Pet peeve: His name is Mat Latos, not Matt Latos.

Also a nice perk to this deal that most are overlooking....With Mat comes his wife, Dallas Latos. :D

That's strange that you just posted that. I literally just goolged and oogled her.

And he is better than Kris Benson.:D

Didnt say that, To give up one First round position player for a quality starter sure, but to give up 3 first round draft picks is alot.

Dang, why didn't the Reds think of that. I heard that the Padres just wanted Grandal and the Reds demanded they take Boxberger and Alonzo.

Again, potential means nothing when you can get a proven 1 or 2.

SD must think pretty highly of Alonso to send Rizzo to the Cubs

Alonso and Volquez are putting up solid numbers so far...Alonso has been very hot lately...Volquez needed a change of scenery and Alonso they felt could never play LF...Mesoraco was felt to be better than Grandal, so nothing is lost...I just like to revisit trades from time to time, the only one I wanted to keep was Grandal...

Too early to tell how well EV is pitching. It appears he's taking advantage of a pitcher's park. His road numbers albeit limited are not good. 4.09 ERA and batters are hitting .279 off of him.

He did just out duel Halladay I think at PHI, However I agree with you completely...His fly balls aren't HR's in Petco and his stay was expired in Cincy anyways...

Here is another link on the trade that just happened to come out today...

Looking back at the Yonder Alonso, Edinson Volquez and Mat Latos trade | Fantasy Headquarters

Wasn't as bad as giving up Hamilton but Reds still gave up a player too much. Latos isn't in the Petco desert anymore. He will probably turn out to be alright but hated giving up so much for him.

If I were the Reds I would still make the exact same deal today.

Agree

I would do it without hesitation....Latos has been pretty solid his last two outings (once the calendar turned to May). I look for that to continue as the year goes on, and the first month to become the exception, rather than the rule.

I had no problem with the trade except for the Grandal piece. Good switch hitting catchers don't come along every day and I would have liked to see them keep him until Meso proves he belongs at this level.
