Trinity 42 Saint Xavier 6

X has been #1 twice in their history (that I can remember): In the mid 70s under Bill Glaser, and in the late 90s when T was down. However, I don't know that I would call them #2 over time. To me they are still more of a 1A. But golly, if they took some of that golf, tennis, and cross country energy and put it into football who knows how good they could be? I guess it's just a different belief system. :sssh::lol:

I agree with that. Trinity and X still are Co#1's in the largest class.

  • As the former parent of a player who's kid didn't get to play much, if at all, I can say that I understand where your question comes from. Admittedly, there were times that I would be frustrated for

Saying that X is a long term No 2 doesn't mean that there aren't years when they are on top. Of course there are, but two years in the mid 70s and four or five in the late 90s don't change the story. Over the past 60 years X has been content to be somebodys second fiddle.

Music to my ears.

I really don't think anyone who looks at this objectively thinks that at any time x has been second fiddle, nor content to be second. fiddle. The program has enjoyed a great deal of success, just not as many titles as we may have liked. The pendulum always swings in this series. T has been incredibly successful with outstanding athletes, but this group will graduate (thank goodness) and we will move on.

Quick took the test at X. Had he gone there maybe we wouldn't have this thread.

Cross country and golfers don't quit football for their sports. Maybe soccer, but not enough to make a difference.

We have been successful, just not the titles. most programs would take our results right now. The 05 team started 4 National Merit Scholars. Mike is in weddings each year of former players. Players go on to college and become successful. I can live with that.

Here's another example of what Trinity parents here have said. This video is 28 minutes long, but at about 5:39 or 5:40 into the video, UL Coach Charlie Strong is asked about how Will Stein has handled being replaced by Teddy Bridgewater.

Thanks for finding that and sharing it. REally nice comments by Coach Strong. Strong testament to Will as well as the T program.

Win or loose come Friday - wouldn't trade places with anybody else.
