Anderson will win the 8th region. They are one of the most balanced teams I watched this season, good pitching, speed, power and sound defense. I think they were the favorite before the season started.

In fairness to the coaches Bailey didn't have her best games during the season against several 8th region teams. Carroll, Owen, Gallatin, North Oldham, didn't play Simon Kenton, Walton Verona. We are so glad Lauren Shepherd was picked,she had a great senior season.

Big picture… Success or lack of success in sports by your kids does not indicate what kind of parent you are… But having an athlete that is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient and who tries their best is a direct reflection of your parenting.

Gallatin County deserved the win, they made the plays needed to get the W, the pitcher did a nice job keeping Collins from stringing multiple hits together. Bailey Rankin was on deck when they got the final out, wish she would have had a chance to bat, she was hitting .591 with runners on base. Good Luck to Gallatin County in the next round, look for them to be in the final. I believe Oldham County will return to the state Tournament for the 2nd straight year.

Gallatin is a good team they have played the schedule that was presented to them. I know they have some very competitive players that will not back down from anyone. Collins will have to play their best to beat them, since Gallatin is the favorite.

Anderson County 8 Collins 6. Good game both teams played tough, Anderson just played a little better to get the win, a couple of close calls could have changed momentum in the game. Hope for another chance in the regional.
