Sounds like Hall and Sublett. Sublett also T'd up Devon Turner in the District final Fairview vs Ashland for taunting. And T'd up Blevins for Boyd vs. Fairview in the first round for the same thing.

Officials going to different regions makes no sense to me. I've coached in both situations and having the officials stay in the original region is best for the players. Of course, all that the KHSAA does isn't always what's best for the student/athletes. The players are used to how the officials in their region call and therefore have little surprises in the region. Games are not always officiated the same from region to region and a lot of times it takes the players some time to adjust. This can have an adverse effect on the game and most definitely the outcome.

 

Guessing what might have been always seems to put an unfavorable light on the guesser. None the less, after the travesty 10th region officials visited upon the Tomcats (16th region) during the last play of their regioinal finals matchup with Rowan Co., I must say your post seems well taken to me. Like the 7 pound small mouth that got away once down at Dale Hollow, that scene will haunt my thoughts for some time. Ashland was denied a chance to tie at the end of regulation when obvious fouls were not called as the shooter got hammered before and during his shot attempt. See Rowan 59 Ashland 56 thread.

Also the Coach from Aususta was T' ed up by Bobby. He looked like he was going to get another, as you could tell, that Bobby was ready to signal the T. Finally the coach backed away and sat down. So I know that 4 T's called in the 10th during the tourney that I know of.

Mason/Montgomery - Henry, Harris, and Black (Mason)

All were "earned" in my opinion.

Bobby Hall usually has very thick skin, I imagine if he rung someone up, they were well overboard.

One of the 10th region guys dinged Pete Fraley from Boyd in the championship game. And they should have, he crossed the line. Ironically enough, fouled 3pt shooter 2 trips in a row, no call.

1. Will they even look at this sheet?

2. How does this compare to the other regional tournaments? (I can't believe the others had 4 player technicals.)

3. Will they investigate to determine the reason for the technicals?

4. Will they mention this to the different referee groups to try to bring more consistency across the state?

I posted a thread about this during district time wondering about the increase in the number of Ts I saw during that time. That number continued on during regions, which leads me to believe the stripes were instructed to be less forgiving than normal about T-type behavior, especially on the part of players.

I think they should let the kids call their own. You would get a much better game. The officials calling most of these games are horrible. In the last 20 years the quality of officiating has gone from pretty good to horrible.I remember when Rex Chapman played Henry Clay at Memorial. Kent Wade was one of the officials. I watched that game on tape a few times and I remember saying to a guy with me there wasnt a call missed. The game was called perfect. In the games now the officials dont get 25% of the calls correct and there is no consistency, the majority of these guys have never been on a court and I assume just trying to get a little extra money I guess (maybe a ego boost from being in charge). The games are not even worth watching because the officials ruin it. If I didnt know better I would think they were betting on them. I could even take that over just being horrible.

You can join the officials association in your region and see what it is like....I'm sure after that experience you will not make negative comments anymore....let your whistle do some talking!!!

There were some interesting inconsistencies between the associations.

 

The 16th calling taunting closer that resulted in the T's on players were one. Btw, would love to see that called more.

 

The 10th/11th do not allow assistants to stand and do much let alone yell at the officials. The 16th allowed assistant coaches to stand throughout the game. That is a big NO NO during the season from 10th/11th officials. Would have been more technnicala on assistants if they tried on BBA officials what they got by with on 16th officials.
