Here's my take.. Tradition ITSELF means nothing. Absolutely nothing at all. Only the team that takes the field on game night matters. However, tradition POINTS TO all of the things that make the team on the field a winner; things I said about Beechwood this year. Good coaching, good support (financial as well as non-monetary), and good training (weights, etc.).. talent is a factor, but isn't necessarily a correlation to tradition unless you consider lineage. So directly, past championships mean nothing at all, but presently the past has helped form the present Beechwood team into a team that is a clear favorite for this year's championship. So after all of that, here's hoping LCA can do what nobody else in the class has done and that is make it a game with Beechwood. Good luck, Eagles! And cannot forget: Congrats to LCA for making their first State Championship in so little time playing varsity. Congrats to Beechwood for playing so well and not resting on your laurels to make it where you belong.

Well, he has been the Track and Field, Class A, 400 meter state champion for two years running now.

I look for Beechwood to win. Their O-line is all over 6' tall and are very strong. I think the success they have is a result of: good coaching, good support, and a commitment to the weight room (a.k.a. a good program).

Those who said that "nobody in Class A can play with Beechwood" were right. Frankfort jumped out to a 10 - 0 lead and then the Mack truck started to get rolling. Frankfort played hard, but just couldn't stop the Beechwood offense from running over them. Congrats to the Frankfort players - you had a great season and should be very proud of what you've accomplished. :ylsuper: Congrats to Beechwood, and good luck in the Championship!

No surprise... staying at home for the Frankfort/Beechwood game to see if the Panthers can pull off a big win.

Sorry that I said I would sign off, but I just have to clarify. That wasn't me that you quoted. TheDeuce has my avatar, he actually posted that. I wouldn't say anything to rile up Beechwood. I know they're a good program AND a good team this year.

I think we are overreacting here. Simple words posted online often get emotion associated with them when none was meant to be attached. All of this on both sides is just everybody eagerly anticipating a good game Friday. During the week, the joy of advancing to the next round is overcome by nervousness about the next game. There's not much else useful or objective to be said here, hardly any of us have seen both teams play. I'll sign off until after Friday.

If you take away bonehead plays, look at the shoulda coulda wouldas, etc... the game could have turned out worse, or a lot closer. I'm sure Beechwood is good, and people aren't saying they're smart, big, and beefy for no reason. I think the game comes down to who plays mistake-free, focused football. We'll see Friday.

Wow, this thread is getting pretty heated without any actual hostilities. Hope it's an indication of the game Friday. Should be a good one.

I thought the offensive play calling was great. They did score 35 points.

I'm not even going to act like Frankfort isn't one dimensional as far as running vs. passing goes, but Frankfort did score on a passing play against Mayfield. Maybe with Frankfort's speed it's more of a forward handoff for a rushing touchdown. I'm going to go with Frankfort, because I believe those boys have the talent and the focus and the coaches can gameplan. Hooray for homefield advantage. A lot of people have been saying nobody in Class A can play with Beechwood. Haven't seen them play yet. Come Friday, I'll find out what all the talk is about. Ought to be a great game.

Good win for Frankfort. I think a team effort.. Coaches gameplanned/playcalled nicely and players used their talent and focus to execute. A lot of class shown by Mayfield supporters as well. Fan support at FHS football games has dissapointed all year in my opinion. Don't know what's up exactly. Seems like there is not near as many students at games as in years past. In reference to the facilities, it's obvious that it's not money falling from the tall trees around the Sower Field in Autumn.

It's funny. That's the same rumor that would go around every year about Coach Foley leaving Frankfort.

The field isn't in great condition (obviously this late in the season), but it's still better than some. I think it's been several years since the last time the bermuda was planted/placed or whatever is done to it. The visitor bleachers aren't the greatest. The stadium is nothing fancy, but it sits right off the river in a neighborhood with hundred year old trees looming overhead. Creates a nice atmosphere when loaded with fans... who will hopefully be pleasant to all visitors. Losses at home last five years (including playoffs)... 2003 - Newport 2004 - Danville, Christian Academy of Louisville 2005 - Franklin County 2006 - Danville 2007 - Franklin County, North Hardin

EJ didn't churn out the stats, but had a solid game. Didn't play much (at quarterback) in the fourth quarter. Seems like he's not completely back to normal health with his ankle yet. Nursing this injury for four or five weeks now hasn't really helped the Mr. Football cause, but continuing in the playoffs could help.

There's finally some justification for BGP putting Campbellsville in the pre-season top ten I guess - they made it to the final eight.

I look for FHS to win. I'd like to think they could increase the margin of victory from last time, but that really depends on how the game goes. Trimble looks to have improved as a team since losing Bird. FHS by 18.

Wait.. where's the deal? You get free Shasta and a win.. what do you do if you lose (I mean, don't win)?

I believe they can win without him, but all other factors NOT considered, Frankfort was only up 7 - 0 at the half the first time this game was played. I don't look for many focus or execution errors in this game for the Panthers though. Frankfort 44, Eminence 10

Not too many people interested in the game or expecting much of a game I guess (as to why there was no thread yet). Biggest question, will EJ Fields be at 100% for this game?
