  1. Another week of high level basketball has come and gone in the 11th Region. One thing we know for sure I who sits at the top without a doubt. After the #1 spot it gets a little crazy. You could make an argument for up to 5 different teams to be ranked #2. I'm going to do my best as always to break down this region!! Lets get to it!! Team Of the Week Scott County - The Cardinals had one of the more impressive weeks to date this past week. They picked up 3 wins over 3 quality opponents, Bryan Station, Henry Clay, and John Hardin, cementing themselves as the favorite to win this region. Congrats to the Cardinals!! Player of the Week Marques Warrick - Henry Clay - This week Marques Warrick takes home our player of the week. Marques hit a huge last second shot for the Blue Devils to help upset Madison Central early in the week. He finished the week averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds in 3 games helping lead Henry Clay to a 2-1 record for the week. Congrats to Marques!! Team Rankings 1. Scott County (24-1) - The more things change the more they stay the same!! The Cardinals remain our #1 team for the 10th consecutive week. This week they may have been more impressive then any week to date. To begin the week they hosted Bryan Station in the much anticipated rematch from the previous week. The game was never close and the Cardinals won in impressive fashion 105-65!!! All that without Cooper Robb! Later in the week they picked up wins over Henry Clay and another beat down over a top 25 team in John Hardin by 25!! What a week!! Up next the Cardinals head to Woodford County and host Floyd Central. 2. Madison Central (19-6) - We have a new #2!! The Madison Central Indians take over the #2 spot this week. The Indians finished 2-1 this past week dropping a heartbreaker on the road at Henry Clay on a last second shot but bounced back nicely by dismantling Harrison County and then taking Ballard to the woodshed on Saturday. The win over Ballard was the worst loss from a Kentucky team Ballard has had in the past 20 years. Impressive run lately for the Indians and enough to move them up to the #2 spot. This week Madison Central heads to Lexington Catholic and hosts Franklin County. 3. Lexington Christian Academy (19-6) - At one point this season the Eagles sat at 7-6 and I had them ranked as low as 7th. I stated at that time that we were waiting for the real LCA to show up. Well they have!! Winners of 12 in a row the Eagles are finally starting to look like the team we all expected at the beginning of the season. This past week LCA picked up wins over Covington Holy Cross and Lafayette. The Lafayette win was HUGE and keeps LCA in the chase for the ever elusive 1 seed in the 43rd District. This week presents two more district challenges for the Eagles as they head to Tates Creek and then host Lexington Catholic to end the week. 4. Bryan Station (19-4) - The Defenders take their first drop in the rankings this week after the big loss at Scott County. However they did bounce back and beat a good Frankfort team on the road by 20. Unfortunately for Bryan Station they are now ensured of playing the 2/3 district first round game against Henry Clay in the 42nd District tournament. This week Bryan Station heads to Lafayette, hosts Tates Creek, and heads to Pulaski County this weekend. The schedule gets no easier for the Defenders. 5. Lafayette (17-6) - The Generals drop a few spots this week after a tough loss to LCA which has opened the door for someone to take over the #1 seed in the 43rd District. All was not lost this past week as they picked up wins over Lexington Catholic and Anderson County. Up next the Generals host Bryan Station and Trinity so another big week for Lafayette. 6. Lexington Catholic (15-7) - The Knights are a tough team to figure out for me because they have only played 2 games in the last 2 1/2 weeks. Its hard to really tell where they are at or where they could be. Last week in their only game they fell to Lafayette in a close game. Up next Lexington Catholic hosts Madison Central before heading to Lexington Christian and Taylor County to end the week. Have to wonder how the Knights will respond to playing more games this week then in the previous 2 weeks combined. 7. Henry Clay (14-10) - The Blue Devils had a nice week picking up a big win over Tates Creek, beating Madison Central, losing closely at Scott County, and beating another good team in South Laurel. Coach Brown seems to have his team trending in the right direction as we hit the stretch run. This week the Blue Devils hosts 3 games against Franklin County, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Woodford County. 8. Paul Laurence Dunbar (8-13) - The Bulldogs have won 4 of their last 5 games and the one loss was on the road to Paris by 1. PLD finished 2-1 on the week dropping the game at Paris but bounced back and beat Tates Creek by 20 without their top 2 scorers playing and then dismantled Western Hills over the weekend. Up next Dunbar will head to Frederick Douglass and Henry Clay. 9. Frankfort (11-11) - The Panthers finished the week 1-2 but the two losses came without leading scorer Juanya Frank who was serving a 2 game suspension then ended the week with big man John Tillman suffering a serious ankle injury that could see him miss more time. They fell to Shelby County and Bryan Station but got past Eastern on Saturday to somewhat salvage the week. Up next the Panthers host Bourbon County before hitting the road to Mercer County. 10. Woodford County (14-9) - The Yellow Jackets finished the week 1-1 with a blowout win over Western Hills then a head scratching 1 point loss to Casey County. Not sure how that Casey County loss happened but it did. A tough week looms for Woodford County as they host West Jessamine and Scott County then head to Henry Clay. 11. Frederick Douglass (12-13) - The Broncos had a full slate last week playing 5 games and finishing 3-2 with wins over Bourbon County, Tates Creek, and Sayre and dropping games to Bryan Station and Knox Central. Up next the Broncos host Paul Laurence Dunbar and Floyd Central. 12. Franklin County (11-14) - The Flyers are starting to play better down the stretch they finished 1-2 last week. A close loss on the road at Marion County and a close home loss to PRP but a win over Bourbon in between. Next up the Flyers head to Henry Clay and Madison Central, a tough week for sure. 13. Sayre (10-14) - The Spartans finished the week 1-1 with a win over Tates Creek and a loss to Frederick Douglass. This is the 3rd year in a row the Spartans have picked up a win over Tates Creek, impressive for them. Up next the Spartans head to Nicholas County and host Wolfe County. 14. Model (15-9) - The Patriots are continuing to drop in our rankings after a nice start to the season. They have now dropped 6 in a row and look to get back on track this week as they head to Robertson County in the only game on the schedule. 15. Madison Southern (10-14) - The Eagles picked up a win over East Jessamine last week but fell to Somerset, Clinton County, and GRC. Up next for Madison Southern they hit the road to play Pikeville. 16. Western Hills (7-15) - The Wolverines finished 1-3 on the week with a 1 point win over Model and losses to Woodford County, Bullitt Central, and Paul Laurence Dunbar. This week Western Hills hosts Nicholas County and Berea. 17. Tates Creek (4-21) - The losing streak has reached 12 for the Commodores after 5 losses last week to Henry Clay, Sayre, Frederick Douglass, Dunbar, and Knox Central. The only thing keeping Tates Creek from the bottom of the rankings is I think they would probably beat Berea head to head but at this point who knows. This week they head to LCA and host Bryan Station. 18. Berea (11-9) - The Pirates won their only game of the week last week outlasting Nicholas County by 2. This week they host Owsley County, and Burgin, head to Lee County, and end the week at Western Hills. Games of the Week Tuesday Feb. 6th Bryan Station @ Lafayette Madison Central @ Lexington Catholic Friday Feb. 9th Lexington Catholic @ Lexington Christian Academy Trinity @ Lafayette Saturday Feb. 10th Bryan Station @ Pulaski County
  2. WKU trailed the whole game. At one point it was 17. 3 wins in a row for UTSA over UAB, Marshall, and WKU. That's not a bad stretch.
  3. Never easy in the 11th!! But if you get out of the 11th you go to Rupp knowing you can win it. Not every other region can say that!
  4. Depends on how they finish out I don't see them any higher then a 11 or 12. If they were to win out and then lose in the conference championship I think they have a shot at an at large. Obviously winning then conference tournament would be much better but CUSA is tough this year, especially at the top.
  5. I made a comment early in the season that this team was leaps and bounds ahead of last years team talent and athleticism wise. A poster told me there was no way they would be better. I just like to throw it out there as a dig every once in a while. No harm meant.
  6. Hilltoppers win their 5th straight on the road and improve to 16-6 overall and 8-1 in Conference USA to remain a 1/2 game behind MTSU for 1st place. Justin Johnson led the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Taveion Hollingsworth scored 17 points including 5 three point baskets all in the second half. Up next WKU heads to UTSA on Saturday afternoon for what should be a pretty good game. UTSA has back to back wins over UAB and Marshall. With this win WKU surpasses their win total from a year ago. No chance they will be a better team this year then last though ;)
  7. It was a physical game but it never should've gotten to that point. GRC was up 20 when they took out Philpot and Graham to avoid any further issues for the 2 of them. Shortly after Johnson went down with the concussion. Ugly ugly game glad nobody was hurt more then the concussion.
  8. Another big week has come and gone in the always tough 11th Region. While I think we have a unanimous #1 in the region, 2-6 could be anyone at this point. A ton of good games on the slate this week. Lets get right to it!! Team Of The Week Lexington Christian Academy - The Eagles are an easy pick for this weeks team of the week after winning the All A State Classic. Congrats to Coach Valentine and the rest of the Eagles for bringing home their first All A State Title. Also, congrats to Kyle Rode for being named the MVP of the tournament and Carter Hendricksen, Will Hacker, and Austin Hall for being named to the All Tournament Team for the Eagles. Player of the Week Michael Moreno - Scott County - Michael Moreno brings home his second player of the week award. After leading Scott County to 3 wins this week and averaging 20 points and 17 rebounds on the week, Michael was an easy pick for this weeks player of the week. Congrats to Michael!! Team Rankings 1. Scott County (21-1) - The Cardinals cemented themselves at the #1 spot this past week by going to Bryan Station and coming away with a big win in a game where they trailed by double figures at the half. The Cardinals also picked up wins over Frederick Douglass and Taylor County this week. Up next is Round 2 of Scott County/Bryan Station this time in Georgetown then the Cardinals host district rival Henry Clay and face a good John Hardin team at Lafayette as part of the Jock Sutherland Classic. 2. Bryan Station (17-3) - The Defenders had a tough week. First, they dropped the much anticipated game against Scott County, then Eric Boone suffered a small injury in a win over Sayre which caused him to miss the next game against Dunbar which resulted in a loss for the Defenders. I'm not ready to drop them from the 2 spot. They showed they can play with Scott County and after the 1st half of that game many folks would've thought they were going to be our new number 1. Quick turnaround for the Defenders as they host Frederick Douglass then travel to Scott County early this week before heading to a tough Frankfort team at the end of the week. 3. Lafayette (15-5) - The Generals continue their winning ways this week picking up 2 quality victories on the road over Paul Laurence Dunbar and Henry Clay. Lafayette is one of the hottest teams in the state right now. This is a HUGE week for them as far as the 43rd District is concerned. Early in the week the Generals host Lexington Catholic before they head to Lafayette in two huge matchups. The Generals could find themselves locked in at the 1 seed in the 43rd District by the end of the week. This week Lafayette hosts a great event, the Jock Sutherland Classic, the Generals play host to Anderson County in that one. 4. Madison Central (17-5) - The Indians have an argument to be ranked higher then this and like I said at the beginning you can put teams 2-6 in a hat and draw them out and anyone could fill those spots. Madison Central went 3-0 this week with wins over Montgomery County, West Jessamine, and of course the big win over Trinity. The win over Trinity is about as big as it gets. This is another big week for the Indians as they head to Henry Clay, Harrison County, and then end the week with another visit from a top Louisville school in Ballard. I really like Madison Central and I believe they could be higher but with two losses against Bryan Station and a split with Lafayette, with Lafayette winning the latest one this is where they are.....for now. 5. Lexington Christian Academy (17-6) - As mentioned above the Eagles are our team of the week. Congrats to them on winning the All A State tournament this past week!! This week might be a bigger week for them then last. The Eagles host Covington Holy Cross this week and then welcome Lafayette to Reynolds Road for a HUGE 43rd District matchup. If the Eagles want any chance of getting the ever elusive 1 seed in that district they MUST win this week. Ive mentioned before Ive been waiting to see the real LCA and I believe they have arrived. The next two weeks will really set the tone for the postseason. 6. Lexington Catholic (15-6) - - The Knights drop a spot in the rankings really to no fault of their own. Lexington Catholic only had 1 game last week and they throttled Tates Creek. This week again only one game but its a big one. The rematch with Lafayette this time at Lafayette. For Catholic to have a chance at the 1 seed they also MUST win this week. 7. Frankfort (10-9) - The Panthers picked up a big win on the road over Woodford County to finish 6-0 in the 41st District for the first time in over 10 years. Juanya Frank hit a last second 3 in overtime to ensure the victory for Frankfort. This weekend they battled tough against GRC on the road and came up a bit short but played well. Up next the Panthers head to Shelby County and Bryan Station before going to Franklin County to play Eastern out of Louisville on Saturday. 8. Henry Clay (11-9) - The Blue Devils finished last week 1-2 but jump up in the rankings the picked up a win over district foe Frederick Douglass but dropped games to Lafayette and Trinity both in close close games. I know Coach Brown isn't one for moral victories but the Blue Devils showed signs of playing at a high level. More tests this week as Henry Clay hosts Madison Central and then heads to Scott County. 9. Paul Laurence Dunbar (6-12) - The Bulldogs had quite an impressive week. They dropped a close one early in the week to Lafayette but bounced back with a win over a short handed Bryan Station and then went to South Laurel and won. The Bulldogs tough schedule is starting to pay off as they are turning a corner in the right direction. Up next Dunbar heads to Paris, hosts Tates Creek, and then heads to Franklin County to face off with Western Hills. 10. Frederick Douglass (9-11) - The young Broncos are still looking to find their identity. Last week they dropped 3 games to pretty good teams Knox Central, Henry Clay, and Scott County. The road gets no easier this week as Douglass plays 5 games in 6 days!!! They head to Bryan Station, Bourbon County, and Tates Creek before Knox Central visits for a rematch of last weeks double overtime thriller and then finally they finish at Sayre, a loaded week for Frederick Douglass. 11. Franklin County (10-12) - Franklin County picked up 3 wins out of 4 games last week including a big district win. Early in the week they fell at Danville but bounced back with wins over Shelby County, Western Hills, and Cordia. This week the Flyers hit the road to Marion County before returning home to face off with Bourbon County and PRP. 12. Woodford County (13-8) - At one point this season the Yellow Jackets were 12 - 3, since then they have lost 6 of the last 8. Last week they dropped games with Collins and Frankfort High. Two very winnable games this week as they host Western Hills before heading to Casey County. 13. Model (15-5) - The Patriots dropped two games this week to Garrard County and Paris. After starting the season impressively Model has taken a bit of a step back. This week Model heads on the road for 3 games with Western Hills, Rockcastle County, and Whitefield Academy. 14. Madison Southern (9-11) - The Eagles split games last week. They picked up a win over Southwestern before falling to West Jessamine. This week the Eagles head to Somerset, host East Jessamine and then finish the week at Clinton County. 15. Sayre (9-13) - The Spartans split this past week losing to Bryan Station but went on the road to Breathitt County and picked up a nice road win. An interesting matchup this week as Sayre hosts Tates Creek before Nicholas County comes to town. Sayre ends the week at home against Frederick Douglass. 16. Western Hills (6-12) - The Wolverines are another team that split this past week. They picked up a win over Shelby County before falling to Franklin County....again.....in a close matchup. This week Western Hills hosts Model before heading to Bullitt Central and Woodford County, then return back to the hometown to take on Paul Laurence Dunbar at Franklin County. 17. Tates Creek (4-16) - The Commodores losing streak has reached 7. This past week they fell hard to GRC and Lexington Catholic. A couple interesting games this week with a chance for TC to move up the rankings. TC heads to Sayre, hosts Frederick Douglass, goes to Dunbar, and then heads to Knox Central. 18. Berea (10-9) - Berea went 1-2 last week with losses to Nicholas County and Jackson County but did pick up a win over Middlesboro. This week Berea hosts Nicholas County and Frankfort Christian Academy before heading to June Buchanan to end the week. Games of the Week Tuesday Jan. 30th Bryan Station @ Scott County Lexington Catholic @ Lafayette Madison Central @ Henry Clay Friday Feb. 2nd Lafayette @ Lexington Christian Henry Clay @ Scott County Saturday Feb. 3rd Ballard @ Madison Central
  9. It's Prepspin, if it's not LCA it doesn't matter!! On a serious note though congrats to Coach Valentine and LCA on the win. Impressive all week.
  10. Best part of the day was the announcer working the prepspin coverage with a Gary Ball saying "Walton Verona is gonna have a tough time getting out of Covington Catholic's region." Well he is right to an extent I guess...
  11. GRC was whistled for a foul away from the ball. When the foul was committed the ball was already in mid air from a shot. Therefore when the basket went in it counted and the foul was called away from the play. Frankfort was in the bonus so the Frankfort player that was fouled was awarded the 1+1. The basket counts and they shoot the free throws. Frankfort was not given an extra basket. The officials came to both benchs and explained the call neither coach appealed or argued the call. No scoring error.
  12. Tweaked his ankle against Sayre. Station has 2 district games next week including one at Scott County. Just a precaution and rest. He's fine.
  13. Yea no Eric Boone. Dunbar isn't as bad as their record. But no Boone makes all the difference.
  14. I'm of the believe of retire the jersey not the number and I think it needs to be a significant accomplishment. Mr. Basketball, Schools all time leading scorer, not just he/she scored 1000 points. How did you impact the game outside of just your community. Just my opinion though.
  15. Another week of bad weather put a damper on some games this past week in the 11th Region. The end of the week and weekend did allow for some games to be played and gave teams a chance to get back out there after a long lay off. Also, FINALLY we are going to get our 1 vs. 2 matchup for the first time this week. Team Of The Week - Lexington Christian Academy The Lexington Christian Academy Eagles continued their good play of weeks past by finishing the week 3-0 and the champions of the 11th Region All A Classic. Carter Hendrickson, Kyle Rode, and Austin Hall continue to lead the Eagles. Good luck this week at EKU as LCA represents the 11th Region at the All A State Tournament, I think they have an excellent chance to win the tournament. Player of the Week - Cooper Robb Scott County guard and Charlotte commit, Cooper Robb, is this week's 11th Region Player of the Week. Cooper helped lead the Scott County Cardinals to the championship of the Toyota Classic this past week. Cooper continues to be the leader on and off the floor for the Cardinals. Congrats to Cooper on Player of the Week!! Team Rankings 1. Scott County (18-1) - The Cardinals continue to roll as they claimed the championship of the Toyota Classic this past week. They finished the week 3-0 with wins over Woodford County, Lafayette, and LaRue County. Up next the Cardinals travel to Bryan Station for the much anticipated matchup of the top 2 teams in the Region and two top 5 teams in the state, then finish the week hosting Frederick Douglass and traveling to Taylor County. 2. Bryan Station (16-1) - The Defenders also continue their winning ways. Weather took away a couple games but Bryan Station was able to get in a home game against Paris where they cruised to a 20 point win. This week the Defenders host Scott County in the game of the year so far in the 11th Region, then they host Sayre and travel to Paul Laurence Dunbar to end the week. 3. Lafayette (13-5) - Lafayette competed in the Toyota Classic this past week in Georgetown and finished 1-1 with a big win over 8th region favorite Oldham County and then played Scott County tough, just falling short towards the end of the game. The Generals look to be peaking at the right time and still hold that 1 seed in the 43rd District. This week, the Generals hit the road to face off with Paul Laurence Dunbar and Henry Clay. 4. Madison Central (14-5) -The weather got the best of the Indians last week as they were only able to get 1 game in. They picked up a 30 point win over Lincoln County at the end of the week. Isaiah Cozart and Dustin Geralds continue their stellar play. Up next, the Indians host Montgomery County, West Jessamine, and then welcome Trinity to Richmond this weekend. A great opportunity for the Indians to pick up a marquee win!! 5. Lexington Catholic (14-6) -The Knights picked up 2 wins this past week over Paul Laurence Dunbar and West Jessamine. The win over Dunbar proves important as it kept Lexington Catholic just 1 game behind Lafayette for the 1 seed in the 43rd District standings. This week the Knights host Tates Creek in their only contest on the schedule. 6. Lexington Christian Academy (13-6) -The Eagles are starting to be what most people thought they would be at the beginning of the season. They have now won 6 games in a row including 3 wins this past week to claim the 11th Region All A crown. The statewide All A tournament begins this week and LCA has a great first round matchup with University Heights. I do believe the winner of that game will be the ALL A State Champion. 7. Henry Clay (10-7) -The Blue Devils split a pair of games this week against some pretty good competition. Early in the week they dropped a close game to an always good Ballard team but bounced back nicely traveling to Floyd Central and coming away with a double digit victory. Up next the Blue Devils head to Trinity and then host Lafayette to end the week. Big week for Henry Clay. 8. Woodford County (13-6) -Woodford County traveled to Scott County this past week to play in the Toyota Classic where they met up with a couple of really good teams. They dropped games to Scott County and Oldham County but did pick up a win over Taylor County. Shout out to Coach Wilson for playing a really tough schedule this year. Up next for the Yellow Jackets they head to Collins and host Frankfort to end the week. 9. Frankfort (9-8) -The week started off really good for the Panthers as they handled Berea in the opening game of the 11th Region All A tournament but then they got handled pretty good by LCA in the championship. The Panthers schedule doesn't get any easier this week as they head to Woodford County and George Rogers Clark! 10. Paul Laurence Dunbar (4-11) - The Bulldogs only had one game on the schedule this past week and they dropped a home game to Lexington Catholic that was much closer then the final score indicated. The Bulldogs record doesn't reflect the level they've played at all year as they have played an impressive schedule and in my opinion have better wins then any of the teams ranked below them. Up next the Bulldogs host Lafayette before heading to Bryan Station and South Laurel to end the week. 11. Frederick Douglass (9-8) - The Broncos split a pair of games this past week picking up a win over Tates Creek and dropping a close one to a pretty good Pendelton County team. Up next the Broncos have two really tough road games with Knox Central and Scott County. 12. Model (15-3) - The Patriots dropped a game this past week for only the third time all season as LCA gave them a pretty good beat down in the opening round of the 11th Region All A tournament. They bounced back nicely with a win on the road over Jackson City. This week they host Garrard County before heading to Berea to play Paris in an interesting matchup in my eyes. 13. Madison Southern (9-10) - Madison Southern picked up 2 wins this past week over Sayre and Southwestern. Overall a pretty good week for the Eagles. Only one game on the schedule this week as Madison Southern hosts West Jessamine. 14. Franklin County (7-11) - The Flyers picked up a game at the Toyota Classic this week and dropped a close game to Wayne County. A big week for FC this week as they have 4 games on the schedule. They head to Danville before hosting Shelby County and Western Hills, then finish the weekend against Cordia at George Rogers Clark. 15. Sayre (8-12) - The Spartans finished the week at 1-2 with a loss to LCA and Madison Southern but ended the week with a win over Villa Madonna. This week the Spartans host Bryan Station before heading to Breathitt County to end the week. 16. Western Hills (5-11) - The Wolverines jump up a couple spots this week despite not playing any games. Tates Creek's loss to East Jessamine partnered with a win by Western Hills over East Jessamine gives a case for the Wolverines to be ahead of them. This week the Wolverines head to Shelby County and Franklin County. 17. Tates Creek (4-14) - The Commodores dropped two close games this week to Frederick Douglass and East Jessamine. The schedule gets no easier as they host George Rogers Clark and head to Lexington Catholic to end the week. 18. Berea (9-7) - After a promising start to the season the Pirates have dropped 4 straight and 6 of their last 8. This past week they fell to Frankfort and Oneida Baptist. Up next the Pirates host Jackson County, head to Middlesboro, then come home to face Nicholas County. Games of the Week Monday Jan. 22nd Scott County @ Bryan Station Tuesday Jan. 23rd Henry Clay @ Trinity Thursday Jan. 25th Lexington Christian Academy vs. University Heights @ EKU Friday Jan. 26th Lafayette @ Henry Clay Trinity @ Madison Central
  16. One of the most anticipated weeks in the 11th region was sadly cut short this past week due to weather!! Many of us in the area were looking forward to an impressive slate of games being played this past week but mother nature had other plans!! Some big time district matchups did take place and other good games around the region. So lets get to it!! Player of the Week - Eric Powell - Lafayette Eric Powell from Lafayette is our player of the week. This past week Eric helped lead the Generals to an impressive win over 43rd District opponent Lexington Catholic. He scored 21 points in the win over Lexington Catholic. Congrats to Eric on being named our player of the week!!! Team of the Week - Paul Laurence Dunbar The Bulldogs collected two wins this week over a pair of city opponents, Tates Creek and Henry Clay. While I wasn't too surprised PLD came away with a win over Tates Creek, the Henry Clay win is very impressive considering how the two teams have played to this point in the season. Congrats to Paul Laurence Dunbar on being the team of the week. Team Rankings 1. Scott County (15-1) -The much anticipated showdown between Scott County and Bryan Station was unfortunately cancelled due to snow. However, the Cardinals still had an impressive week picking up wins over a good Madison Central team and district opponent Sayre. Cooper Robb continues to have a great season pouring in 23 against Madison Central early in the week. Up next the Cardinals head to Grant County before opening up play in the Toyota Classic against Woodford County. 2. Bryan Station (15-1) - As mentioned above the showdown between Scott County and Bryan Station was postponed. The Defenders did however have quite the scare this week as they had to hold off Henry Clay down the stretch and pulled out a 1 point victory in a game they trailed most of the way. Up next the Defenders host a very good Paris team on Friday night. 3. Lafayette (12-4) - The Generals picked up arguably the biggest win of the past week when they went to Lexington Catholic and came away with a 74-58 victory. That win has put Lafayette in the drivers seat for the 1 seed in the always tough 43rd District. As mentioned, Eric Powell had a stellar performance for Lafayette in their only game of the week. Up next the Generals head to Georgetown to play in the Toyota Classic where they face off with Oldham County, the top team in the 8th region. 4. Madison Central (13-5) - The Indians dropped the only game they played last week, but it was on the road to our number 1 team, Scott County. From all accounts I read on the game the Indians were right in it most of the way but let the Cardinals get away from them during a short stretch in the 3rd quarter. Up next the Indians host West Jessamine before heading to Lincoln County to end the week. 5. Lexington Catholic (12-6) -Tough week for the Knights as they dropped an important 43rd District game to Lafayette and dropped to the 2 seed in the current District standings. They were able to bounce back impressively by throttling Tates Creek and holding them to only 18 points in the process. Up next for Lexington Catholic they hit the road to play East Jessamine, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and West Jessamine at a neutral site. 6. Lexington Christian (10-6) - The Eagles only played one game this past week but it was a blowout victory over a pretty good West Jessamine team. Seems like LCA is starting to find themselves and at the right time. This week starts the ALL A, where the Eagles are one of the favorites across the state to bring home the title. They begin regional play against Sayre. 7. Frankfort (8-7) - The Panthers had a HUGE week this past week picking up 2 district wins over Franklin County and Western Hills and in the process securing the 1 seed in the 41st District tournament for the first time in over 10 years!!! Congrats to the Panthers on that milestone. This week begins ALL A play for Frankfort as they start off with Berea in the regional tournament. Look for Frankfort to give LCA a run for the 11th Region ALL A crown. 8. Henry Clay (9-6) - The Blue Devils started off the week by almost pulling out a big road win at Bryan Station but fell short at the end falling by 1 point. Next, they dropped a game in a big way at Paul Laurence Dunbar to end the week 0-2. Up next the Blue Devils look to get back on track with a trip to Tates Creek before hosting Ballard then ending the week at Floyd Central. 9. Woodford County (12-4) - The Yellow Jackets started off the week by beating Sayre but ended the week losing to district rival Franklin County and in the process losing a shot at the 1 seed in the 41st District. This means Woodford and Franklin will face off in the always tough 2/3 game in February. This week the Yellow Jackets host Western Hills before they head to Georgetown to play in the Toyota Classic as they open with hosts Scott County. 10. Paul Laurence Dunbar (4-10) - The Bulldogs early season tough schedule is finally starting to pay off as they picked up 2 wins this week. First, they handled Tates Creek with ease before beating a good Henry Clay team to end the week. The win over Tates Creek gave PLD 2 wins in the district and has made them a contender to upset the pre destined top 3 this year in the 43rd. Another chance this week for them to help their own cause as they host Frederick Douglas before Lexington Catholic comes to Man O War for another interesting 43rd District matchup. 11. Frederick Douglass (8-7) - The Broncos didn't have any games this past week as all their scheduled games were cancelled due to snow. This week they head to Paul Laurence Dunbar, host Tates Creek, and play Pendleton County on a neutral site. 12. Model (14-2) - Last week I said the Patriots had a chance to move up the rankings if they were able to beat Madison Southern, well they did just that in their only game of the past week. Up next another big chance to make a statement as they play the winner of the LCA/Sayre matchup in the 11th Region ALL A. 13. Franklin County (7-10) - The Flyers started the week off rough losing a close game to rival Frankfort but bounced back nicely with a win over Woodford County. This week Franklin County hosts Shelby County in the only game they have for the week. 14. Madison Southern (7-10) - Rough week for the Eagles as they lost a close one to Model. This week they host Sayre in their only scheduled game of the week. 15. Sayre (7-10) - The Spartans dropped two games last week in a big way to Woodford County and Scott County. This week they open up play against LCA in the ALL A Regional tournament before heading to Madison Southern and Villa Madonna to end the week. 16. Tates Creek (4-12) - The Commodores had a chance to prove they deserved to be ranked ahead of some teams they hadn't been all year but didn't cease the opportunity. They fell hard to Dunbar to start the week then got beat down by Lexington Catholic in a game they only managed to score 18 total points. Up next Tates Creek hosts Henry Clay before heading to Frederick Douglass and East Jessamine to end the week. 17. Berea (9-5) - The Pirates only had one game last week and they dropped it to Owsley County. This week they face off with Frankfort in the first round of the ALL A regional tournament before hosting Burgin and heading to Robertson County to end the week. 18. Western Hills (5-11) - The Wolverines picked up a win over East Jessamine early in the week before they dropped a district game to Frankfort to ensure themselves the 4 seed in the 41st District tournament to end the week. Up next Western Hills heads to Woodford County in their only game this week. 17. Haha all love!! I just love my Hilltoppers and have always felt they get little respect.
  18. Where is the guy who told me no way WKU would have a better season they they did last year.....
  19. I don't mean your headline I mean the one the writer of the article in the Herald Leader used. I know you were just posting the article. A better headline could've been used by Josh Moore when he wrote the story, but like I said, click bait for him. Notorious with him.
