Have they asked and been turned down?

Have you ever been to a Mason Co away game? The crowd typically goes where the royals go. If you don't believe me then ask the crew from Lexington Catholic who brings the biggest crowds? Why do you think the game this Friday was moved to Memorial? This statement sounds a tad bit jealous to me.

I haven't seen the administration from Montgomery County visiting Mason County offering help in previous years. They usually come in, play or watch the games and then leave. Why should it be any different for Mason County this year? These comments are ridiculous. If they can't run it then don't go blaming Mason Co. for not going to Mt. Sterling and running it for them. Another thought. Last year I had the opportunity to visit the hospitality rooms at both schools. THERE WAS NO COMPARISON!!!! Those ladies in Maysville sure know how to put out a spread. That is one thing I will surely miss.

I've seen these teams play. 1. Scott. Co. 2. Bryan Station 3. Lex Catholic I can't wait to see the score from when 1 plays 2. Should be a great game!

Thanks for the info. Do refs have the opportunity to request a certain team? Can schools "black list" certain officals. We've seen these 3 so much lately, I swear if they're there tonight I'm gonna barf!

Okay I'd like to address a few things. 1. Mason Co. did not play well!!! Worst game I've seen all year! No excuses. 2. Scott Co. played well and they were well coached as I would expect them to be. 3. Barner didn't play for disciplinary reasons. He made a stupid mistake, is serving his punishment, will hopefully learn his lesson and rejoin his team. It's no one's business what he did. 4. Where is the real Darius Miller? I can't wait until he returns!!!! 5. This is January and most teams experience a January slump. I beleive it's part of the learning process. January games don't mean anything. It's the ones in March that count. 6. A few (not all) of mason's student section were out of line. I'm quite sure they will be dealth with come Monday morning. Scott Co.'s students did a few nasty things as well. It went both ways. I do have a question for anyone out there who knows. Why does the KHSAA send the same 3 officials to Mason County for every game. There are many quality officials in this state, not these 3, and we would like to experience a few more of them. Mr. Thornsbury from Bracken Co. is a quality official and I believe his son refs now as well. Let's give someone else a try.

I guess the answer to this depends on who you ask. I personally will not be affected by the loss of money but I'll be madder than an old wet hen if I don't get a seat.

I don't know much about Bellevue but I do know that the Devils are very capable of winning this game if they remember they are a team. Good Luck Black Devils I'll pick them by 10.

I've always admired Mike Reitz from Harrison County. However, I do know that he is having a down year this year.

Nathan Mitchell comes off the bench each game and draws the toughest person to defend and plays hard. He also lacks consistency in scoring but his defense lacks nothing. People seem to forget that games are won or lost on the defensive end. Nathan does play well. I believe I mentioned on another thread a while back that he should see more playing time as well. It seems as though there is so much attention focused on just a few players that some forget that it takes a TEAM to win games. That's a concept that makes Mason County so successful. They play together, unselfish like a team. I believe that Deming will improve greatly when this lesson is learned.

No biggie to me. If you read any of my earlier posts, I only recently became a royal fan. Check my join date. My team got beat very early last year and not by GRC. She was the one complaining about buses. I just pointed out the obvious!

They wouldn't have to do this at all if they played in the 15th region. They are within a short driving distance to Richmond or a short trip down the interstate from Frankfort. Big gyms with lots of seats as well as short drives. Best of both worlds. I'm sure there are other Northern Ky schools that wouldn't mind joining the 10th region and Fleming County could always return. Since the 10th region is now so spread out maybe this should be a discussion for KHSAA.

I love the statement that the businesses will make up the differences in the revenue. I would think that those same businesses could make those same donations to improve the education of the students in Montgomery County. I'm sure there are teachers that would love new computers in their classrooms or more classrooms supplies. I'm equally as sure that there are music programs in need of new instruments or co-curricular activites such as FFA or FCCLA that could use the extra funds as well. But by all means lets use the money to pay for a tournament that the vast majority of the region doesn't want to be there anyway! It makes perfect sense to me.:irked:

:thumb: Good quote! But it is about the selfishness of some, but not those at Mason County. They don't care about those who can't get in or the kids who must ride a school bus for 2 hours on school nights. I would be willing to bet that if all 10th region schools had a vote in this matter, changing the tournament location would not be an issue. Maybe KHSAA should change the rule about districts deciding and put it to a vote of the entire region.

Glad to see you agree that it is about the money and not about the kids. By the way, I don't live in Maysville and could care less about how many people eat in the restaurants. Other than the selfishness or jealously of 2 counties, there is NO other valid reason to move the tournament from where it has always been held. I truly feel sorry for the kids from Northern Ky who must ride buses for 2 hours after late ballgames arriving home at 12:30 or later and must get up and go to school the next day. Aren't these children students first or is that something else that is less important than money?

Can you really tell me who on the team is playing consistent on both ends of the floor???

I went to this game tonight and I have seen Deming play several times. I just don't understand why Rex Schalch does not start. This kid hustles on both defense and offense and there is not another player on Deming's team who plays as hard as he does. He can also run the point as well as anyone on the team. So can anyone out there please tell me why he doesn't play more? Keep hustling Rex and maybe you'll get the playing time you deserve. :thumb:

Great comment Mustang! I for one feel sorry for the kids from Northern Ky and their 2 hour bus ride. People seem to forget that these kids have to actually get up and go to school the next day! But by all means lets be fair. I would rather see the tournament be held at the Devil Dome in Mt. Olivet. At least you don't have to drag a small child out on the floor to get from one end of the gym to the other like I did last year at the girls finals. THERE IS NO ROOM behind the scorers table to walk!!!! Plus you couldn't ask for a more central location. Take a look at a map! The atmosphere of the 10th region has always been special. It looks like it won't be this year. Graduating from a small 10th region school, I have only recently become a royal fan. I have attended all 10th regional tournament games for the past 25 years but I will NOT attend all the games this year. I will also not spend one dime in Mt. Sterling. I will drive to Lexington or eat in Flemingsburg. Don't count on much money from the Mason fans who will swarm into Mt. Sterling and LEAVE!!

If memory serves me correctly, I believe the freshmen you are referring to turn 16 in April.

Just wanted to correct this. Mason only has 1 loss and it was to the current number 3 ranked team in the nation.l With that said. Has Novesel (or however you spell it) signed with a college yet? and if so who is it? One other thought, If Mason County isn't playing against 8 on the floor then they win. If not, then it might be a long night for the Royals. After Darius signed with UK someone on this board posted that he would be protected. If you've seen them play this year then you know that NOTHING could be further from the truth. If anything they allow this kid to get hammered. To all refs out there. Don't allow this kid to get hurt. If you've seen UK play this year, then you know they desparately need his healthy help!!:scared:

The Royals don't have anything to be ashamed of here. Darius struggled all night as did Setty. Middleton and King played very well! After talking with someone in attendance, it was a very physical game and the fans were upset with the officiating. Thank goodness tonight's game is at 8:30 instead of last night's all nighter! :sleep: That one was hard on us back home. Mason County has represented Kentucky very well. We're proud of you!!!
