I still don't know if Dawkins can make it into that "stable of running backs". What do you think?

  • As the former parent of a player who's kid didn't get to play much, if at all, I can say that I understand where your question comes from. Admittedly, there were times that I would be frustrated for

Would that be the "stable" off of poplar level ??????

I don't think Dalyn would enjoy the grade school, highly predictable style offense they run on Poplar Level road. I thought we were suppose to see this so called, “wide open offense”. Are you kidding me. As I stated on the prediction thread... Just keep drinking the Glaser cool-aid. GO ROCKS! Bring home another State Championship. While your there... collect your mythical National Championship!

A St. X faithful made this comment to me... it's a more modern offense as instead of 3 yards and a cloud of dust it's three yards and a cloud of little rubber pellets.

With the exception of Dawkins and the O-line, I thought T had a very below average game. However, X was so unimaginative it really didn't matter. IMO they were playing to just not get beaten too badly. And some of the blind side shots to the legs of T players late in the game was pretty uncharacteristic of an X team.

I hope that conduct did not result in any injuries !!!

Hats off to the Trinity team and we will be pulling for you to finish off the season with the National Championship.

My prediction was 35-14 and Hatchers fumble recovery switched the final score by a TD.

But Trinity faithful, just answer me this.

Here is the 4th quarter play from Trinity's web site.

H 4-7 V26 T Wright pass complete to J Quick for 10 yards to the STXAVIER16, 1ST

DOWN THS (L Clemons).

H 1-10 V16 D Dawkins rush for 16 yards to the STXAVIER0, 1ST DOWN THS,

TOUCHDOWN, clock 06:14.

V 1-10 V36 A Mattingly rush to the STXAVIER35, fumble by A Mattingly recovered by THS J

Hatcher at STXAVIER35, J Hatcher for 35 yards to the STXAVIER0, TOUCHDOWN,

clock 05:53.

H 1-10 H49 TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL drive start at 03:44 (4th).

H 1-10 H49 G Sauer rush for 4 yards to the STXAVIER47 (S Ariza).

H 2-6 V47 D Dawkins rush for 39 yards to the STXAVIER8, 1ST DOWN THS.

Up 29-6 6:14 left in the game, Wright to Quick for a 1st down?

up 36-6 5:53 left in the game, Hatcher still in and returns the fumble for a TD

Up 42-6 under 3:44 Dawkins still carrying the ball

Up 42-6 under a minute, 4 runs trying to score????? Instead of taking a classy knee?

Really, it is up to us to stop you, I get that, but putting a player in harms way and then accusing St X of blind side shots to the legs?

Please don't bring up stuff from 2 years ago- this was a chance for a coach to make his own decisions about personnel and do you defend his decisions?

I was in attendance at this game. X had all # 1s in. T did likewise. If some fans are questioning hits one way or another, that is what it is - some fans, not all. X played hard; T played hard.

Injuries happen. It is a violent game. Move on.

Both great programs were playing to win; both great programs were doing so with maximum effort. I hope all of them are OK and can return to compete another day. I do feel for Miles Bland, the senior from T who apparently suffered an ACL injury. Great kid.

The way I look at it if your #1s are still in, then it is okay to leave in ours. I wouldn't have objected had we taken them out.

X had #1s in, T had #1 O-line and #2s at QB, RB, & WRs on the last drive.

If T put the #2 defense in X may have scored. Then again, if X had put in #2s then T would have also. But make no mistake, Ts #2s are better than Xs #2s so do you tell them to not play hard? I think it was fine for X to leave the #1s in, and it was equally fine for T to leave in the #1 O-line with backups at all the skill positions. If T wanted to run up the score then all of the #1s would have been in to punch it in at the end. The Rocks showed plenty of class by letting the #2s try to score against Xs #1s. Congrats to X for stopping them.

The issue is so far from being substitution patterns. It is scheme and play calling. And T wins both in a landslide.

Last 4 meetings:

T 48-0

T 35-7

T 41-6

T 42-6

Average score: 41-4.

Trinity has made 20 extra points...St. X has scored 19 total points.

Hats off to Trinity, they are loaded. I am not sure where this rivalry goes from here if Trinity continues to get the kids they are getting and X stays more conservative on and off the field. We are not playing the same game anymore. Beatty has always had better scheme but not always better players, now he has both. My Tigers will need to make changes if administration decides to elevate football to compete with Trinity or just be 2-3rd best team in state. Jury still out....

Either way, Go Tigers

What took you so long?

Are you serious? The #1's for X are seniors and that will be the last play for most of them for the rest of their lives. Trinity has a game next week. Why not pull them unless you don't think 29-6 is impressive enough, 36-6 isn't either and 42-6 isn't either. Quick is out due to injury, but Dawkins is still running the ball on the last drivebehind the #1 offensive line? Under 3 minutes and up 42-6? Scheme and play calling when its 42-6? Take a knee....

Just be glad they didn't run a fake FG...
