I think this one will be close...Roenker is a monster, but after seeing him during the CovCath scrimmage, he doesn't like contact. I if Bellevue's LB's can wear him out by hitting him every play, then Bellevue will pull this one out.

From what I saw on the web, Bellevue scrimmages Carroll Co. at Ryle next friday @ 5 or 6. They play HC on week 0 so no 2nd scrimmage. I think Bellevue has definitely improved their schedule this year and from what I am hearing the team should be up to the challenges Besides Buckler and Lyvers (sp?), who are the other stand outs? Any good underclassmen?

Bellevue will be celebrating its 30th anniversary of the 1979 state championship team...It's hard to believe it was 30 years ago that I was one of many great guys to hoist that trophy in the air

Coming from a very good source, I have heard that Dayton has roughly 25-30 kids right now and many were told if they didn't come out before the dead period that Deaton was going to let them come out. Plus I also heard that they were running the I-formation with all three backs in 3-point stances (welcome back 1930's!!) I am not sure this is the best way to start off the season after coming off such a god awful season last year!

I know Drew Rice will definitely help the Panthers this year. Is Zach Stegemoeller (sp?) coming back this year?

Not to say that you are incorrect or wrong...but I also have good information (from a teaching friend on BC staff) that said Brian Simmons is the only candidate left for the job. Not sure if he has been hired, but they said the superintendent had made phone calls for references on Brian to previous schools were he coached. :confused:

I don't know much about Brian Simmons...but hasn't he bounced around the last couple of years from team to team...I know he was at Bellevue for a year then Walton for a year...just curious about him?

The problem with the program started with its inception. The administration at the time had no idea what they were doing and/or how to run a football program. They should have started building this thing from the ground up and with all details covered. Whoever was a part of that administration should really screwed the pooch on this whole program, thus the reason why they continue to keep struggling and probably always will! With all that said...I hope they find a quality coach, maybe a young guy that will really get out there and work hard, instill some pride in those kids, and do all the intangibles that should have started day1. It is true that Belleve has a weight lifting class, were they lift,run, etc. From what I have heard and seen the class is definitely paying off. The several kids I saw when I was in town last week, have gotten much bigger. Also, from what I have heard, the underclassmen lift three days a week.

Does anyone know how Bob Runyan did this year as an AD? My friends that live in Bellevue said he did a great job this year and that the previous AD had left him a mess to clean up.

I think that Nick Rice at Newport will do a good job this season building up the program and reestablishing some school spirit/pride into the program, that has seemed to be lacking as of late (at least from an outsider's point of view).

I would say that the reason that most Bellevue students probably "don't get asked" to play basketball is, from my time living in the city and from those that I still know living there, there have not been too many reports of any 6'6" PG's or 6'9"+ big men in the district. My previous comment was meant as, even if they don't get asked to play, it at least seems to outsiders that football players are encouraged to play since again most of the basketball roster was on the football roster.

:lol: it looks like most of the basketball roster was also on the football team, so I think #4 is wrong. As far as #6, didn't he resign?

I just checked the KDE website and there are 4 jobs posted for Bellevue's district

All I know is Nelson, Wilson, or Slater have not submitted any applications for the job. Apparently someone is going off terrible sources or just false/bad knowledge. Although I did hear from a buddy of mine in the community that the interviewing process is going to start soon, but he didn't know of any of the candidates. He just knows no one from Bellevue, other than the JV guy has applied

I am sure that there was a lot more to it than just a few parents, I don't know any specifics but that is crazy to think that a few complaints would get him fired. I just some people on here have a grudge or bad feelings toward Bellevue's administration and/or a specific person on the administration.

Not sure how he was as a coach, I do not get up to Nky very often as I live in the Louisville area. I did see him coach one game this year and he at least appeared to be very energetic and positive on the sidelines.

I am not sure what he teachings but the only opening that I saw on the website was for a Math position

Not to get off topic, but how was Wilson so poor at track coach (just curious). Plus if I am not mistaken every year he coached track his throwers were consistently in the top 3 at state with at least one or two winning the whole thing, you can check the standings. Sounds impressive! I do agree that they need to get the job filled by the end of the school year if not before that. I am sure that the administration knows that they really need to find a guy that can stay and build up the program, etc.

Where have you seen him in action? I also know the guy and he has never coached basketball:confused:

Minor/Listerman left on his own to a bigger program Wolfzorn was let go due to personnel issues (his teaching duties weren't fulfilled) Vories left to go to his alma mater Herald...this one I am unsure of But as you can see the administration isn't running them off. The previous coaches have left for other reasons. I hope this time the interview process is more detailed and thorough, which I am sure it will be.

Could you explain this? I was in attendance at every game but I am 100% certain he was the head coach for the whole season.:confused:

That's a great accomplishment for Walton-Verona...this kid will go down in Bearcat history! Maybe they should consider naming the field after him in a few years

Congratulations to Nick and his family! This was a great decision by Newport's administration. Nick was one hell of a competitor when I played against him in high school. He was one of the hardest hitters I had faced. If given some time I think Nick will do wonders for the Wildcat program! Best of luck to him and Newport

I do not have any further details, but I do know he is suspended for the remainderof the season. I do not think he will be suspended for any games next year as he is fulfilling his punishment for the remainder of this season. However, I do believe it was an uncalled for foul and that the situation was handled very well by the officials and the Bellevue coaches.
