Highlands 63 Ryle 14

Let's just say I happen to know a LOT about what goes on at Ryle and have had enough of the garbage on this thread. For the few cheap shot artists, here are the facts: Ryle has endured an unparalled series of injuries this year. If you were at the game (I'm sure RB was and Clyde was not), perhaps you counted 16 Raider players in street clothes. Of course, there is no way that any team in the country could EVER even have 13 players out according to some know it all. Oh really, are you a certified physician?? So, here is the list of adversity facts for Ryle 2011:

1) Bret Crawford- SR starting DL (would have backed up on OL) - torn ACL - surgery in late July - remote possibility of returning due to amazing rehab story (if cleared by doctors)

2) Travis Elliott - SR starting RB (would have played some LB) - torn ACL - surgery in early September - out for year

3) Travis Pavy - JR starting DE (started on 2010 team at DE) - shoulder surgery - out for year

4) Dylan Plvan - JR starting LB - shoulder surgery - out for year

5) Nick Kennedy - JR starting CB - 4.6 40 lockdown corner - shoulder surgery next week - out for year

6) Brad Weber - JR starting OT (started on 2010 team) foot surgery this past week - return questionable

7) Austin Trego - JR - starting safety - emergency appendectomy this past week, out 3-4 weeks???

8) Mitch Howes - JR - starting OT (started on DL, too) - concussion not cleared to play by doctors per IMPACT test, should return vs. GRC

9) Mac Vollet - SR - stud starting LB and OG - maybe you could ask Mr. Compton from Highlands about Mac "Truck" Vollett - shoulder severe stinger, not cleared by doctors to play vs. Highlands, should return vs. GRC

10) Nathan Davis - JR - starting QB - ankle sprain vs. Dixie, not cleared by doctors to play vs. Highlands, should return vs. GRC

11) Matt Reif - JR - started on special teams - high ankle sprain, not cleared by doctors to play vs. Highlands, should return vs. GRC

12) Michael Finkelstein - JR - starting DL - torn ligament in elbow - out for year

13) Cam Andrews - SO - backup OL - concussion - out for 1-2 weeks

14) Cody Ansevino - JR - backup OL - back injury - out for year

15) Thomas Baumann - JR - backup DB - back injury - out for year

16) CJ Kish - JR - back LB - second concussion - out for year

So, that's 11 starters and a couple of them started both ways so that is 13 starting positions. I wonder how the Almighty Birds would do if they would have had the misfortune of losing 13 starting position players this year and took on a relatively injury-free Raiders team tonight. OMG, Dale would have lost on Senior Night to Ryle for 2 straight losses to the Raiders.

It's life. We have had a lot of adversity this year. Congrats to Highlands. They were the better team tonight.

Ryle will rebound and do well in the playoffs in spite of all the "encouragement" from the peanut gallery.

Just curious, how many of those starters did Ryle have out when they played Campbell Co.?

Six (first half) and Seven (second half) when Mac was shut down by the docs and Campbell scored all of their points.

Hmm...:eyeonyou:

There is so much speculation about what is happening to the football program in Union. I certainly hope kids don't read the ridiculous statements made by raiderbird and Clyde. Ryle went in the game and played hard with able bodies. Obviously they were not able to compete very well tonight. Ryle, not counting kickers, had 12 seniors this season...2 of which are out for the year...another 2 were in street clothes. Their numbers will be back up in the future and I assure you, you will take more than your foot out of your mouth. Now on to GRC.

How about the game? LOL

I know I know it was a laughter but if anyone in that stadium thought PT's first bomb TD pass was going to be caught I'd call you a liar. He launched that thing to the back Oh the endzone and Ozzie Sheehan turned on the radar and honed in on it big-time. Wow how did he get to that ball?

As far as Rule players being hurt, I sure hope they were legitimately out for those reasons. A school that size I thought would have more solid backups.

I'm guessing I should know what LTI means but I can't come up with anything.

Just guessing here, but I would take LTI to mean Last Team In.

You know if I was a starter, I'd be hot about being yanked before halftime. Highlands needs to try and play a tougher schedule. I know there is nothing they can do about the district, but ya can't keep programs like Dixie and Ryle on the schedule. And all of you who want to see Highland and Simon Kenton... Oh my god, Highlands Frosh would have been on the field in the 2nd quarter.

If going 6 and 4, finishing 2nd in the district and hosting a playoff game next week is a down year, oh well. What would you call Dixie's year? I think when you say a program had a down year and still has a winning record it points out the fact they have a pretty solid program.

The Highlands arrogance continues. No, we made up all of these injuries of kids who could have been playing but they were afraid to play the Almighty Birds. We have played teams a lot better than Highlands in the last 12 months - namely Colerain and Trinity.

The Highlands arrogance continues. Trust me. What happened last night will never happen again in a Ryle-Highlands game. It's never happened before since the series was renewed where the Birds did not have to play starters all 4 quarters vs. Ryle. It won't happen again. Way to win with class!!

Totally agree! Highlands again dismantled a pretty solid team on their way to #21. Go Birds and good Luck to Ryle next week in their quest to make a run!
