Surprise players in 06?

Ln can't say I disagree with your thinking. However having 5 seniors on O line may hurt in the grand scheme. This past year there was little if no rotation on O line. If that would be the case this coming season, then the cupboard is bare in 07. I have to believe any HS coach , while definitely putting the best on the field now, has to have the next year in the back of his mind also. Take in case the QB position at HHS. Having 2 experienced senior QBs this past season was a security blanket, but leaves the Birds with no experince at that position for 06. I guess that is one of the fine lines that coaches deal with, Win today but also plan for future, glad its not me.

I would be so absolutely disappointed in Dale if he failed to do everything in his powers to win this year. If our best o linemen are all seniors, that's who he should play. That is what he did in 04 by the way (all 5 starting linemen, Lawrence, Connelly/Brossart, Cecil, Matazak and Haas were seniors), so I don't think I need to be worried about being disappointed in Dale.

That'll work for me. Regardless of 4 or 5 seniors they will be an outstanding unit. Draper or whoever is at QB and all the running backs should prosper due to the Doggies up front.

The "or whoever" part of your statement bothers me. If there is a "whoever", they should have been getting JV reps to be ready for the upcoming year. The QB position isn't something you "learn in the spring".

I am sure Draper is far and away the leading candidate at QB. I am guessing there will be competition for the position. I am positive that Draper being the starter, there will be a backup, hence thats where whoever comes in. The backup QB will also benefit working behind a stalwart O line.

The Dutton twins will electrify....

#20 Grim for JCHS will be a force. Ian Welch from JCHS will be a sleeper next season on both sides of the ball. Also watch for freshman Dillion who will make an impact in this district.

Ashland is definelty the favorite in the district for 06. I would say Lawrence is second, then JCHS is a distant 3rd.

Bleser will have a great year for CovCath at QB

I have heard that there are several Big guys planning to play ball at Highlands that did not play last season for one reason or another.(no, they are not transfers!) Matt Rogers 6' 1, 250, Zack Rawlings 6'2, 250+, and two others whose names escape me but I know them to be big boys that may be able to fill holes or block effectively if called upon. If these guys do come out and work hard, there will be no doubts left about the O or D lines for the Birds next season. Both Rogers and Rawlings are very strong and could contribute immediately. Lots of athletic talent, reasonably quick feet for their size etc...

You are saying that Ashland is the Definite favorite to win the district and JC a distant third behind LC. Wow i thought JC was alittle better than that.

I look for Blake Johnson to turn some heads in terms of college scouts. Has good size and good speed and really likes to bring it from his LB position. I as well expect Grimm and Welch to be a big suprise to the opponents in our district and region.

Ryan Howard of Leslie County. A 1,900 yard back in a mainly passing oriented offense this past season. Will be a force next year on the field.

How is Ryan Howard going to be a surprise player next season if he was already a great player last season?

What year will Draper be in the fall? Who else is up for the qb job?

I've said that all along :thumb: He's fast, can cover, and he'll put a hit on anyone, no matter what size :ylsuper:
