Have the team pat it on their way out? Have any of these players seen it in their high school careers?

 

When the Seniors were Frosh, they (those that moved up) experienced it during the playoffs. The cannon crew would have gotten quite the workout with this year's fast and high scoring team. :thumb:

I understand, my ears are still ringing from that thing going off close to us on a goal line run in 97. I was thinking that I value symetry (sp?) over historical accuracy. One on each side of the entrance balances the look.

I miss the cannon! It's just not the same anymore. That ridiculous video and music they play now drives me crazy! If we can't have the real cannon anymore, I wish they would make a film of the thing going off and play that on the video screen instead. Go Birds!

The kids and majority would disagree with the music. Watch from where we stand and the crowd loves it. As for a video of the Cannon going off on the Jumbotron, yeah that's the same experience. Hahaha!!!

If by cave you mean grotto with a statue of The Virgin Mary, then yes, CovCath has a cave. If you haven't seen it up close I recommend it. It really is a beautiful setup.

I agree. It's nice to pass by it on the way over to the visitor's stands.

I always thought that would be cool too. It really is an icon, like the Liberty Bell or any other object that was once used, but now only inspires.

I am by no shape or means a H supporter, but a good idea would be to use it as the team runs on the field the way Clemson uses Howard's rock in Death Valley. Someone could come up with a quote to be ecthed on the cannon and they could touch it on the way to the field.
