mcpapa
The timeout occured with 8.3 seconds left, not 24. Brossart brought the ball up the floor, it appeared Code was kneeling, looking in the direction of the assistant coaches then jumped up attempting to call a timeout. He had to get in Official Eric Thornsberry's face for him to hear the timeout call, a few seconds passed from the moment Coach Code began signalling for the timeout before it was granted. Campbell County's staff and fans knew immediately that Brossart was out and began calling for the technical foul. Brossart led 37-30 and lost 46-40. Congrats to the Camels for finishing on a 16-3 run to close out the game. Every season a good team from the 37th gets bounced in the first round of the district; it's the nature of the beast. jahearme
Yep, and I think that is where I would say the majority of the questionable calls came from. I am just glad the outcome went in the favor of Campbell County. Another thing, the book keeper and the 4 or 5 assistant coaches should have known how many TOs were left and every one should have told Code how many were left. Totally agree with this. Two jobs of assistants coaches should be checking the book before the game to make sure its correct and keeping track of timeouts.

Lucky Charms
One team was clutch the other team wasn't clutch. End of story. While the focal point of the game seems to be on the TO called by Code, the likelihood of Campbell still winning this one was still high if the TO (#6) wasn't called. I'll put money on Coach Code and his staff "owning" the situation with the TO. It happens even on the grandest scale (ie. Chris Weber - even though he should have been called for a walk twice before he called for TO). Hopefully this will only help some of Brossart's youngsters work harder over the summer. Good luck to the Camels and Eagles the rest of the way!
HammerTime
I would think that as efficient as Brossart is at being disciplined, that Code and everyone else thought they had one left. I am beyond shocked that this happened. Wish it didn't have to end this way for the Mustangs. I am sure he and the assistants feel terrible about what happened. Slemac90
Congrats to Brossart and the coaching staff on a great season. Great job by the Camels in not giving up but continuing to play. Of note: 1) I would like to know the specific instances that contributed to the 'kudos to Jared White for his defense on Jennings'. I did see Griffin work his butt off in the lane defensively and made Jennings battle for position every possession that Griffin had the assignment. Griffin was the catalyst for this win with his defensive effort and mindset that he wasn't going to just let the big man do what he wanted. Defensive MVP of this game! 2) Long time Camel fan - but McGovney fouled Saunders twice on the play at the end of the game. First with the body and then the second with the block, but there were missed calls both ways the entire game. 3) Holbrook showed maturity and confidence last night. He didn't make ill-advised passes or take hurried shots. He played within himself and did his part to get this team to victory in the final couple minutes. 4) McGovney continues to show why he should be considered in the conversation for best in the region. Good luck Camels against Scott, I'm sure Coach Carr brings something special to the party on Friday night.
Topcat5
The atmosphere was electric at the game tonight! Campbell Co kept battling back and was finally able to get over the hump. I think on the last play (before the T) when Brossart had a shot outside the right block whomever took the shot was hammered and a foul should have been called. 2 free throws would have tied the game up. Have to say I would rather face Campbell Co/Scott in the region than I would Brossart. Tough loss for the Mustangs, but they had a fine season. Twenty two (22) fouls were whistled against Brossart while Campbell County only had eleven (11) whistled against them, an obvious disproprotion by the officials. With regards to Saunders getting hammer, how can spectators sitting on the other side of the court say it was a clean block. Fans sitting on the side where the foul occured will tell you that it was a fragant foul that should have been called Kudos to Justin Saunders for his offense and defense play and his refusal to loose attitude throughout the season. . Mustang
Pretty empty feeling this morning. I think we all felt good about this one and things appeared to be going our way. Kind of like having the rug pulled out from under you. Lucky Charms said it best, we simply failed to finish, which has been a problem this season for us. Regardless of fouls called or not called, or too many time outs taken, the bottom line is that we only scored 16 points in the half and 6 in the final period, and that doesn't win prizes in any livestock show. Campbell County is tenacious and kept battling, driving, attcking, never gave up and got the job done. While we didn't have a sterling shooting night, it was better than back at the Crosstown. I have no excuses to offer. Our success with the Camels seems to be cyclical. They now own four in a row over us which should make us hungrier as the series continues into 2013. It will always be a war when we meet and I expect future encounters to be no exception. McGovney has a knack for hitting big shots when the Camels need them, and Holbrook is a very nice player as well. We finish with a 20-8 mark, but never seemed to get back in synch after the Lloyd Tournament. Losses to Louisville Collegiate, NCC, and Campbell County will probably be remembered moreso than the 20 wins. The 37th District is a bear of a district and to be the best you have to beat the best. Campbell County is a deserving victor.

How do you know where the people making comments about the Block/Foul where seated. I was right next the the Mustangs cheerleaders and saw the block. The block was clean, maybe some body contact but flagrant? C'mon. This talk about the foul/block is just out of hand. Campbell County has been on the short end of the stick on fouls all season long, so one game they have the foul advantage and it is the reason Brossart lost the game? Playing Deming, Augusta, Bracken and Beechwood is not going to work. I wasn't impressed when I took a peek at the schedule this year. This needs to be addressed. Nothing against Deming, Augusta, Bracken or Beechwood - its just that Brossart always has scheduled the bigger schools and it used to be anyone, anywhere at anytime. I just don't want to see them get away from that.
bigblueinsanity
Watching McGovney last night I think he is a good player, but at times didn't get back and D and just standed around for a lot of the game. I would put Black, Stenzel, Fatkin, Monroe, Prewitt all above him.

Good luck Camels against Scott, I'm sure Coach Carr brings something special to the party on Friday night. Great recap of the game. 1) Not White's best game of the season, he helped Brossart gain the lead by taking many forced shots in the first half, Griffin was a stud shutting down Jennings to no points after he had his way in the first game with 20 points. 2). Couldn't tell if that call was a foul or not, but thought the blocking call on Fardo earlier should have been a charge. Thought the refs did an OK job, but didn't realize the foul count for each team. 3). Holbrook played a heck of a game. His drives to the bucket were strong and his decision making was outstanding. 4). Great player, clutch! Good luck to the Camels Friday. Hope they are well rested as they are not deep. Still wondering why kids like Wright and Dullahan don't play more when #34 gets as many minutes as he does.

Unless you know Coach Russell's offensive plays or scheme then I don't think you can say that he just stands around. He is by far the most "clutch" player on that list. I don't think scheduling is an issue, they beat Holmes, beat Highlands, beat NCC once and lost once, lost by 2 to Bowling Green, lost by 5 to Clay County, Lost to Campbell twice, beat Pendleton, beat Harrison, beat Scott, Lost to Mason and they do scrimmage Boone in pre season.
