Highlands 63 Ryle 14

Featured Replies

We have a ton of talent this year and there was a big chunk of it that was standing on the sidelines last night. What you people don't understand that is if we had a "normal" injury year, that would have been a dogfight last night.

For a half maybe.

Ryle had a good team last year that could compete with Highlands. Not even close this year, injuries or not, it was still going to be a blowout. Might not have been a running clock, but it would have been a comfotable win for the 'Birds.

Were there running clocks and no starters in the second half in those other games?

Nope. Is that the goal?

And, the Highlands arrogance continues. What else do you call it? Way to win with class!!
Arrorgance? Really? :idunno:

No way... You wouldn't come close to stopping the Birds offense. Ryle has no qb and you would hand the ball to Elliott 40 times..I say maybe 42-7.. Dogfight no way..

We agree to disagree. I am sure you would have held Elliott to 40 yards because your defense is so incredible. Nice slam on our QB, too.

Hey, the sun is shining and it's going to be a great weekend. Congrats to the Birds on winning and best of luck to CovCath the rest of the year. Have a super weekend!

As far as Rule players being hurt, I sure hope they were legitimately out for those reasons. A school that size I thought would have more solid backups.

That's my point. You should have enough varsity reserves in a school with 1500 boys to not have to throw the JV boys to the wolves.

Straight can take it as cheapshots from the peanut gallery but he's completely missing the point by focusing on the number of injured players that will miraculously be ready next week. Even if they were 100% unable to play last night it still speaks volumes that the next line of players were the poor JV boys. That's my point. Ryle has too many resources for this to be the case.

Guess so... Anyway, I stand by my thought that the Birds, should play a more aggressive out of district schedule

And he's gone. Classic fire and fall back. Play the arrogance card, then run.

 Nah, I would give Elliott 4yds a carry..Not a slam on your qb..He is just to small and makes bad decisions.. You guys had a really good qb last year and never really utilized him..

Then, they are not man enough to tell me that when I ask them why they don't want to play football. Seems like you really have something against Coach Warner. I know but I won't share that info.

I see a slip here, could this be a Ryle coach?

If so its probably not best to get on here and banter with fans.

I respect the Raiders for scheduling the Birds twice and with the injuries you were in s tough spot playing younger kids. But my question is why are the numbers low and there such a disparity in talent level from starter to backup with a 6A school.

Anyway, back to the game. Despite the HUGE offensive numbers, Ryle was able to get consistent pressure on Towels. Highlands didn't really run the ball so going one dimensional may have helped Ryle. That was really my only concern.

I noticed that also but it's not really a concern as they've proven they have a run game when they need it.

Which game did they run? I like True as a blocking back which IMO is just as important as the kid toting the pigskin. I could see Jake beefing up a little more and being an excellent fullback at a small college.

Frog Seidle is exceptionally fast and was very effective.

What nobody has mentioned though was the tenacious YAC running by Tight End Ian Mcgurn. That kid was shaking off tacklers like lint balls on a shirt. He was possessed last night.

The policeman is OK. The Ryle cheerleader appeared to have a sprained ankle. All because there is no where for them to stand out of harm's way when the Highlands kid picked up a PF for a flagrantly late hit out of bounds and nearly knocked Pulice into the wall and took out the policeman and cheerleader. I think the policeman was trying to protect the cheerleader. Good work by the blue in Ft. Thomas.

Always unfortunate when anyone is injured on or off the field. Its a real shame that Highlands doesnt have the luxuries of some of the larger Public schools. I understand your dig on Highlands facilities as much as anyone elses. Nobody wants to come into to DCM and be embarrassed like Ryle was last nite.

Nice recovery on making amends with the Finest. LOL.

I talked to the officer that had the run in with Coach W last yr before the game and we had a good laugh together.
