December 8, 201114 yr A lot of them are thinking "good riddance" and "glad we're not stuck with that contract." I was thinking more along the lines of how he pretty much strung them along the whole time. He always seemed to imply it wasn't about money, and it obviously was only about that.

December 8, 201114 yr Cards possibly going after Beltran and/or J-Roll now...Interesting.That would definitely be 2 great pick ups. How "possible" does it look?
December 8, 201114 yr Author It's always about money. Anyone who believes differently is an idiot.Wilson took less to stay at home...
December 8, 201114 yr Wilson took less to stay at home... That could be worth quite a bit of money as well. 1 house, a car...etc.

He always seemed to imply it wasn't about money, and it obviously was only about that. $30-50M difference is too much money for anyone to pass on. Pujols had no choice IMO. The Cardinals are going to realize just how big a loss this is next year. The bad thing for me is people are going to see the Cardinals down next year and will attribute a lot of it to LaRussa when not having Pujols will be the difference much, much more than LaRussa.
December 8, 201114 yr Wilson took less to stay at home...Lot's of players give the home town discount but not to the ture of $30-$50 million. How much less did Wilson take?
December 8, 201114 yr Looks like Pujols turned down 10 years $275 million from the Marlins. Anyone still want to say he's greedy?
December 8, 201114 yr Sounds like the Cardinals have also lost Dotel to the Tigers....Tough day to be a Cards fan.

They already had big question marks ... second base, shortstop and center field. And remember, the Cardinals weren't very good last year until they sent Rasmus packing for short-term pitching help, much of which is gone now.
