  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't ever remember Augusta or Deming (who used to be in this district) regularly scheduling to play Mason Co. I have also heard that this year Bracken Co. said they wouldn't play in the MCIT if they had to play Mason. So it sounds like the feeling is mutual.
  2. Life is not always fair. It's a lesson that everyone must learn sooner or later. Bigger schools have larger tax bases therefore more money. They also typically have greater attendance at their games thus equaling more money. I still say draw and give the small schools some hope. You'll notice by my name that it really doesn't matter to me. If you look at the 38th district this year who would you seed? Deming beats Harrison and Nicholas but loses to Pendleton whom Harrison killed? How would you rank this one?
  3. At this point, I have to say anyone BUT the royals. In my opinion, Mason County isn't playing like the #1 team in state right now with or without Keith Downing. They're playing inconsistant, taking BAD shots and not playing defense. It truly pains me to say this but sometimes the truth hurts.
  4. Draw. It's fun for the kids in a small school to get to the region PLUS the money usually means alot to these programs. Been in one of those small schools myself and we always knew who we DIDN'T want to draw. You can bet that come next week there will be many kids praying they don't draw certain teams. It's part of what makes KY basketball special.
  5. When is the district draw? I hope they draw anyone but Harrison Co. Reitz is as smart as they come and he has 2 players back now that he didn't have in the first game. Plus they have that all important home court advantage that everyone on this web site talks about.
  6. I don't know if he made his family proud or not but I sure used it as a learning experience for my son and his friends.
  7. Over the years I've many wild things and some inappropriate from student sections. But last night I saw something I'd never seen before so I thought I'd let everyone post their opinions. A Madison Central student came out in his underwear (not boxers) wearing a jock strap over the top of them. He was standing in the front making lude comments. The ref went over and made him put his clothes on. I have no idea where the teachers or administration of MCHS were and I hope that Alan Junior didn't see him and ignore it because I know his family has much more class than this. I thought that the Mason Co. kids were inappropriate with their jailbird outfits at the Scott Co. game but I believe this one takes the cake. What does everyone think?
  8. It could very easily be Augusta's year to draw the Royals. They've been to regional tournament for the past 2 years.
  9. Lex Cath will still have the fellow from Lafayette (sorry I can't remember his name). That kid can flat out play. You better not count them out unless he goes back.
  10. You must have had BoQueen and Hudson tonight. They're just about the crappiest refs around. We didn't see them tonight but ours weren't much better than these 2. I feel your pain. :thumb: I think refs need more training I will say that the 3 we saw in Rowan Co from the 16th region were much better (one was a woman). It's sad that you have to leave your home area to have a game called FAIRLY and FAIRLY and consistant is all anyone asks for.
  11. Should make for an interesting district. Is this district seeded?
  12. I agree with the boring game statement. With about 2-3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter Coach O'Hearn pulled all the starters out of the game and told them that if they didn't want to play ball, then he would find 5 more that did. In comes Pawsat, Treg Setty, Rice, Gilbert & Hamm to finish out the half. Classic!
  13. I would say that in the NBA all teams are supposed to be created equal since the player are paid! How can you compare that to high school teams that must play the kids that attend their school? That home court really helped the royals last year didn't it?
  14. Okay, everyone chill out. I know who Nanatoad is and he lives up North (not in KY) hence he listened to it on the internet. He could have very easily thought this was a final game. Don't get your feathers all ruffled up. There are still alot of games to be played this week and I'm quite sure that Jason Hinson will take nothing for granted.
  15. I agree with Stenzel being ranked higher. Just think if his uncle still coached at Deming then he could be playing with the King boys and Chris Owens could have very easily been playing for Mason County. Just a little something to think about. Would make for a couple of interesting teams, ya think?
  16. Is that why they scored 94 points in a game over the weekend? I thought something was a little off with Harrison this year in the games I've seen them play.
  17. Ciongratulations from one Royal to another. This sounds like another game that shouldn't have been played in the first round.
  18. Both teams played their hearts out tonight. As I said before, it's a shame these 2 teams had to meet up the first round. This would've made for an exciting final. With that said, so much for that home court advantage everyone on this board seems to want to talk about. In the end, the best team won. Anyone happen to know what happened to URIT?
  19. Was the ref's name either Bo Queen or Hudson? Sounds like something these bozos would do. Sorry, I just couldn't resist!
  20. I'm going. I hate to say it but I think the Senior lead St. Pat plus Coach Hinson will get this one as well. But I hope I'm wrong. I think it is a shame that perhaps the best 2 teams in it must play the first game. I agree with the seeding perhaps.
  21. I thought the tournament was all about great basketball and the great fans supporting their team at the 10th region tourney but now it seems to be about the money. I have an idea why dont they take the tickets and split them up between the four teams that are playing on Friday night and the two finalist on Sat. night and the schools that are playing will have the same # of fans with the ability to get into the gym without driving from northern Ky and then being turned away after the hour and a half drive. some people will have to work until 4 or 5 in the afternoon and wont be able to wait in line an hour or 2 or maybe longer. but I do think it's very sad that it's about the money and not about the KIDS. how would you like to be a kid playing in the regional finals and find out you're parents are'nt in the building to watch you play in possibly you're last high school game. that's very sad folks lets all grow up a like and quit acting like babies. it wont be good for the region when the news about the facilities are bigger than the games themselves.
  22. Are you serious? Miller get by with fouls I doubt. Hudson hates him. If he had tried to dominate the game earlier he would have sent him to the bench. That little #1 for Catholic got by with numerous reach in fouls and one of Samford's was given to another player. Hudson's call on Setty at the end of the game was purely a blament attempt to get the ball back to Catholic. No one is asking for all the calls, just that games are called CONSISTANTLY!!!! Trust me Mason Co knows that on most nights they are playing 5 against 6 or 7 and sometimes 8.
  23. I'm sure the Mason Co fans will support their team just as they always do. Rest assured, that is one thing that I do not doubt. As for Mr. Hester's comments, he just pointed out facts regarding the reports that he had in his possession. I see nothing wrong with that. The first article had their numbers incorrect. Maybe both newspaper articles should be taken and flushed down those fancy toilets Mr. Rison referred to in his comments. If you think his statements weren't on the rude side, you are mistaken. I have my doubts that he would be real receptive to any friendly advice from Fred Hester. Even though Mr. Hester complimented the administration from Montgomery Co. in his comments. Everyone should just agree to disagree. Montgomery and Clark Counties versus the rest of the region. Oh I guess I forgot about Paris. But since I believe this district is seeded, I have my doubts that we'll be seeing anyone from Paris in attendance. So much for the chance of the small school. Maybe this thread should be flushed along with the articles. I guess everyone will see what happens come March.
  24. I just want to know the answer to one simple question. Has the Montgomery Co. administration called, emailed or visited the administration from Mason Co. and asked for their expertise? If so who did they talk to and were they turned down? I'm sick of seeing that Mason Co will ruin this, or Mason Co. not offering to help. Unless you know for a fact that the above statement occured then stop the bashing. If this thing turns out to be a flop I can just see the excuse coming "they didn't come to me and beg to help me" are you expecting a flop and already building excuses?
