Covington Catholic 42 Campbell County 2
Wasn't at the game, and I agree its hard to be critical on a new staff this early in the season. However, if the team basically gave up like several said after getting down a couple scores, then that does not speak well for the staff?? Also sounds like they made no adjustments, and were lucky that CCH basically "ran out the clock" in the second half. A couple folks I talked to said Campbell's numbers seemed down, and that they looked small vs. CCH? That doesn't bode well for a school that big; where the opposite should be true? It just seems like they are constantly rebuilding--The kids and very loyal fans deserve better than a program in a constant state of flux!!

Highlands 35 Boyle County 14
Does an NKY team ever go "down-state" and win WITHOUT the "we was robbed" banner being hung out there?? Great job 'Birds!!

Wow--Impressive game for CCH, as it sounds like they could have named the score? Looks like a new sheriff in Campbell, but the same posse?? PS: I know its early, but is NKY 6-A really this weak, or the smaller classes that strong??

Congrats to the Breds on beating what was supposed to be a very good team and a reportedly special pitcher. Good luck the rest of the tourney!

Beechwood 2011/2012
It's actually size driven as I understand, but some schools petition to play up. Holmes has always played up, but now is moving back down to D-II where their current size dictates. Schools like Brossart & NCC moved up to D-II years ago to better the competition, and allow for more flexible scheduling. This year D-II consists of Holmes, Highlands, Holy Cross, NCC, St. Henry, Brossart, Newport and now Beechwood if I'm not forgetting anyone?

Beechwood 2011/2012
I was just curious, as they had to schedule a home & home with each D-III opponent I believe; and D-II only requires a single game vs. each other D-II school. Should allow them to add some more challenging games to their schedule.

Beechwood 2011/2012
Assuming they will schedule the all the other NKAC Division II schools this year if they are moving up?

Beechwood 2011/2012
Long overdue if they want to compete on the level at their football & baseball teams--Good for them. Best of luck to the Beechies this year.

Bishop Brossart 2011
No guesswork here--They stated their case based on current numbers for '10 & '11 (appx. 175 boys), not someone's speculations or guesswork?? The two year old numbers used to reclassify happened to hit a bit of a spike in BB's numbers, which have since resettled to the more usual 350-375 total enrollment numbers. Not sure where the Mel thing started, but I'm confident he wasn't lobbying the Beechies to move up???? KSHAA denied the petition, and off to D-2 for the Mustangs. Probably not the best development for a developing program such as Brossart's, especially given the presence of NCC in their district, and the fact they consistently vie for students with NCC at some of BB's main feeders. They'll survive and likely move back to D-1 where then belong in the next realignment, unless the KSHAA decides to move to 8 classes or the sort??

Bishop Brossart 2011
Despite what any posters on here say, trust me nobody in the Brossart locker room is underestimating anyone, especially Lloyd or Holy Cross; no clue where those ideas came from?? The Mustangs have the utmost respect for all their opponents, and know they are in for a serious challenge moving to 2-A; especially since they were starting to compete with their division 1-A rivals (the Beechies excluded). Also contrary to some of this info on here, Brossart's not whining or complaining about the move to 2-A; I'm certain they aren't excited, especially since they're a relatively new program and their current enrollment places them solidly in single A. They'll make the best of things and try and improve, as they've always done in sports. I also can't believe anyone from Brossart has suggested that Beechwood move up to allow them to stay in 1-A either--Pure fabrication IMO! Count me as another that can see little value on the surface to scrimmaging Boone, but that's the coach's business?? The Mustangs have always challenged themselves athletically (see basketball, soccer or baseball for example), and don't duck larger opponents & rather often seek them out. While this move was out of their hands, and probably ill timed in the development of their program; no one in green is thinking they'll just walk into their 2-A district and have the same success they'd had recently in 1-A (again minus Beechwood). They will however show up, try hard and let the chips fall where they may!!

9th Region in boys BB in 2011
Wow--All those worried about CovCath building a prep type school on Dixie Highway sound like they were right--Just a little too far north?? :D

Any news on a new Covington Catholic's head coach?
Having been around the NKY area for a while, there's much more movement throughout the public schools than at privates like Cov Cath??

Any news on a new Covington Catholic's head coach?
Definately not the easiest sell, but there's enough continuity at the middle school level at the primary feeders, and these coaches love to emulate their kid's prospective HS coaches. Many AAU teams are frequently run, if not coached but very competitive parents/boosters, who would love nothing better than to see their kids move on together to HS success. Putting on some coach's clinics and cooperating with coaches takes time and effort, but can have big payoffs in the end for those willing to make the effort. Regarding AAU coaches, I know of a couple that had asked for assistance in the recent past (visit practices, help install systems, etc.) from the previous group and not had much luck? CovCath is still a sleeping giant IMO, and this hire will be interesting to see play out!!

Any news on a new Covington Catholic's head coach?
A HC with the interest in promoting such a system could probably get it done? It would take working with the feeder school & AAU coaches to promote the school and system; and I don't think that's been the case for quite a while??

Any news on a new Covington Catholic's head coach?
While they do have a wealth of talent coming through the doors, I don't think they are particularly "schooled" in the CCH system (although the right coach could cure that), such as I've seen in other areas (Lex Cath comes to mind)? I'd argue your "con" of being in a tough district, as CovCath should be a "given" in the regionals most every year along with Holmes. No disrespect to Holy Cross, as they always give it all they've got & are well coached, but frankly it's most often not enough; and Beechwood seems content to dominate NKAC D-III, now that Silver Grove is out of Pelles for a while. As Clyde said it's a challenge to fill this job with the pay vs. the publics & Ohio, and the other intangibles, etc.? Opening the opportunity to a para-professional would certainly widen the field; but may not fit the hiring criteria. They'll be fine, but I'm not getting the feeling this job will go to an "established head coach"??

Curious if they are still stuck on a teacher/coach, or if a para-professional would be considered?

Correct, but they'd have been remiss to not inquire.
