memyselfandi
The atmosphere was electric at the game tonight! Campbell Co kept battling back and was finally able to get over the hump. I think on the last play (before the T) when Brossart had a shot outside the right block whomever took the shot was hammered and a foul should have been called. 2 free throws would have tied the game up. Have to say I would rather face Campbell Co/Scott in the region than I would Brossart. Tough loss for the Mustangs, but they had a fine season. I have to agree with you, however, there were some questionable calls called against Campbell as well.

I really dont know how they did not call a foul on that play. Someone on coach Code's staff had to tell him he had a time out left or he would not have called it. bigblueinsanity
I have to agree with you, however, there were some questionable calls called against Campbell as well. I agree with that. I think on the inside tonight you had to play tough, they let them play down low!
memyselfandi
I agree with that. I think on the inside tonight you had to play tough, they let them play down low! Yep, and I think that is where I would say the majority of the questionable calls came from. I am just glad the outcome went in the favor of Campbell County. Another thing, the book keeper and the 4 or 5 assistant coaches should have known how many TOs were left and every one should have told Code how many were left. Xs and Os
Wow, I hope he apologizes to his team. Absolutely no excuse for such a boneheaded decision. Players know better than that in 4th or 5th grade, nevermind coaches. I would have to agree, what were the assistant coaches doing letting him call a Time Out. I would think that is part of assistant coach 101. I wonder which one will get the blame for that bone head move. Congrats to Camels!!

Plato
Code is one of the best, most well respected coaches around. Even the best make mistakes. Congrats to the Camels. This district always has the best games. I'm sure the championship will not disappoint.

Mustang
Code is one of the best, most well respected coaches around. Even the best make mistakes. Congrats to the Camels. This district always has the best games. I'm sure the championship will not disappoint. Tough, tough loss for the Mustangs tonight. While the 6th timeout will be the focus of conversation, the game might well have been lost at that point. To set the record straight Campbell County took a two point lead with 24.4 seconds to play in the game on a second free-throw by Corey Holbrook. The Mustangs came down on their final possession and were misaligned for whatever it was that we were trying to do. Coach Code called the time-out to try to set up a play that would win or tie the game with 8.3 seconds to go. It's too bad we will never know how that would have played out but the T eliminated that possibility. Coach Code has come out and said that he assumes responsibility for the miscue. Normally, when a team is out of time-outs an official as a courtesy will walk over to the huddle during the final time out and inform the group that they are out of TOs - that obviously didn't happen. With that being said, we have four assistants on the bench, one of which should have informed Mike that we were out. They are in agreement. On the broadcast we commented that it seemed strange that we called our final TO with 24.4 seconds to go to ice a shooter. The bottom line is that Brossart led 22-10 late in the first half, but allowed the Camels to cut the lead to 24-18 at intermission. We also led 34-29 after three periods, but then proceeded to score only 6 points in the fourth quarter (16 for the half). Meanwhile, Campbell County kept driving and drawing fouls, of which they hit 10 of 15free-throws in the fourth quarter. The only other Camel scoring done was a huge 3 by McGovney and one by Corey Holbrook. The Mustangs did not score a point in the final 2:56 of the game. Camel took their first lead since 6-4 at the :58.6 mark of the game. We pure and simply failed to finish it. For the second time this year, and the fourth time in the past two years, the Camels find a way to win, and the Mustangs fail to finish. While we feel a bit snake-bit with them right now, you have to make your own breaks. Congrats to the Camels and best of luck vs Scott on Friday night and next week in the Regionals. I gotta go to work
The timeout occured with 8.3 seconds left, not 24. Brossart brought the ball up the floor, it appeared Code was kneeling, looking in the direction of the assistant coaches then jumped up attempting to call a timeout. He had to get in Official Eric Thornsberry's face for him to hear the timeout call, a few seconds passed from the moment Coach Code began signalling for the timeout before it was granted. Campbell County's staff and fans knew immediately that Brossart was out and began calling for the technical foul. Brossart led 37-30 and lost 46-40.
