November 20, 201114 yr Doesn't someone have to draw a line somewhere, or do we all just let anything and everything go. As for me, I'll be "predictable" and over react. In other words, Ill draw a line. We can say, "oh no big deal" then we wonder why a kid uses the same word on facebook toward Highlands. (see football forum) To have a moral compass, character, respect and sense of what is appropriate is not old fashioned, it is the very thing that keeps society from imploding. Its called self governing. If we think that self governing is somehow over reacting or inappropriate, we as a nation, are in real trouble. I have no problem with ESPN making an anti-cursing statement and maybe even a punishment for Corso. My only thought was why post constant updates from Penn State with the absolute most vile things possible running across the screen 24 hours a day with no concern, then find concern about a curse word? I would have made the ESPN Bottom Line dealing with Penn State much more PG than it was.
November 20, 201114 yr I'm with Clyde. This doesn't make my list of concerns. People make mistakes. I don't feel like they should be crucified for it. This reminds me of a Bill Hicks stand-up. He was talking about some Christians confronting him and not liking something he said. His response was, "Then forgive me."
November 20, 201114 yr I do understand your point. I really do. I was unaware of the graphic "bottom line" news rolled across the screen. I have to admit, I haven't watched espn much lately since the kids ball season has started. I can assure you though, if there was a thread started about it, I would have "over reacted" in the same way. In fact, I find myself "over reacting" often at some of the stuff that is on tv these days. No, I am not getting old, the line just keeps being moved.
November 20, 201114 yr Corso is good for the game, just as Vitale is good for basketball. He made a mistake for which there isn't an excuse. Perhaps keep him off camera for the rest of the year, but in no way do you cut him loose entirely.
November 20, 201114 yr He needs to be fired, TODAY! As a young child I loved football and I'm sure there were many young kids watching Corso pick the team, there is a camera in front of you and you have been doing this act for many years. He needs to be let go, what is this nation turning to? Chris/Kirk were trying to help the situation, but I bet he is in trouble. He apolized afew hours later, and that was quick, I wonder why? He is an announcer, thats his job. He has failed. If you people on here think its ok, and so forth, why the quick apology? It was wrong, and sad, and classless, I'll answer for you. Over-react much? Its not like he went on a psychopathic tirade. He made a mistake and I believe it just slipped out.
November 20, 201114 yr No big deal. I thought it was hilarious. I cuss like a sailor. Glad to see Lee Corso is human. If ESPN fires him or even takes him off camera I may have to seriously think about getting my sports info elsewhere. That'd be ridiculous. If they fire him they better keep the cameras off of coaches and quit lip reading what they said to all of us also. The "F" word is allowed to be said one time in a PG-13 movie. Sign of the times......

Sign of the times...... But you expect to be exposed to foul language from coaches, players or fans during a game. You know that it is a very good possibility that you (or more likely, your children) will be exposed to it. Same is true with a PG-13 or higher rated movie. You know it before you go into it. So if I watch something like that, the onus is on me if I'm exposed to it & no one else can be blamed. GameDay is a completely different animal & is a venue where profanity is not supposed to happen. Again, Corso apologized & I accept that. I understand the struggle to sometimes say things when you're not supposed to say them. If ESPN chooses to refrain from any kind of punishment, I'm fine with that. He made a mistake & deserves forgiveness. But I think to say any punishment is "ridiculous" is a bit strong. He used language that is common in many circles, but on this occasion he used it in an impermissible setting.
November 20, 201114 yr ^ So you're telling me that when watching Gameday, a program that features thousands of drunken college students chanting things in the background, you don't ever expect to hear a curse word?
November 20, 201114 yr ^ So you're telling me that when watching Gameday, a program that features thousands of drunken college students chanting things in the background, you don't ever expect to hear a curse word? I've never heard one. Do you think it would be ridiculous of ESPN to consider punishment for Corso?
November 20, 201114 yr Over-react much? Its not like he went on a psychopathic tirade. He made a mistake and I believe it just slipped out. " You judge people much? Whats his job? Talking on TV/ How many times has he put on the mascot head? He is a Pro, Give me a break. It was SMU/Houston. Its funny after my harse comments about Lee, YOU were the only one to make a comment about me. And it hasn't been the first time.
November 20, 201114 yr It's not okay, but it's just a mistake. This has been three of the worse weeks in college sports history, an F-bomb by an announcer is small potatoes. Kids under 10 years old watch College Game day to see Lee and his mascot picks.

Perhaps keep him off camera for the rest of the year, but in no way do you cut him loose entirely. To be fair Lee had a stroke a couple of years ago and some of his mistakes were on Youtube and he had quite a few. He should not be fired but I'm sure the ESPN brass will speak with him.
November 20, 201114 yr I've never heard one. Do you think it would be ridiculous of ESPN to consider punishment for Corso? No, but I think it would be ridiculous for them to overreact to something that is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. Mistakes happen. The annals of TV history are littered with incidents of people slipping up when on live TV.
