As for the 2013 alignment, one thing to remember with trading is that if the Sweet 16 draw matches a referee's home region with one whose region those home officials will be calling, then there is a potential conflict of interest and those referees may have to switch with a different region, which can lead to 2 (or possibly more) crews being given different assignments.

State tournament games are assigned the night before each day of play. For example, Thursday's games are assigned Wednesday night after play is complete. Same thing for Friday. Most officials are guaranteed 2 games if they make it to Rupp/Diddle.

I was meaning regional tournament games. It could create a conflict of interest when one region's referees are calling a game where the winner goes on to play their respective region in Rupp.

Interesting....8th region officials are officiating the 6th region this year.....Bullitt East used to be part of the 8th Region up until about 3 or 4 years ago....

"Big City Refs"?? Mt Olivet, Augusta, Falmouth, Winchester, Claryville, Alexandria, Paris, Brooksville, Taylor Mill, Silver Grove, Carlisle, Cynthiana, Flemingsburg, Mount Sterling, and Maysville--Some real metropolis's here?????

The BBA refs are called "the Lexington refs" to most in the state. BTW Flemingsburg is in Fleming County which plays in the 16th region the last I checked. As for Kentucky cities and towns, I would not consider Maysville, Mount Sterling, and Winchester too small.

I suspect he was referring to Lexington, Richmond, Frankfort. The BBA covers the 10th and 11th Region....

I feel sorry for whoever gets the 6th/7th region officials! They will let you bang!! If you are a small team you will have no chance to beat a bigger school because they will physically beat you up and the refs won't call fouls.

 

This is true. They beat and bang on each other here in the Ville. Saw Ballard last week and they push and shove (don't get me wrong I like that style) and reach and grab and use their athleticism to a huge advantage. Knew one of the refs and he was joking after the game that "if we called everything we'd be here all night." Very physical here in town, so the 8th and 12th better get ready to be physical. And tuck our shirts in. It's amazing how many times I have seen a ref in Louisville stop a game and tell a kid to get out because he didn't have his short tucked in. Don't see that other places I watch games...

Yes he did, and his reaction time is terrible.

That should help the northern part of the 8th region, since they are closer to the 9th.
