They really should get more though. The problem is that the C-J doesn't devote enough manpower to adequately cover the teams in the area. So what happens is the schools with mst interest get all the press. Now comes in the chicken and the egg scenario, maybe if the C-J covered the other teams more thouroghly they would get more interest, but that is another story.

My playing days are long over, what bothers me is I'm tired of hearing how Manual is "overhyped" and "think they belong with the Big Three". I don't want anymore good press until we beat StX and Male and make a serious run at the championship.

For Manual I like the current format Central (Non district Local power) Christian Co (Non district state power) Ballard (Non district local power) Henderson Co (Non district state power) StX (District) Shelby Co (non district Semi local) PRP (District) Butler (District) Bullitt East (Non district semi local) Male (Non district historic local rival) We play in the toughest district, so good games are automatically factored in. The non district Louisville teams we face are Central, Ballard, and Male. Male we will always play, Ballard and Central haven't been on our schedule recently and it is good to see some of the local teams again, especially the better ones like these two programs. In the last five years or so Manual has gone out and played teams from out in the state. Teams like Danville, Warren Central, and Dunbar. I really think these games help the program. For one thing it helps get Manual out of the Big Three's shadow. When we go out and play these teams other areas get to see us, as well as we get to see other areas. IMO the game is played differently outside of Louisville and it's nice to get exposed to it. Manual looks west again this season with games vs Christian Co and Henderson Co. I'd like Manual to continue this practice and would love to see some match ups with the N.KY powers. The semi local non district games don't excite me a great deal. No disrespect to Bullitt East or Shelby Co, as they occasionally field strong teams, I just don't see the upside to these games as much as I do the others. Manual is probably the best team on both these schools schedule, which concerns me in regards to the "bulls eye" effect. But I think both these schools should enjoy the trip into Manual stadium this season. Changes I would make. Continue the Trinity series. Most of those games were GREAT. Get a team from Northern KY on the schedule, preferably Highlands or CCH Get a team from Lexington on the schedule Set up a series or Home and Homes with the Historic teams in the state like Ashland, Bowling Green, and others that have long histories like Manual.

Manual 59 Central Hardin 0 I didn't see it. I haven't talked to anyone who saw it. But this is the score posted on the team website. Hopefully someone who saw it can give us some details.

I don't know about that. Lex Cath is supossed to be #1 in thier class where as PRP is probably 3rd in thier district. A 37-6 score doesn't seem so unreasonable as the poster said it was 0-0 till the end of the half. PRP should be fine

There is VERY little significance to a home field advantage (from the fans) in high school football.

I started and stopped writing this thread about six times. I once told LSU that I always enjoyed his posts because they always gave me a reaction. He was one of those posters you always stopped to read. I feel for his friends and family, as little as I knew him I truly will miss him, I can't imagine the loss they must feel.

Yes and no. It will take outstanding leadership, results driven leadership, not just on the football level but throughout the school. I'm not making any judgements about the people who are currently in charge there, I don't know them one way or the other. But with as many positives Central has, they also have there fair share of negatives. I agree that Central could be built into the best program in the state, I don't think it is a job most people jump at. I think it is a job with a lot of potential, but far and away from an easy job. One of the knocks on Central has historically been thier tendancy to "quit" when things stop going thier way. Playing such a tough schedule will require them break that stereotype, as there are sure to be some bumps in the road. I congratulate them on taking on such a challenge. Personally I'm glad to see them back on Manual's schedule, we always had a tough time against them when I played. Also Central and Manual are very close in proximity, and many of the players had family or personal connections with Central so they tended to get up for the game.

When Austin Tiller was the QB a few years back he used to make a living off the roll out pass. In running the wishbone this type of passing was standered operating procedure.

I disagree. With the resources available to the respective programs, and the numbers that they currently have. I think that a consistant upgrade in competition, would result in stronger programs for both schools. Both St X and Trinity have room to grow, especially talent wise, I think the existance of more competition, would create the neccesity to close that gap.

Just because a team wins more games in a playoff system doesn't mean they are better than another team that wins fewer, it only means they went farther on the road that was laid before them. No two teams, in any playoff scenario, have the same difficulty ahead of them. To assume that judgement of a team's strength should be based only on playoff outcome, especially a playoff that is as that is as unbalanced as the one we are speaking of, is poor judgement. By your reasoning it would be the same to say that all 1A teams that go past the first round are better than all 6A teams that lose in the first round. Granted all those 1A teams accomplished more, it doesn't mean they are better football teams. I don't say that playoff performance is not an indicator of strength. But it is only one of many others that allow us to make judgements. Others being observation, relative scores, and measurable talents.

Sure. You were replaced with Henderson Co and Christian Co. Equal? No. But even if Manual did end the series, which I don't think I believe, it isn't to dodge competition. If you want to tell me that the Lexington schools are as competitive as Manual, I can live with that, on the basis that there isn't very much information to go on. However, the information that does exist, in comparing scores vs common opponets, points positivly in Manual's favor. What I think is rediculous, is the notion that if Trinity were to fall off the face of the earth, it would be open season for the Lexington schools. They are seriously underestimating Male and StX and the other Louisville schools.

Last season rebuilding Manual played Brentwood Acad out of Tennesse. It was Manual's worst beating in many years, but it also wasn't completely unforseen.

These might be really dumb questions, but I've never closely followed the politics of KHSAA. But, why was this new committee needed? It would seem to me that there have to be major issues going on that people want addressed, other wise why would it exist? What are these specific issues of the KHSAA that need to be auditied or investigated? Why is it so relevant that no Northern KY representation exist? What is the fear? Are you simply upset that you were excluded or is it that there is a specific issue that you feel is being pushed aside by this exclusion? Frankly from what little I know, I would think an auditor group would best come from outside the state all together.
