:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I'll agree with that ! Also Joseph Castaneda could on O !!! :thumb:

While CovCath lost a lot, they have a lot returning. Castanada and Brown have to make CovCath's d backfield one of the best in 06. Flynn, Sutton and Geisen also all return as lbers, which will make that a very good unit also. Their center returns to start his third year. The cupboard is certainly not empty at CovCath. While Highlands probably will be the favorite next year when they match up, the favorite in this series, as we were reminded this year, does not always win the game. If the Birds rest on their laurels and pay too much attention to all the talk about how good they'll be next year, CovCath will get them.

No stigma whatsoever. If anything, its generally considered one of the most critical places on the o line. The only downside if you will as pointed out by FT is that historically Dale has not permitted the center or the qb to play any defense at all. Dale has also generally put one of his bigger linemen at center, but it has to be someone with decent quickness. When I said "if Dale can't find someone to play center" I meant someone good enough to play the spot to Dale's satisfaction. I am sure there will be several kids trying out for the position and I agree with you about it being the one open spot and the non starting returning players should/will be going for it. I don't know if Abell is getting any looks.

I heard at the St. X game that Notre Dame was interested (no [kidding]!) Mr. Abell is academically really sharp apparently. My source was his uncle!

I have heard that there are several Big guys planning to play ball at Highlands that did not play last season for one reason or another.(no, they are not transfers!) Matt Rogers 6' 1, 250, Zack Rawlings 6'2, 250+, and two others whose names escape me but I know them to be big boys that may be able to fill holes or block effectively if called upon. If these guys do come out and work hard, there will be no doubts left about the O or D lines for the Birds next season. Both Rogers and Rawlings are very strong and could contribute immediately. Lots of athletic talent, reasonably quick feet for their size etc...

The boys are truly good sized...but you just don't walk in to the program and start. Unless you are a true "phenom", there are dues to pay.

CCH will have a great defense. But i dont believe you will be seeing a Sutton on that side of the ball. Look for him to have a huge season. He has probably put on like 30 pounds since last season if he keeps his speed he has the hands and the jumping ability to go D1 as a WR or maybe even a TE. Also on Offensive how could you leave out 3 year starter and one the top WR in NKY Kurt Bovard. He had i believe 50 + receptions 700+ yards and 9 TDs....hes a stud.. and with a pocket passer there this year in Josh Bleser those numbers could even be higher... look for these 3 to have great seasons...if the get to solid athletic T's that is

Lucas is a great pick for this ! If he puts in the work in the off-season , he very well could have a break-out year !!! :thumb: The key will be in the OFF-SEASON WORK ! Tyler Day also could be another one if he works on his techniques and the playbook ! He has all the tools in place ,at 6-2 , 200+ lbs and great speed . If he has a good off-season and gets in to some camps to develop his football skills . Tyler could also be one . TEAM FIRST ! DIXIE PRIDE !!!

It's funny you mention Day, I was thinking about him when I wrote that for Jared and planned to do a follow up. Tyler has everything he needs physically to be an impact player. He is a very good athlete, nice size and strength. If we continue to play people one way he could legitimately find a spot on either side of the ball. I would like to see two things out of him next season as well. 1.) he needs to get faster, speed speed speed... 2.) He needs to get meaner and more confident in his abilities. Both are fairly easily attainable if he applies himself this off season which I know he will. Mentally he has to realize that he belongs and that he is so big that if he puts his heart into it he will punish people for being in his way. The kid is built like a tank but is way too nice. Get nasty Tyler! :thumb:

ty sparks a soph. running back from tates creek high school in lex., had over 1000 yards rushing this year is a player to watch in lexington.

Agreed, they should be even better now that they're more used to the defense, it's designed for them to make plays

If Kurt wasn't the best WR in NKY, he was top 2 or 3, but I think he was the best

Kasey Clark from Russell will be a great candidate for 2006. He should be around 6'2" and 220-230. Strong running back and great on defense.

kenny hughes - somerset at FB or RB

I wouldn't necessarily call this kid a surprise player, but if you are ever in southeast Ky. on a Friday night and want to see a playmaker on defense, go by Williamsburg and watch Aaron Root play linebacker. This past season he was in on over 160 tackles. Very instintive and plays, forgive the expression, "balls to the wall", like every play could be his last.

I think Ryle should have some pretty good players. Scott Gray and Vince Murray will be seniors! Word has it Scott took the season off of basketball so that he could be in the weight room! It should be an excellent 1-2 punch in the back field for the Raiders next season

The Dutton twins will electrify....

Please elaborate. I assume they are freshmen now. What position do they play? What is their size and weight? How did they do as freshmen? Thanks for any additional info.

They are sophmores. Both ran track and did pretty well. I believe they wear numbers 2 and 13. One was hurt towards the end of the season, the other filled in for Kircher when his ankle flared up. They both made some pretty nice catch-n-runs as freshmen and JVs. They will be very good in Trinity's system as they can catch, avoid a tackle, and both have the speed to finish. Not sure about their size, but they are plenty fast.

Another kid that I think will have an impact is Bobby Petrino in the secondary. He can cover and he will hit the opponent with everything he has.

Is he still on the team? I heard that he was no longer on the team.
