September 1, 201115 yr I feel real confident in his ability to hit in the majors. Not much doubt about that for me. Most Reds fans feel confident every prospect will be a really good hitter. Then they get here and we remember it's not that easy. I feel safe saying he needs to prove he can hit. Hard to prove it if you don't get AB's. I felt confident Bruce would hit for a good average in the majors and Brandon Larson could hit. See where this is going?

See where this is going? Bruce will. He's only 24. He's only going to get better and better over the next couple years. Once he hits 27-28 is when we'll know what type of hitter Bruce is going to be. My guess is a .280-.290 average, 30-35 HR, 95-115 RBI a year guy.

September 1, 201115 yr Did you really just compare Jay Bruce and Brandon Larson? Yes. Thats exactly what I did. I guess since you can't comprehend words I will say that just because Alonso has had a good 50 AB's it doesn't mean he will hit in the majors. Didn't most people think Larson would hit here when he was a prospect?

It would have been nice for Alonso's learning to have began when he came up this year. Alonso is probably already close to 24
September 2, 201115 yr Mesoraco will catch bullpen sessions the first couple days to "get acclimated"....Dusty you're an idiot.Honestly, I wouldn't catch Mesoraco a lot in September ... he played 120 games in Louisville, and I figure that few, if any, were as a DH. I would limit Mesoraco's innings behind the plate, just to save some wear and tear, maybe catch him 2-3 times a week and give him some at-bats as a pinch-hitter.

Didn't most people think Larson would hit here when he was a prospect? Larson's minor league stats look to be similiar with Juan Francisco's. Personally, I don't think Juan Francisco has a future in the big leagues either. Alonso has a much better eye than either of those and just more talent in general offensively. Comparing Brandon Larson's ability to Jay Bruce's is laughable...
