Stop it Cricket!!!!!!!!!! You and I both understand what Highlands is all about, its about Tradition. You know that better facilities wouldnt help them win more or beat teams by more points.

I guess new state of the art facilities would stop all of the crying and complaining on here about Highlands facilities and using them as an opportunity to take shots at Highlands instead of taking care of their own business on the field. LOL

The policeman is OK. The Ryle cheerleader appeared to have a sprained ankle. All because there is no where for them to stand out of harm's way when the Highlands kid picked up a PF for a flagrantly late hit out of bounds and nearly knocked Pulice into the wall and took out the policeman and cheerleader. I think the policeman was trying to protect the cheerleader. Good work by the blue in Ft. Thomas.

 

I may be wrong, but from the end zone, that was a good hit. The Ryle runner was still in bounds with TD in his eyes and took a hard shot from the HHS defender. Seemed to me that the aftermath had something to do with the flag being thrown. Shame that spectators got hurt, but we're not in a position to annex a pasture and call it our stadium like a lot of schools are.

Streeter did hit him hard, but he was a yard in bounds when contact was made.

On the play though, it is odd how if a kid has got his eyes on the goal line and is moving upfield it becomes a flaggrant hit to some. Geez lets not turn this into one of those GCL mentality threads about opposing teams coming into their house and earning respect and expecting hits like those. LOL.

I respectfully disagree with your statment regarding concern of the Ryle program after this game. Did you state this concern before the game? Have you stated this concern regarding any of the other programs that HHS beat this year? There were 8 starters that did not play last night......so take 8 starters from a team and have them on the bench and you hope that your back ups will fill in? 5 additional player's "BANGED UP" (if you need the names of the 8, I can give you each name and their role as starters at the begining of the year.).....8 starters out?...YES!!!

 

First of all many people thought that the Ryle program was rebuilding this year and if they finished 5-5 that would be a good season. When Elliott went out most thought that Ryle was done, they will not win any more games. So they are 6-4 and seeded #2 in the play-offs and you are throwing the coaching staff under the bus. What makes you think that his attitude for game 10 was different then game 1 (Both non-district games)? Are you saying that when he stepped out on the field, he gave up?

 

I live in this community and if you think that I have a black eye because of last night, then you're wrong. It is easy to be an arm chair coach. Do I think that he was trying to make sure that his starters are rested for next week, probably and does this happen this time of year? Yes. Do you rest a pitcher an extra game so he can start him on a given day if you need to...yes...Do you pull players early to ensure that they do not get injured becasue of a playoff game the next week? Yes...Highlands is a great team and will do excellent during the playoffs and win it. Is the Ryle program that same this year as it was last year? No... Will it be the same next year? No. I think he has re-evaluted the team and made some changes. If Ryle was 4-6 or 3-7, I would defintely support your statement of 180 degrees....but they are not.

 

As for the on-sides kick at the ned of the game, I remember a coach saying that the job is to put the ball in the end zone and the other teams job is to stop them. Trust me I know we did not do a good job of stopping Highlands, but I am not throwing in the towel.

When the other team is killing you and they have their 3rd string jv in the game you don't on-sides kick..Highlands could of kept their starters in the game and beat you 90 something to 0..That's BUSH LEAGUE!! When the 1's are in do what ever you want..You don't do it when the other team is taking their foot off of your throat..Classless!!

Which game did they run? I like True as a blocking back which IMO is just as important as the kid toting the pigskin. I could see Jake beefing up a little more and being an excellent fullback at a small college.

 

Frog Seidle is exceptionally fast and was very effective.

 

What nobody has mentioned though was the tenacious YAC running by Tight End Ian Mcgurn. That kid was shaking off tacklers like lint balls on a shirt. He was possessed last night.

 

They've run enough most games to show they can. They have some real talent in the position that gets overshadowed with the air attack. I'm sure someone, sometime will get a reminder.

He was about 2 yards out of bounds...you did not have a good vantage point.

Listen to yourself here...If the Cop and cheerleaders were two yards out, Highlands football stadium needs to be shut down. There is a three yard box from the sideline, where nobody can stand. So you are implying that the cop and cheerleaders were in the "box"? No, the fact is that the Ryle player was hit once he was already out of bounds and then both players rolled and tumbled towards the bleachers, knocking out people like bowling pins.

Fastball, privately I have expressed concern. Friday's exhibition obviously put me over the edge. No one seems to be willing to address the issue of declining depth and numbers. Not sure why that is. No one wants to acknowledge that Coach Warner doesn't have a history of resting players in the last week (see last year's win over HHS). That tells me he bagged it this year because he knew he was in trouble. That's fine. Lots of teams would be in trouble against HHS. Just be consistent.
