No respect at all for Ashland? They've been pretty good this year, I'd be shocked if they don't give CCH a game if not more. I couldn't see it getting that bad.

If the Colonels come out like they did against RC, this game will come down to the wire. The only way I can see this happening is if the come out firing on all cylinders. Even then, I doubt that they would be up comfortably enough to where the starters come out in the second quarter. I think you should expect a pretty good game.

If we look at CCH in their tough opponent games, then we will see CCH struggle in the first half trying to find what to do on offense, then they will come out in the second half and remember their strength is running the ball and take control of the game. I know .... :deadhorse: ... but, am I wrong? That has been CCH's recipe for success this season so why change it? Ashland appears to have a very strong team this season. Unfortunately for them, CCH has their best team since the 2006 state champions and IMO would be favorites for the state championship if not for the Bluebirds. CCH is very, very good this year so I am going to go with the Colonels by two TD's.

I need some NEKY fans to describe the Ashland team. I really know nothing about them.

 

Ashland is fairly balanced and has some decent weapons this year. They have a four years starting QB that is a smart player and makes good decisions. They have several decent RB's. I don't think any of the RB are dominant, but as a group, they are good. They have several good receivers that won't let you crowd the box. They also have a pretty fast defense (Holding Jude to 83 yards on the game). The big question going into the season was the OL/DL, but they developed a pretty good line before the season started. I say all in all they are a good team. I don't know how they will match up with CCH, but they are pretty decent.

That sounds like a bad matchup for Ashland. The strength of Cov Cath is definitely their line play and a great running back in Gabe Gray. I will be interested in hearing commentary after the game from Ashland comparing Jude to Gray.

Cov Cath is and should be the favorite. Ashland is very good at home and are very well coached. I just have a feeling that Ashland will pull this one out.

They are the team that held the Belfry very potent running game to 7 points. They are also the team that held J.J.Jude to 83 yards. I defintely believe that CCH is the better team, but they are going to be in a game and a tough one having to drive over 2 hours to play at Putnam Stadium. Should Ashland pull this out I seriously doubt they can hang with Highlands like CCH did, but I don't think CCH can do that twice. But I have been wrong before, yesterday in fact, I picke Alabama to win. So I'm not perfect, but I'm usually pretty close.

I'm looking forward to checking out the Tomcats. The challenge with CCH is you can't sell out on defense to stop one area a la selling out to stop Jude. Pick your poison.

 

I noticed in the stats for the regular season that Ashland spreads the running duties around. 3 backs between 400 and 600 yards. QB looks to be efficient.

Everything I've heard from the folks who've played Ashland (including the Rowan County radio crew from Saturday) is that Ashland is a solid and well-rounded team in all aspects. They play conservatively, but are very tough when it comes down to it. If you can pick a particular strength over anything in particular, it's the depth they have on offense. They can always put in fresh talent if someone on the offense gets tired.

 

I see this as being one of the best games in the state to watch this Friday.

Rowan County may have done the Colonels a favor by their inspired first half play. 7-7 at the half was a wake up call. If the Colonels look beyond the Tomcats, there won't be a rematch with the Birds. At Cov. Cath. on a Saturday afternoon, I would pick the Colonels to win comfortably. At a neutral site I would pick the Colonels by 10 or so points. At Ashland may be another matter. I agree with the opinions expressed that this will be a barn burner. I predict that Cov. Cath. will eeek out a victory. I wouldn't be stunned if the game went the other way.
