Surprise players in 06?

Featured Replies

Bobby Petrino will only be a sophmore next year and should do well on the JV level. Not sure if to many T players would be considered "Surprise players" for next year. Several have proven themselves on the JV level and will be ready to complete for a varsity position. GO ROCKS....

They are sophmores. Both ran track and did pretty well. I believe they wear numbers 2 and 13. One was hurt towards the end of the season, the other filled in for Kircher when his ankle flared up. They both made some pretty nice catch-n-runs as freshmen and JVs. They will be very good in Trinity's system as they can catch, avoid a tackle, and both have the speed to finish. Not sure about their size, but they are plenty fast.

Another kid that I think will have an impact is Bobby Petrino in the secondary. He can cover and he will hit the opponent with everything he has.

Thanks for the info LSU. I appreciate it. I'll look up their stats in a 2005 program.

Is he still on the team? I heard that he was no longer on the team.

What on earth are you talking about? Where did you hear that Bobby Petrino was no longer on the team?

He could be thinking of Nick.

My personal favorite would be #20 from JCHS. Shawn Grim...he has almost as much speed as Blume, but he's a little stronger. He doesn't mind running through a defender or two to get his yards.

Thats a bold predicition, are you kidding? No one from EKY will get that kind of attention unless your names Tim Couch.

My bad, it was Nick I was thinking of.

Sorry but Nick will be the starting QB (barring injury) for the Rocks in 06' as they defend their 16th state title.

OK, I heard otherwise. Shows you can't always believe what you hear, especially if it's from 150 miles away.

No need for "sorry". We have no problem playing against him.

Good athlete. Hope he can keep on the path so he can be there for you

next fall.

I look for Blake Johnson to turn some heads in terms of college scouts. Has good size and good speed and really likes to bring it from his LB position. I as well expect Grimm and Welch to be a big suprise to the opponents in our district and region.

Johnson was the JC player who impressed me the most in the Ashland game. I was real glad JC was accustomed to big scoring plays and didnt just settle in by running that big boy over & over. This year should be fun watching him vs. Fields Davis as Ashlands FB (offensively & defensively).

Your big freshman (DE?) is also going to be a handfull.:creepy:

The individual performances of Ashland's players may be determined by what position they end up in. Their "numbers" may suffer in deference to whats best for the team we'll have to see:thumb:

Cheers, Woody Jr

Boone County - QB - Shawn Bogle could have a breakout year. Shawn moved to QB about midway through his sophomore year and Farris moved to full time RB. Shawn is very athletic and has a very strong arm. He plans to attend at least one QB camp and will be working hard during spring football. If Shawn focuses and works hard during the spring and summer, the sky is the limit. This young man has a lot of potential and could be one of the best if he works to achieve his full potential.

Ashland is definelty the favorite in the district for 06. I would say Lawrence is second, then JCHS is a distant 3rd.

How can JCHS be 3rd with all that talent. Ashland and Lawrence must be pretty good next year.

I agree, Ashland lost a lot of great talent to be tabbed as the favorite. I look of JC to be the frontrunner.

South Laurel could see a junior-to-be step up bigtime in 2006 with Cody Quinn (RB/DB). Has good speed and quickness like Corey Brown had but is more of a north/south runner like Jake Karr. As with most backs, I wish he were bigger, but if you can combine most of the best attributes of both of these former Cardinal backs, you are gonna have a good one. He can really take some heat off of QB Ricky Bowling by giving SL a solid RB yet again.
