  1. I'm going to be in attendance for this one!! Hopefully the Hilltoppers can pull it out. Looking forward to seeing them play in the Garden!!
  2. Scott County Cardinals Coach: Billy Hicks Record: 34-1 State Championships: 2 District: 42 Region: 11 The Scott County Cardinals return to Rupp Arena to represent the 11th Region for the second year in a row. Last year they fell in the quarterfinals to eventual state champion Bowling Green in a close game that came down to the final few minutes. Make no mistake the Cardinals are back for one reason and one reason only, to claim a State Championship!! The Cardinals enter the tournament with an impressive 34-1 record and no losses against in state competition. They look to bring home the 3rd state title in school history. Players to Know Michael Moreno - Michael Moreno comes in to the sweet sixteen as the Cardinals leading scorer and rebounder on the season. He averages 20.5 points per game and 11.0 rebounds a game. He is one of the top players in the state in the class of 2018 and a serious contender for Mr. Basketball next season. Cooper Robb - Cooper Robb is the lone senior starter in the Cardinals lineup. He has signed with UNC-Charlotte and is the point guard for Coach Hicks' squad. Many people will tell you he is the straw the stirs the drink for the Cardinals and I will not argue that. He shoots it better then you think, he handles it better then you think, and he can flat out guard. If the Cardinals do cut down the nets this week Cooper Robb will be one of if not the main reason for it. Diablo Stewart - Diablo Stewart was a new addition to the Cardinals this season but has fit right in with Coach Hicks' squad. He enters the state tournament averaging 12.1 points per game. Along with Cooper Robb and Bryce Long he anchors a solid backcourt that is tough to guard. He can also handle the ball if opponents are trying to get it out of Robb's hand and is shooting 43.9% from the 3 point line on the season. The Cardinals enter the tournament as one of the heavy favorites along with Trinity and Covington Catholic. Unfortunately, for most of us as spectators Scott County and Trinity will meet in the first round. While it may be disappointing to some it is the beauty of this tournament. I will say if and its a huge if but if Scott County does get by Trinity expect them to cut down the nets Sunday afternoon.
  3. Marshall beats MTSU twice WKU beats Marshall twice MTSU beats WKU twice Weird stuff going on in CUSA and right in the middle of that you have Old Dominion who is pretty darn good too. Should be a good week of hoops at the conference tournament this week.
  4. Tops win. Honestly, I'm more worried about the game at UAB then this one.
  5. The recent success of NKU and the quick turn around at WKU have really hurt EKU. Less then 4 years ago NKU was a D2 school and now are competing to win conference championships. Think of where WKU was less then 2 years ago after the departure of Ray Harper and where they are now. McHale seems like a good guy but good guys don't always have success at the coaching level. Hopefully EKU makes a good hire and gets the program flowing in the right direction. Wish Coach McHale the best of luck wherever he ends up.
  6. The regional tournament is finally upon us in what is arguably the toughest region in the state of Kentucky. This is one of the most exciting weeks around the state and it is even more magnified in the 11th Region. If you can win the 11th you can win the whole thing!! The draw was interesting with one side loaded up and the other side looking like an easy path for a prohibitive favorite. Lets check out the bracket. Lexington Christian Academy(25-7) vs. Frankfort(16-13)- The opening game of the 11th Region tournament offers us a rematch of the 11th Region All A tournament. Lexington Christian comes in as arguably the hottest team in the state after capturing their second consecutive 43rd District Championship. Frankfort comes in as an unexpected runner up. After finishing the regular season undefeated in the 41st District, Frankfort fell to Woodford County in the championship game. The Panthers have struggled with LCA's size the past couple of years in the All A and I don't expect much to change this time around. Frankfort's guards could give LCA fits on a bigger court but I don't expect it to be enough to knock off the likes of Rode, Hendrickson, and Hall. Look for LCA to move on to the semi finals in comfortable fashion. Madison Central(24-7) vs. Bryan Station(23-7) - This will be the 3rd meeting of the season for these two teams. The Defenders came away with the win in both of the previous meetings. This is by far the best first round matchup in the tournament and maybe the whole state. Two teams who have been inside the top 10 rankings all year and have a handful of impressive victories. I think Bryan Station has the best player on the floor in the game in Eric Boone but I think Madison Central is the better overall team. Look for playing in Richmond to also be a huge factor in the outcome of this game as well, as the Indian faithful always pack the place out. I'm going with Madison Central in this one by 5. Scott County(31-1) vs. Madison Southern(12-19) - Not really much to say about this game other then it could be the start of a big week for the Cardinals as they aim to repeat as 11th region champions. Madison Southern once again finds itself in the 11th region tournament and this game will be good experience for some of Coach Buttry's younger players. Expect this game to hit a running clock as Scott County rolls on to the semi finals. Woodford County(17-13) vs Lafayette(20-9) - I look at this game as the sleeper matchup in the first round of the region tournament. Lafayette hasn't been playing their best basketball lately and Woodford managed to pull together two wins last week and seem to maybe have righted the ship. If the Yellow Jackets can endure the Lafayette pressure and handle big Ray Surrat down low they have a shot at this one. Ill go with Lafayette in a close one by 7. I fully expect to see Scott County in the finals of the region tournament. The tough part is who will they play. Their are arguably 3 teams that could make it to the finals out of the top portion of the bracket. All 3 have had outstanding years and will be a tough out. At this point I'm going with........ Madison Central vs. Scott County Good luck to everyone this week. I'm looking forward to an awesome tournament as always!!
  7. The regular season has come to a close and the 11th Region sets at the top once again as the toughest region in the state of Kentucky. Weve had a lot of ups and downs in the rankings this season but one thing has remained the same....the Scott County Cardinals are the class of the region. Having said that their is a handful of teams that have proven they can compete with anyone in the state and will surely give the Cardinals a run for their money in the next few weeks!! Team of the Week Lexington Christian Academy - What a week for the Eagles. Possibly the best week any team in the 11th has had all year!! The Eagles hit the road 3 times this week and picked up 3 impressive wins over Lafayette, Bryan Station, and Trinity. The All A champions look primed for a postseason run!! Congrats to the Eagles on a great week!! Player of the Week Marques Warrick - Henry Clay - Marques Warrick picks up our player of the week for the past week. Helping lead the Henry Clay Blue Devils to 2 wins. Against GRC he poured in 27 points helping Henry Clay spring the upset and then had another stellar performance against Taylor County to end the week. Congrats to Marques on a great week!! Final Team Rankings 1. Scott County (29-1) - What a great season for the Cardinals! Undefeated against in state competition and 15-0 against 11th Region teams. This past week the Cardinals picked up 3 blowout wins against Adair County, Covington Holy Cross, and Paul Laurence Dunbar. The Cardinals are the #1 seed in the 42nd District and await the winner of Sayre and Frederick Douglass in the 1st round. Look for the Cardinals to get to the district finals with relative ease. 2. Lexington Christian Academy (23-7) - At the beginning of the season the Eagles were one of the top ranked teams in all of the state. They had a slow start to the year and at one point were 7-6. Since that time all LCA has done is go 16-1, win an ALL A State Championship, and established themselves as a serious contender for Scott County's Region crown. This past week they picked 3 impressive wins all on the road over Lafayette, Bryan Station, and Trinity. The Eagles are the #3 seed in the 43rd District tournament and will face off against Lexington Catholic in the 1st round, a team that has beaten them twice! For the Eagles to challenge for the region crown they first have to get by the Knights! 3. Madison Central (22-7) - The Indians hot streak finally came to an end this week as they fell at home to a great Covington Catholic team. That loss does not take away from an absolute awesome season for the Indians. They are another team that looks ready to take a shot at Scott County. They start the postseason off with a first round district game against Berea and then look to take back the district tournament championship they lost last season. Expect to see the Indians right there at the end of the season challenging to go to Rupp Arena. 4. Bryan Station (22-6) - The Defenders came into the season relatively quiet, not many people around the state or region were saying much about them. They had an amazing year and picked up a lot of good wins. Last week the Defenders beat up on Taylor County before falling big to LCA. They will have to erase all that as they prepare for arguably the toughest 2/3 game in the state of Kentucky as they will face off with Henry Clay for the right to advance to the regional tournament. Eric "Boss" Boone will have to come ready to carry his team for the Defenders to get over that hump for the third time this season. 5. Henry Clay (18-11) - At the beginning of the season I said I wasn't sure what the Blue Devils would look like this season. They've had some really good wins(Madison Central) and some head scratching losses(twice to PLD), but Henry Clay seems to be playing its best basketball at the right time. Last week, Henry Clay picked up 2 wins over GRC and Taylor County. The win over GRC broke the Cardinals 15 game winning streak. As mentioned above the Blue Devils will face off with Bryan Station to begin the district in what could be an epic encounter. 6. Lexington Catholic (18-9) - The Knights have had an interesting season. They've beaten LCA twice, played 2 games in a 2 1/2 week span, and lost some games by huge margins. Last week the Knights split against a pair of 12th region teams, first beating Lincoln County and then falling at Wayne County by 6. Unfortunately, we may not know how good the Knights could've been at the end with the loss of Zan Payne. The Knights start out the district tournament against LCA in another awesome 2/3 matchup. The Knights have beaten LCA 2 times this season but without Zan it will a tough road to get win #3 but never count out the Knights. 7. Lafayette (19-8) - At one point this season an argument could be made the Generals were the 2nd best team in the region, and some nights they are. Lately they haven't looked the part though. This past week they got blown out by LCA and hung on for a narrow victory over Frederick Douglass. Lafayette did take care of business in the regular season district play and came away with the #1 seed. They will play the winner of Tates Creek/Dunbar in the first round. If the Generals overlook that game they could be in for a long night. As always the 43rd District is a beast!! 8. Paul Laurence Dunbar (11-14) - The Bulldogs are probably the most improved team in the 11th Region from the beginning of the season until now. After starting off a dreadful 2-10 PLD has bounced back nicely to finish the season 9-4 and picked up some nice wins along the way. Last week the Bulldogs got by a nice West Jessamine team before falling hard at Scott County. PLD starts out postseason play against Tates Creek in the 4/5 game of the 43rd District tournament and then would face Lafayette in what could be a sleeper of a game in the district tournament. 9. Frankfort (15-12) - The Panthers have had an up and down season but like I have said all year, when they have their full team they can play with almost anyone in this region. Last week the Panthers picked up 3 wins on the road over Berea, Madison Southern, and Thomas Nelson. Frankfort is the #1 seed in the 41st District and will play host Western Hills to start off the postseason. Expect to see the Panthers at the 11th Region tournament looking to spoil someone's season!! 10. Frederick Douglass (13-16) - The Broncos inaugural season saw some ups and downs. With only 1 senior on the roster its safe to say Frederick Douglass over achieved in my book. Last week the Broncos came away 0-2 but challenged two good teams down to the wire with close losses to GRC and Lafayette. The Broncos will start off with Sayre in the 4/5 game of the 42nd District tournament and then will face off with Scott County if they advance past the Spartans. 11. Franklin County (13-16) - The Flyers enter the week looking for their 4th straight district championship but have a tough road to get there. Last week they picked up 2 home wins over Harrison County and Anderson County to end the season. They will start out with Woodford County in the 2/3 game of the 41st District tournament. The two teams split this season so expect round 3 to be a slugfest!! 12. Woodford County (15-13) - The Yellow Jackets were the hottest team in the 11th Region to start off the 2017-18 season. Starting the season at 11-2!! Since then they have gone 4-11, not the direction you want to be headed this time of year. Last week the Jackets lost a heartbreaker to Mercer County on a last second shot and then throttled Bourbon County. As mentioned above they start the post season off with Franklin County in what should be a great opening round district matchup! 13. Model (17-10) -The Patriots had an excellent year and have themselves in prime position to advance to the 11th Region tournament. Last week they went 1-1 with a win over Nicholas County and a loss to Jackson County. The Patriots will face off with Madison Southern to start district play. Model beat Madison Southern close in the regular season and if they can do it again they will be in the 11th Region tournament for the first time in a while!! 14. Sayre (13-16) - The Spartans have had an up and down year as expected by all they lost to graduation a year ago. Last week Sayre picked up wins over Western Hills and St. Francis before falling to East Jessamine in a close one. Sayre starts out the postseason with a 4/5 game against Frederick Douglass in the 42nd District Tournament. 15. Tates Creek (5-24) - The Commodores have risen from the depths of the rankings this week after a win over Madison Southern for only their 2nd win over regional competition this season. Tates Creek couldn't celebrate for long as Paris beat them down in their last regular season game. This week the Commodores face off with Paul Laurence Dunbar in the 4/5 game of the 43rd District tournament. Can Tates Creek pick up their first win over a city foe in almost 3 years? We shall see. 16. Madison Southern (11-18) - The Eagles have had a tough year but after graduating 95% of your scoring from a season ago what can you expect. Last week the Eagles dropped 3 games to Tates Creek, Frankfort, and Whitley County. Madison Southern will face off with Model to begin district play and don't be surprised if you see them at EKU when the region tournament starts. 17. Western Hills (10-20) - The Wolverines once again find themselves towards the bottom of the region and with the 4 seed in the district tournament. Western Hills has 1 41st District regular season win in the past 6 seasons. Last week they fell to Sayre, Wolfe County, and Garrard County but picked up a win over Louisville Collegiate to get to the 10 win mark. They will face off with Frankfort to being district play. 18. Berea (14-11) - The Pirates did win 14 games this season, although it wasn't against the best competition but there is nothing wrong with that when you are Berea. Last week they went 1-1 with a loss to Frankfort but a win over Frankfort Christian Academy. They will start out the district tournament against Madison Central..... Next week I will preview the regional tournament and give my All Region Teams. District Tournament Schedule 41st District @ Western Hills Tuesday Feb. 20th - Western Hills vs. Frankfort Wednesday Feb. 21st - Franklin County vs. Woodford County Friday Feb. 23rd - District Championship 42nd District @ Frederick Douglass Monday Feb. 19th - Sayre vs. Frederick Douglass Wednesday Feb. 21st - Henry Clay vs. Bryan Station Wednesday Feb. 21st - Winner of 4/5 vs. Scott County Friday Feb. 23rd - District Championship 43rd District @ LCA Monday Feb. 19th - Tates Creek vs. Paul Laurence Dunbar Tuesday Feb. 20th - LCA vs. Lexington Catholic Wednesday Feb. 21st - Winner of 4/5 vs. Lafayette Friday Feb. 23rd - District Championship 44th District @ EKU Monday Feb. 19th - Model vs. Madison Southern Tuesday Feb. 20th - Berea vs. Madison Central Friday Feb. 23rd - District Championship Players to Watch in the Post-Season 1. Eric "Boss" Boone - Bryan Station - Player of the Year Easily the most valuable player to any team in the region this season. Eric Boone was a stat sheet stuffer for the Bryan Station Defenders. Numerous times he led the team in all statistical categories. Finished the season averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds a game. 2. Michael Moreno - Scott County Another huge season for Scott County's best player Michael Moreno. Year after year he just continues to improve and impress. Moreno led the 29-1 and #1 ranked Cardinals with 20.2 points per game and 10.4 rebounds a game this season. 3. Carter Hendrickson - Lexington Christian Academy The North Florida university signee had a HUGE year for the Eagles. The leading scorer on a team full of offensive weapons, Carter paced the Eagles with 19.1 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game all while shooting a blistering 39% from the 3!! 4. Dustin Geralds - Madison Central Not the first name you think of when you think about the Indians but by far their most valuable player. Pouring in a team leading 16 points a game and 9.3 rebounds a game, his worth on the defensive end of the floor cant go unmentioned. 5. Marques Warrick - Henry Clay A relative unknown at the beginning of the season, Warrick became an offensive force for the Blue Devils as the season progressed. Averaging 17.8 points per game and 7.8 rebounds, Warrick announced his presence as a must see player for the next 2 seasons. 2nd Team 1. Cooper Robb - Scott County The "head of the snake" that is Scott County basketball, Cooper Robb had another outstanding year. Averaging 14.8 points and 5 rebounds a game Cooper continues to be steady force that leads the potent Cardinal attack. 2. Isaiah Cozart - Madison Central - Defensive Player of the Year Good luck getting a clean look in the paint against the Indians this season with Cozart lurking. The all time single season block shot leader in KHSAA history continues to improve his overall game. Scoring 13.7 points per game and pulling down 9.7 rebounds a contest, Cozart still has another season and the all time career block shot record in his sights. 3. Kyle Rode - Lexington Christian Academy A kid that seems like he has been playing for 10 years, Kyle Rode produced another stellar year for the Eagles. The junior guard did it all for LCA scoring at a clip of 14.9 points per game and pulling down 7.9 rebounds a game. His ability to run the offense is what really makes him special. 4. Eric Powell - Lafayette The Generals main scoring threat, Powell can shoot it from deep but also take you off the bounce if you don't respect him. Scoring 13.8 points per game and pulling down 4.5 rebounds a game, Powell stroked it from deep at a 40.8% clip!! 5. Zan Payne - Lexington Catholic A season ending injury cut the career of Zan Payne short but what a year he had prior to that. Scoring at 19.8 points per game and pulling down 8.7 rebounds per game, Payne will be sorely missed by the Knights in the postseason. Coach Of The Year Tommy Johnson - Bryan Station Coming off a mediocre year last year where the Defenders finished at 13-13 and lost kids to graduation and to redistricting, no team had a more marked improvement then the Defenders. Picked middle of the pack in the region preseason, Bryan Station had an outstanding season finishing at 22-6 and thrusting themselves into the discussion of regional champions.
  8. Senior guard Mashayla Cecil of Paul Laurence Dunbar is approaching the FCPS Public School scoring record. She currently sits at 2,113 points and the record is 2,125 points set by Lafayette's Kiara Pankins last season. Congrats to Mashayla on an outstand career and accomplishment!!
  9. I assume you mean LCA would worry you. Hacker plays for LCA.
  10. Adair would be probably number 4 or 5 in the 5th region come regional tournament time. John Hardin, LaRue County, ETown, and maybe Central Hardin all better then them right now.
  11. The final week of the season is upon us and what a season it has been in the 11th Region. As always with this region we talk about it being one of the top regions in the state along with the 6th and 7th. I believe this year the 11th has been far and away the toughest most competitive region overall in the state. A couple of state championship contenders loom at the top of the rankings followed by a group of 3/4 teams that can beat anyone on any given night. Lets check out what is going on in the 11th Region this week! Team of the Week Madison Central - Not only are the Indians the hottest team in the region right now, they may be the hottest team in the state! This past week Madison Central picked up a pair of blowout victories on the road at Lexington Catholic and at home against Franklin County. The tribe continue to roll!! Player of the Week Eric Boone - Bryan Station - Eric Boone picks up another Player of the Week award. Over the week Eric averaged 24 points and 11 rebounds in 3 games in which the Defenders went 2-1. Congrats to Eric on a great week and a great season! Team Rankings 1. Scott County (26-1) - The Cardinals remain in the #1 spot this week where they have been all season. Last week Scott County defeated Woodford County on the road in a close game where Moreno and Robb didn't play the second half and then handled Floyd Central at home over the weekend. This week Scott County welcomes Zion Harmon and Adair County to Georgetown along with Paul Laurence Dunbar and sandwiches a trip to Covington Holy Cross in between. 2. Madison Central (21-6) - Our team of the week, the Indians just continue to roll along. This past week they picked up two big blowout wins over Franklin County and Lexington Catholic. I wasn't surprised they beat the Knights, however I was surprised at the margin, 37!! Two big games loom this week for the Indians as they travel to South Laurel to face a good Cardinal team and then come home to host Covington Catholic in a showdown between 2 of the state's top teams. 3. Lafayette (18-7) - The Generals avenged and early season loss to Bryan Station this week with an impressive 16 point victory over the Defenders. This weekend they fell hard to an outstanding Trinity team. All is not lost however for the Generals, due to a loss by LCA, Lafayette is now the #1 seed in the 43rd District tournament. That in itself is a win in that murders row of a district. This week the Generals host LCA and head to Frederick Douglass to wrap up the regular season. 4. Bryan Station (21-5) - The Defenders started off the week losing on the road to a good Lafayette team but did manage to salvage the week with a blowout victory over Tates Creek and an impressive road victory over a good Pulaski County team. Eric Boone continues to carry the Defenders as they head into the final week of the season. This week Bryan Station hosts Taylor County and LCA to finish up what has been an outstanding regular season. 5. Lexington Catholic (17-8) - The Knights had one of the most up and down weeks a team can have this past week. Early in the week they were dismantled by Madison Central at home, then defeated LCA on the road in overtime in what some people would label an instant classic, then finished the week with a win at Taylor County in blowout fashion. Unfortunately, for the Knights the win over LCA came at a grave cost, as big man Zan Payne was lost for the season in a gruesome leg injury at the end of the 4th quarter. Get well soon to Zan, a long road ahead for him. Up next the Knights finish the regular season with a home game against Lincoln County then head to Wayne County at the end of the week. 6. Lexington Christian Academy (20-7) - The Eagles entered the week with a chance to still claim the #1 seed in the 43rd District tournament. The week started well with a blowout victory over Tates Creek but ended with an overtime loss to Lexington Catholic. With that loss the Eagles are locked in as the 3 seed in the 43rd District which will result in a rematch with the Knights in 2 weeks time. I do believe the Eagles will finish this season well above the #6 line in the region but for now with results of the past week, this is where they will be. Up next is a chance to make a huge statement this week as the Eagles hit the road for matchups at Lafayette, at Bryan Station, and at Trinity. If the Eagles can manage 3 wins I believe the outlook might be a lot different in the region prior to the postseason. 7. Paul Laurence Dunbar (10-13) - The 7th ranked team in this region has a losing record and is the 4 seed in their own district. but make no mistake if the Bulldogs were in any other region in the state they would be near the top. This past week Dunbar picked up 2 city wins on the road over Frederick Douglass and Henry Clay in overtime. The win over Henry Clay came from a half court buzzer beater by Robbie Kinnard. This week is no easier as the Bulldogs host a good West Jessamine team and then head to Scott County to end the week. 8. Henry Clay (16-11) - The Blue Devils continue their streaky play. As I said at the beginning of the season this is just a team I cant figure out. This week the Blue Devils picked up wins over 41st District foes Franklin County and Woodford County and then dropped an overtime decision to Dunbar. Dunbar has beaten the Blue Devils twice this year both times in the last month so for that I have to rank PLD slightly above Henry Clay. Up next for the Blue Devils is a matchup with a top 10th Region team GRC and then they head to Taylor County to end the week. 9. Frankfort (12-12) - The Panthers finished the week 1-1 with a win over Bourbon County and a close loss at 12th Region favorite Mercer County by 7. John Tillman missed the victory over Bourbon but returned to play spot minutes for the Panthers at Mercer County. Up next the Panthers host Berea before heading to Madison Southern and Thomas Nelson to finish the regular season. 10. Frederick Douglass (13-14) - The Broncos finished the week 1-1 as well. Picking up a win over Floyd Central in a battle of 2 first year schools, and dropping a close one to PLD. The Broncos wrap up their inaugural season with home games against GRC and Lafayette. 11. Woodford County (14-12) - The Yellow Jackets are losers of 4 in a row but have been playing some tight contests against good competition. This past week they dropped 3 close games to West Jessamine, Scott County, and Henry Clay. This week the Yellow Jackets head to Mercer County and host Bourbon County to end the regular season. 12. Franklin County (11-16) - The Flyers have lost 3 in a row but a lot like Woodford County it comes against stellar competition. The lost two games this week on the road at Henry Clay and Madison Central. Franklin County will end the regular season with home games against Harrison County and Anderson County. 13. Model (16-9) - The Patriots only had 1 game this past week but picked up an impressive win over 10th Region All A champion Robertson County. The Patriots will finish the season with a trip to Nicholas County before hosting Jackson County in the season finale. 14. Madison Southern (11-15) - The Eagles finished the week 1-2 picking up a win over Western Hills and falling to GRC and Pikeville. Up next the Eagles will host Tates Creek and Frankfort with a trip to Whitley County sandwiched in between. 15. Sayre (11-15) - The Spartans finished the week 1-1 with a win over Nicholas County and a close loss to a decent Wolfe County team at the end of the week. This week the Spartans close out the regular season with two home games against Western Hills and St. Francis and a trip to East Jessamine. 16. Western Hills (9-17) - The Wolverines finished the week at 2-1 picking up wins over Berea and Nicholas County but fell to Madison Southern. Western Hills hasn't finished a season with more then 10 wins since the 2010/11 season and they have a chance to do that this week as they head to Sayre and then finish the week at home with games against Wolfe County and Garrard County. 17. Berea (13-10) - The Pirates had a nice week with two double digit victories over Owsley County and Burgin and a close loss to Western Hills. That was enough to just barely move them past Tates Creek and out of the cellar. The Pirates end the season with a road game against Frankfort and then the home finale against Frankfort Christian Academy. 18. Tates Creek (4-23) - Its hard to believe it and I never thought I would actually put them at the bottom but results of teams above speak for themselves. The losing streak for the Commodores has reached 14 and this past week wasn't much better they fell to LCA and Bryan Station in blowout fashion. This week the regular season comes to a close with a trip to Madison Southern before the Paris Greyhounds visit Lexington. 12. This is wrong. The score is backward. Catholic won this game 65-42. Must've been reported wrong!
  13. Was open to all teams. I believe 16 teams of the 18 in the region participated. They had a consolation bracket also for teams that lost the 1st game so a 2 game guarantee.
  14. I don't mean it as a dig on anyone on this forum or anything like that. We just don't always get everything reported with scores across all forms of media. For example when Madison Central beat Trinity nobody wanted to mention Trinity's point guard, Justin Powell didn't play. It's just a general statement. Our society as a whole gets caught up in results and not the whole story. Obviously if you take two D1 kids out of a game for 2 1/2 quarters a game can change but that's not news. News is Woodford only lost by 4.
  15. I don't have a 100% answer to that but I believe to somewhat rest them. Game isn't a district seeded game so maybe hats part of it.
  16. It was 32-12 in the second quarter and Moreno and Robb were taken out and didn't return to the game. We have a bad habit in this state of people not reporting all the facts about games. Makes me laugh.
  17. Anyone gonna have a box?? I gotta see how many 3s PC shot and made. Sounded like a ton on the update thread. High level game in the 10th tonight.
  18. I was sitting in the stands with a friend of mine at the Bryan Station/Scott County game volume 1 at Bryan Station. At halftime Station was up 12 and I looked at my friend and said "if Station losses this game it will have far lingering effects on them then it will on Scott County if they lose." So far that theory has held true. I think coaches and teams around the area are starting to figure Bryan Station out to an extent. Eric Boone has played at a high level all year long but he has come a little closer down to earth in the last few weeks. Now, I don't say that as a dig on him or that he isn't still playing great because he is. I think he is a top 5 candidate for Mr. Basketball and should be the Player of the Year in the 11th Region. But he has come back down a little maybe because of a small injury or fatigue or whatever reason it may be. I also think teams are starting to figure out you have to let someone else on the team beat you other then Boone. When Bryan Station played Dunbar without Eric Boone and lost I think it showed a crack in the armor. So the way teams defend and attack Station has started to change. Boss can only do so much but for this team to get back to being at the level they were Burbage, Clayton-Murphy, Curry, and Morones HAVE to start to produce somewhere close to where they were at the beginning of the year. Station is such a intensity driven team, they thrive off the tempo and the atmosphere and getting teams out of their comfort level. If they don't have that swag or that killer mentality they lose confidence and honestly to me with the exception of Eric Boone, it looks like the rest of them have lost confidence and that's they worst thing to happen this time of year.
  19. Probably wasn't a good idea to get on your Instagram live at the Arby's Classic and make a statement like "We are probably gonna win a state championship this season" in such a casual tone like its easy.
  20. In all honesty this doesn't surprise me too much. Maybe the 38 point margin but not the overall dominating win. Madison Central is THAT good and in all reality while nobody wants to admit it, Lexington Catholic just isn't very good this season. They have played 2 games in 2 1/2 weeks prior to this one. Their most impressive win to date is over LCA on January 2nd(LCA hasn't lost since). Other then that they really don't have a win where you think "ohh wow that's a big win". On the other hand Madison Central has numerous quality wins and are playing at a much higher level then Lexington Catholic right now. I don't think anyone expected a 38 point margin of victory but a comfortable win by Madison Central is no shock to me.
  21. Coming from a 12th Region homer like you!! I might print this off, frame it, and hang it on my wall!! In all seriousness the region is loaded this year. Its hard to do the rankings week to week after #1. I look forward to the district and regional tournaments this season. Sadly I have a feeling, which I have had for a while, that Bryan Station is trending in the wrong direction.
