they already have. My question is why didn't they get a lot of PT in the region? I could be wrong just looked like a lot of upperclassmen on the floor most of the times I saw them play.

Gallatin will be tough and yes they did lose their best player, but also return the best player in the region in her sister IMO. Also yes the region is down compared to the last 5 yrs IMO. Trimble will be another team to watch for. This year it's going to come down to matchups as much as anything.

My list would look something like this----

 

1. SK---transfers plus returners

2. Shelby---good size, team speed may be their downfall

3. WV---rebuilding close, but maybe not at level of top 2???

4. Anderson---lost 2 studs, but are still going to play hard and have some shooters

5. Gallatin---probably have the best player in region, lots of double teams expected

6. Trimble---good size, team speed lacking? ball handling may be suspect early

7. Grant---sleeper to sneak up on some people even after losing transfer

8. Carroll---middle of the pack

9. Williamstown---middle of the pack

10. Collins---could probably switch spots with 8 or 9

11. Oldham---where is scoring going to come from after losing mcmurtry

12. South Oldham---rebuilding time---without a coach?

13. Owen---will be better

14. Henry---rumor has it that best player may not be playing

15. North Oldham---still young, improved last year

16. Spencer---where is scoring coming from? loss of Meyers

17. Eminence---struggle continues

 

Some of these could move up or down a couple of spots. Tear it apart with lists of your own....:banghead:

I think you nailed it. A week ago I would have had Anderson over Shelby. Holland gives them a bump up.

South Oldham is much better than where most of you put them - no coach or not. Three very good seniors who have much to prove so watch out.

Good point, many are giving Anderson County the benefit of the doubt, due to their recent history. They may very well be very good before all is said and done, but I would think it will be a work in progress throughout the season.

Ouch! I hope you are wrong about Gallatin. I think Trimble will be solid also, this could be the year they finally advance out of the 29th District and make some noise in the 8th Region tournament.

Been a while for Trimble and if they end up the # 1 seed in the district, that puts South and Oldham match up for the district finals. Will be the first time in a really long time that either one of those teams to not advance to the region tournament. As for Gallatin- just my opinion and they could be up or down a couple spots like most of them. I think they will really miss their point guard - she really made things go for them. I agree that Dossett could be one of the top players in the region. She is fun to watch and I would imagine she will be "smothered" most of the year. Guard play will be key again for most teams - Trimble & Shelby have some serious height on their rosters. Gonna be interesting to see how it all goes.
