If you don't think uniforms and manufacturer affiliations don't have an impact on a kid and recruiting you're not paying attention. For the universities, I doubt they'd ever had a kid say they weren't going there because they don't like the colors/uniforms. However, there are quite a few that will go to a school because of the "gear". Which, is why you don't see any Reebok, Puma...etc. schools.

What's so good about the hazmat clown suits. Those things really helped Oregon against LSU last night, in the NC game vs. Auburn and done trick to push UGA vs. Boise last night. Maybe they are recruiting for a style show instead of a football team. lol

So the uniforms lost those teams the games? If that's your argument then Oregon's unis got them an undefeated regular season and to the NT game.

Just facts from kids going to play college athletics.

I love the uniform changes, though I didn't care for Georgia's (the red on red was too much). I can understand Alabama, Notre Dame, etc. sticking with the classic look and it works well for those schools. But, how many teams can claim to be wearing the same uniform (or close) as the original teams did? I say keep up with the times. It's only a matter of time before the NFL moves that direction - their uniforms are about as bland, stale and untraditional as it comes.

Look at the multiple uniforms from Oregon alone. All I can say is if College or NFL fans need these uniform changes to stay interested in the game then maybe a nice reality show is in order for them.

I really don't think football fans are fickle enough to stop or start watching due to the uniforms. It's simply an aesthetic thing. I think Oregon has set the standard with their uniforms and as teams have warmed up to trying something new and attempted to follow Oregon's lead there's going to be some trial and error as well as some homeruns. Some teams have really botched it and some teams have nailed it and there is still a lot of potential out there. Over time I imagine they'll get better at it.

Ducks have a lot of cred built up through the recent years and it's tied to both unis and on-field performance.

IMO this is no different than colleges spending a lot of money on non-academic improvements to recruit more kids. Kids are looking for the "wow" factor when they are choosing their colleges.

I guess Bear Bryant would have loved Mark Ingram wearing gloves with big the big "A" on each? Is that a slight change? Sure, but I would bet it caught kids' eyes. Some are extreme and some aren't, but they are all changing.

I'll agree with that.

It would be nice if they'd just pick one home and one away uniform and stick with it for at least a few years. I can even go with a second home uniform for special games, but other than that, it's overkill.

That may be, but what should be the "wow" factor should be the education they can get and a program that might get them to the next level. Tells me how much kids have changed and not necessarily for the better.
