Western is not good. Towels is light years better than last year. He can throw to all levels of the field. That bomb was one of the most beautiful balls you'll ever see. The catch was even better. #4 is super fast, but its his ability to cut at top speed that is the most impressive. They will beat CovCath by 40.

Great to hear that Collinsworth saw some action tonight. How did he look?

 

Honestly, not good in my opinion. Never really ran a route hard. Just kind of cruised up field, like he was just taking the defender deep to take him out of the play. But he didn't seem like he was hustling, or was very intense. After the first couple of times I thought that maybe they were setting the defender up for a blazing fly pattern, but Towles never even looked his way.

I've been telling my Covington friends that all week and have been getting blasted. But for the rivalry aspect, I could see a running clock.

I don't think you can have a running clock in the first half..

 

You can now have a running clock at any point in the game. I believe this is the first year of that rule.

Clock didn't keep running at 49-0 first half so I would guess it doesn't start until second half.

 

I believe it is supposed to.

I saw the PT-to-Sheehan TD pass. That was a heave.

UK needs to pony up and give Oz "the wizard" Sheehan a FULL SCHOLLY before some other D-1 school scoops him up (hint, hint UC). Blazing speed, precision routes, and great hands....what mo' you need?

It is somewhat of a joke each week. The running joke is if you miss the first 3 minutes of the game you may miss the game cuz its over by then. Literally I walked up to the game with a buddy who lives nearby and started walking at 7:25pm.....by the time we got a block away I heard the horns going off. Then about 2 minutes later heard another set of horns. It was 14-0 before you could finish your hotdog. We went ahead and walked in and I am glad I did.

 

I saw the best catch by a WR in a HS football game EVER when Sheehan hauled in that bomb from Towles. He was streaking down the right sideline, clearly beating his man but Towles launched a rocket that looked to be an overthrow. Sheehan had to look over his outside shoulder in the lights and he snagged it with his sticky hands at the last second and kept running in stride all the way down the sideline for a TD. UNREAL !!!

 

The Highlands Defense was very very aggressive tonight. I saw Devin and Drake Bruns just attacking all night long. Those two are clearly the best defenders on this team. DL Brendan Houston had a great game as well, he doesnt get much press.

 

Colin Seidl just outran everyone on the WEstern Defense on his two TD runs. He is the HS version of Darren Sproles.

I was at this game until halftime . Whomever the poster was that said these two would be in the state finals , needs to go to the library and read about high school football.

 

The first half of this game was horrible for both teams .Fumbles on the punt returns , penaltys for both teams , seemed like there was a penalty every other play. There were some bright spots for the Birds. The long pass play in the second quarter was nice , PT threw it from the eight yard line and hit Sheehan on stride at the Western thirty. Sixty two yards in the air right on stride.

 

Hahahaha! Tough crowd. HHS scores 49 and they played horrible. Those miscues only kept HHS from scoring more. Other than the incompletions, I don't think there was a single HHS play that didn't get multiple yards. It really was easy. Well it wasn't easy per say, the boys made it easy. That was a fun game.

 

Oh and for Clyde, I never get bored. I love seeing HHS score and score and score.

 

On a side note, passed by the Towles family home on the way to my home across the creak here, and there is a full size front door picture of Patrick in action. Pretty Sweet!!!!!

Highlands is in rarified air at this point in the season. The line did a tremendous job. Luke Turner is making catch after catch and no one in Northern KY or anywhere else in the state can guard Austin Sheehan. I know the John McCanns and Lindsey Grahams of BGP are going to be upset, but go ahead an order the rings!

Been thinking the same thing since last week. The rivalry aspect is the only thing that gives me hesitation.

Glad that Trinity took it easy on HHS in the scrimmage! Wow, how bad would this beating be in real season? Feel sorry for Cincy St. X. Recruiting is AWESOME this season. Hope Calipari can take a lesson from Beatty!!!
