One concern I have with Latos is that he faced for the most part, weak hitting teams in pitcher friendly parks in the NL West.

Now he's going to be pitching in a weak NL Central.

 

Count me in as really liking Juan Pierre. Solid vet who can hit leadoff and play solid defense.

Pierre is the last guy the Reds need. He's barely above Willy Taveras at this point.

If he doesn't have arm trouble, he will be a dominating All Star pitcher. This guy is really, really good. Think Matt Cain and Adam Wainwright.

Granted. However, we traded our 10cent head(that was with dreadlocks) for a 10dollar head.

I spoke to a Reds scout back in the summer who said that there is no position that Alonzo can play. He is a DH and nothing more. Given that and the fact that Mesarosco is the future catcher this trade is a good one.

Didnt say that, To give up one First round position player for a quality starter sure, but to give up 3 first round draft picks is alot.

^You'd never get a single deal done with that stance as a GM. Quality starting pitching is at a premium. In order to get any worth a darn you have to give up multiple highly regarded prospects. It makes it an even better deal when 2 of them have no place to play within the organization.
