6th Region Week 12 Review/Postseason Preview

1. Butler (20-7): The Bears leveled Southern and edged Jeffersontown in the final week of the regular-season. Butler went undefeated in the 22nd District during the regular-season. The Bears have already advanced to the 22nd District Boys' Basketball Tournament Semifinals. Maurice Tolley is averaging a team-best 14 points per game for the Bears.

 

2. Pleasure Ridge Park (21-8): The hottest team in the 6th Region, Pleasure Ridge Park is riding an 11-game winning streak into the postseason. During the final week of the regular-season, Pleasure Ridge Park notched wins over Brown, Beth Haven and Moore. Darius Osborne leads a balanced Pleasure Ridge Park offensive attack as the team's only double figures scorer. The Panthers are slated to meet Valley in the semifinals of the 21st District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

3. Bullitt Central (20-10): The Cougars compiled a 2-1 record in the final week of the regular-season, beating Beth Haven and Whitefield Academy before falling to Spencer County. As part of a balanced offensive attack, Aiden Terry, Jacob Mann, Chander Ocasio and Tyler Tatum are averaging double figures in scoring for the Chargers. Bullitt Central is already in the 23rd District Boys' Basketball Tournament Semifinals.

 

4. Jeffersontown (16-10): The Chargers went 1-1 in the final week of the regular-season, defeating Doss before falling to Butler. Blake Butler, Chris Trigg and Brandon Rayzer-Moore are averaging double figures in scoring for the Chargers. Jeffersontown will face Whitefield Academy in the semifinals of the 24th District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

5. DeSales (17-10): The Colts are on a three-game winning streak. DeSales notched back-to-back wins over Shelby County and North Oldham during the final week of the regular-season. Keegan Brewer and Matthew Ruckreigle are combining to average 41 points per game for the Colts. DeSales is set to face Doss in the 22nd District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

6. Fern Creek (14-11): The Tigers won back-to-back games in the final week of the regular-season, downing Western and Fairdale. Heading into the postseason, Fern Creek has won three of its last five games. Fern Creek is poised to battle Bullitt East in the 24th District Boys' Basketball Tournament at Jeffersontown High School.

 

7. Bullitt East (16-12): The Chargers exited the regular-season on a four-game winning streak. During the final week of the regular-season, Bullitt East knocked off Nelson County and Elizabethtown. Zak Perdew is leading Bullitt East with a 15.4 points per game scoring average.

 

8. Moore (15-12): The Mustangs dropped two of three games during the final week of the regular-season, defeating Fairdale in between losses to Taylor County and Pleasure Ridge Park. Only one point separated Moore and Pleasure Ridge Park in a regular-season finale. Moore managed to win 15 games during the regular-season. The Mustangs are slated to battle North Bullitt in the 23rd District Boys' Basketball Tournament

 

9. Southern (12-11): The Trojans split a pair of games during the final week of the regular-season, losing to Butler before beating Iroquois in a finale. Southern is set to face Evangel Christian in the opening round of the 23rd District Boys' Basketball Tournament at Bullitt Central High School.

 

10. Fairdale (12-17): The Bulldogs exited the regular-season on a four-game losing skid. In the final week of the regular-season, Fairdale dropped games to Moore and Fern Creek. Fairdale is already in the semifinals of the 21st District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

11. Valley (12-13): The Vikings fended off Iroquois prior to losing to Doss in a regular-season finale. Valley will have the chore of facing Pleasure Ridge Park in the 21st District Boys' Basketball Tournament but has the luxury of hosting the Panthers.

 

12. Doss (10-19): The Dragons knocked off Valley to notch their 10th win in the 2018-19 boys' high school basketball season. Doss, which worked its way into the win column following four straight losses, two of which came earlier in the regular-season's week, must face rival DeSales in the 22nd District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

13. Holy Cross (13-14): The Cougars lost to St. Xavier before rolling past Bethlehem in the final week of the regular season. Since its regular-season finale, Holy Cross has turned its attention to a postseason matchup versus Beth Haven in the 21st District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

14. Western (9-19): The Warriors split games during the final week of the regular-season, falling to Fern Creek prior to defeating Shawnee. Western will be looking to advance in the postseason with a win over Iroquois in the 22nd District Boys' Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals.

 

15. Evangel Christian (12-18): Evangel Christian had a busy final week of the regular-season, winning one of five games. The Eagles knocked off Heritage Academy but dropped games to Burgin, Brown, St. Francis and Portland Christian. Evangel Christian is the underdog going into a matchup against Southern in the 23rd District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

16. Whitefield Academy (10-18): The Wildcats won two of three games during the final week of the regular-season, falling to Bullitt Central in between victories over the Louisville Tigers (home school team) and Fort Knox. Whitefield Academy has the tough task ahead of facing Jeffersontown in the 24th District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

17. North Bullitt (9-21): Making a late-season push, North Bullitt complied back-to-back wins during the final week of the regular-season, beating Meade County and Brown. The Eagles have a tough challenge ahead in the form of a game versus Moore in the 23rd District Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

18. Iroquois (7-22): The Raiders suffered back-to-back losses during the final week of the regular-season, losing to Valley and Southern. Iroquois will face Western on its home floor in the opening round of the 22nd Boys' Basketball Tournament.

 

19. Beth Haven (6-22): The Bearcats compiled a 1-3 record in the final week of the regular-season, falling to Bullitt Central, Pleasure Ridge Park and Louisville Collegiate before defeating Fort Knox for their sixth in the 2018-19 season. Beth Haven will have the tough task of facing Holy Cross in the quarterfinals of the 21st District Boys' Basketball Tournament.
