Plus you "share" your speed with neighbors on Zoomtown. During peak times you would see the speed slow down at times. That doesn't happen with Fiber Optics.

We switched from Insight to Direct a few months ago. We got a really good deal thru a Sam's club promotion. They have Reps in the stores on certain days.

Not a problem.

 

I pay $40/mo. for internet (10/20).

 

I have the Choice Xtra Plus plan with HD DVR and 3 extra receivers, HBO, and the maintenance plan, which has paid for itself and then some. With tax, tag, and title it comes to $138/mo. I know it's a little pricey, but it's been well worth it to me.

My parents will switch daily from DirecTV and Dish. Each one will offer deals and incentives such as 'x' amount of months with discounted prices and free movie channels. When those deals are up, mom will make the switch. It saves them a decent amount of money each year.

I've had DTV for over a week and I like it. The Sunday Ticket for free is enough to sway my decision plus the fact that I'm paying $50 less a month than cable for the first year.

I've had both of them and I'm sticking with Direct. I very seldom have a loss of reception (with Dish I would lose reception when the wind would blow) and I am very satisified with the technical assistance and service response when needed.

I don't know all the details. I have no idea how long she will keep one over the other. All I know is that in the past 7-8 years, they have had Dish and DirecTV numerous times.

I've had Dish for about 8 years. Never really had any major problems. I have 3 HD receivers, 1 with DVR and America's Top 200 package with HBO and service protection plan. Monthly bill is about $115.00 per month. To me Sunday Ticket is not that big of a deal. Whenever I at my friends houses who have the service all we do is flip channels trying to find a game with something going on. With Dish you can get Red Zone for about $7 more per month during the season. Everything that I want to watch is available in HD with the exception of ESPNU.

 

A few weeks ago, I had the roof on my home replaced. The contractor had to remove the dish and when he reinstalled it, it wasn't alligned properly. Called Dish Network and they had somebody at my home within 3 hours and there was no charge. Never had any issues with customer service, but it seems that there are many who report that they have. Loss of signal during storms is not nearly as big an issue as it used to be. Anymore it is a pretty rare occurance.

 

Still have internet through Time Warner Cable. It is my understanding that any of the dish based internet providers are fairly slow, but never really used one so just have to go off of what I have heard.
