jahearme Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 It is my understanding that they have made it official that the Boys 10th Region Tournament will be held at Montgomery Co. on March 5, 6, 8, and 9. Can anyone confirm?
Hamilton Joe Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 From a purely selfish standpoint I hope not. Mason Cty is just up the road from me and I prefer that the regional tournaments be played there.
DragonFire Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 From a fairness standpoint I think something like this has been a longtime coming. Mason County has enough advantages (just plain better most of the time) without being given homecourt every year as well.

FB15G8 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Yes, and I am excited about the move. Unless this is a financial disaster for the 10th region teams(I only say that because I don't know how the money is split, etc) this is way overdue. Congrats to Montgomery for the honor of hosting. If the finances are equal and everybody that wants a seat gets one.....then this is a great deal for all. I know parking is much better. Montgomery will workout concession stand issues and ticket sales as well (long lines).
el gato Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I can't say this is long overdue because until now, there wasn't another facility in the region capable of hosting the tournament. But now, with Montgomery's new facility, it certainly should be rotated, and I am glad to see that it is going to happen. :ylsuper:

bigblueinsanity Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 It's going to be a mess up there. Thats all I'm gonna say. If Mason Co just can get enough people in then theres no way Mont Co can hold all of those people. People aren't gonna be able to get into the Arena. IMO It's a great location for the girls 10th Region. Other than that it should be held at Mason Co every year.

As big as Mason Co is I was there when the doors opened for the finals last year on Sunday at 12:30...game didn't start till 3:00. Just wished I had picked us up a bucket of chicken...

IMO I just don't think it can hold the semi and final round crowds. With that said I say let Montgomery have a shot and see where the cards fall. I predict many will be turned away at the door and this will cause a major uproar among some of the fans. It will be interesting to see some of the threads come March.
el gato Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 It would have handled the crowd that was at the GRC/Mason final last year, as well as most of the finals crowds in recent years. It would not have handled the Pendleton/Montgomery crowd from a few years back, but then again, neither did the Fieldhouse.
