Funny how the team getting thumped (T in 2009 and X last week) always thinks the opponent should have backed off. However, in fairness to X, T does have a greater ability to score quickly, so X probably has more reason to not pull starters. Having said that, at least T ran off tackle with their #2 RB as opposed to running a fake FG, but how fans look at both events is solely determined by whether or not they prefer yellow with their green.

  • As the former parent of a player who's kid didn't get to play much, if at all, I can say that I understand where your question comes from. Admittedly, there were times that I would be frustrated for

Not sure I follow you but if you think this is the rivalry of even 2 years ago you have your head in the sand. I made no judgment either way just stated facts that it is not the same. Many of the guys you played with would not see the field or the court if you want to talk basketball. What X decides to do is what I am asking. We will struggle to compete if we don't change something. I think you scoring stats prove that as well as provides another "dig".

Go Tigers

A couple of years ago a certain X poster told me to worry about what goes on in St. Matthews and that Poplar Level Road was none of my business. May I suggest he take his own advise.

Take a look at X's roster and let me know where the running backs, linebackers and cornerbacks who played Friday went to grade school.

If possible look up these running backs from 2010:

Lamont McMurry

Brandon Moore

Arkez Joiner

Lemondray Clemons

Jeonta Hayden

Devontae Beach

Thanks in advance. Anxious to see what CSAA schools these guys played for.

Just be glad they didn't run a fake FG...

I believe that comment will settle this one!!!!

However, I think (this season only) you have to score as much as possible as T is legitimately in the running for the national title and the score matters.

Head in sand.... I made no mention X does not have non CSAA players. If you cannot agree things are different now we must agree to disagree and move on.

Last 4 meetings:

T 48-0

T 35-7

T 41-6

T 42-6

Average score: 41-4.

Trinity has made 20 extra points...St. X has scored 19 total points.

Thanks CR -- I was going to put in a request for same - but as usual - your ahead of me.

I would be curious to see what these numbers look like since the infamous "tip of the hat" game ??

[sorry X faithful - I really try to let things go but sometimes don't succeed....]

Hats off to Trinity, they are loaded. I am not sure where this rivalry goes from here if Trinity continues to get the kids they are getting and X stays more conservative on and off the field. We are not playing the same game anymore. Beatty has always had better scheme but not always better players, now he has both. My Tigers will need to make changes if administration decides to elevate football to compete with Trinity or just be 2-3rd best team in state. Jury still out....

Either way, Go Tigers

With respect to my T brethern - I thought this was a fairly straightforward post. Applaud your support of your team/school. Thought you interestingly raised some relevant points.

But as pointed out by someone else - guess it is really none of anyone else's business !!!!!

Thanks for the concesion.

Now that we have that established, those kids took their placement test at St. Xavier in 2006. I guess X hasn't been as, what was the word you used, "conservative" as you opined. Well, at least not since 2006.

I think it is laughable that some of you on both the T and X side can NOT figure out how to win or lose with some class.

Ohhhhhh and the comments about who has what public school kids are at each school is laughable too.

TD, I also have just read the comments and stayed out of this, in fact I'm done with HS comments until July, and will focus my time on other things and not football even in college. Oh, maybe a little college. Y'all come on over and join in, its fun.

Why does it matter where a kid wen to grade school? I knew I was going to Trinity while I was in the womb. But yet I went to public schools all the way through 8th grade and played Optomist football the entire time.

Let me start by saying I do not have a dog in this fight.

I think the problem or what people are questioning in recent years is amount of kids that are now coming out of the public school system vs. years ago (I am going back 15/20/25 years.) The fact that a certain amount are athletes we all hear about adds fuel to the fire. To make matters worse if the kid is an athlete and it is appears he/she does not have the financial resources to attend a private school it makes people question.

I understand that every parent has the right to choose (hopefully with input from the child as well) where their son/daughter goes to school. One of my son's attended public school up until this year. He is now in a catholic high school. He does not play sports. He wanted to attend this school for several reasons (none which are relevant to this thread.)

I am not going to lie and say I don't question things that are taken place within high school sports these days (both private and public.) For some programs it has become a business. I hate to see that but it is what it is.

We could only wish. On a side note. I hate that our being on the same side, on most occasions, is coming to and end for the year.......

I was a public school kid as well. My brother and sister were private. I was the bad egg....but you all knew that already.
