Highlands 63 Ryle 14

Featured Replies

Clyde, you are very wrong about the number of true starters who are either out for the season or not cleared to play tonight. It is over half the starters from week 1. Very cheap shot. Ryle will be fine

You're telling me 13 players had serious enough injuries that they coudn't play in the state championship game?

Ryle needs to be concerned about the state of their program. They are a huge school yet they seem to be down in the 50s for their roster after having 80+ a few years ago.

Now they pack it in before the game even starts and put kids who are not close to varsity-ready on the field with the #2 team in the entire state. You're telling me that a school with over 1200 kids can't come up with enough boys to put in to give HHS a decent contest? Playing JV and freshman against HHS? Disturbing if you're a Ryle supporter.

Please don't tell me about 13 players being "out." No team in the country has 13 players "out." Banged up? Sure. Out? No chance.

If Bryson is going to have this attitude towards game 10 he simply needs to schedule only 9 games and use a bye in the last week. He went from playing to win game 10 a year ago because he had a chance to knowing he had no chance this year and going 180 degrees opposite and completely bagging this game. Sad, sad, sad.

As I said previously, he's the coach and gets to make the decisions. He then gets to live with the consequences. Tonight he gave the entire Ryle community a black eye.

For the record, I don't know Bryson. Never met him. Could be a great guy and I will assume he is until I hear otherwise. He simply needs to re-evaluate where his program is going and what he needs to do to get it back.

For Ryle to have any chance at makeing a run in the playoffs they will need everyone. So let's see, play a bunch of banged up starters against the second best team in the state in a meaningless game or rest them for the playoffs. Easy choice for me and most I would think.

Fine.

Then explain how a program that had 80 players 2 years ago now has 50 or so players. Enrollment is about 1500.

Why the drop?

Fine.

Because there are 30 less players on the team? Who knows. Why does Henderson have 2100 kids and only 50 on the team? Everyone use to say it was Duffy running kids off but Clay hasn't been able to get the numbers up since he's been here. What does that have to do with Ryle resting banged up players?

So much for Ryle getting momentum going in to the playoffs and hoping to get to a Scott County game that they might win.....

Let's be realistic. Ryle's chances of winning this one were slim and none. Doesn't resting key players give them a better chance in the playoffs?

Did I say that my sole complain was with resting players? Re-read my original statement.

Sorry, but your complaint in the update thread was entirely about them resting players. You come in and shift it to the "state of their program". Their having a down year, so what. Public schools whose student base is fixed will have more down years then up. Just the way it is.

Beechwood and Highlands just called. They disagree with your public school assessment.

Ryle has all of the resources they need to compete annually in 6A. They are not lacking in any area when it comes to factors determining success. It has nothing to do with "public."

I am looking at this from a "program building" perspective. Not just this season.

Maybe he'll come back with a strong team the next couple of years and force me to remove my foot from my mouth. We'll see.

How many TDs did PT have tonight?

And you would be wrong. Highlands may be the only exception. Ryle has 1500 kids drawn from a poll of 1500 kids. If you think any public outside of Louisville has a chance to annually compete in 6A your wrong.

HHS's Hayes sure looked good. Very fast and it was nice to see him deliver a pretty vicious blow while carrying the ball. Good stuff.
