August 12, 201115 yr At some point the GM needs to step in and say "2013." No reason for Sappelt to not be in their every day for two months. So are we already throwing in the towel for 2012?
August 12, 201115 yr Told you so. Sappelt gets the day off to get acclimated to their LF. Explain that one Dusty guys. Come on. Everyone knows the ball comes of the bat different with the Padre players.
August 12, 201115 yr Everyone knows the ball comes of the bat different with the Padre players. I had heard that the sun was at a different angle than he's used to.
August 12, 201115 yr Thankfully football is finally here. Yeah, we're all so optimistic about the Bengals season.:lol:

August 13, 201115 yr Another great offensive showing by the Reds who manage to eke out a come from behind win with only 5 hits resulting in 5 runs. Sure glad there is no problem with the offense on this team. Arroyo pitches valiantly after giving up 2 early runs and suffering an early tweak of his knee thanks to another bad throw by our MVP first baseman. Bruce with the big 3 run bomb in the 8th after the intentional walk to Votto. Maybe Bruce can get hot the next month and keep the ghosts out of the stands at GABP.

Can we let that die once and for all?
August 13, 201115 yr I saw this quote about the Cubs and playing time for prospect Tyler Colvin and immediately thought about the Fred Lewis comments on here yesterday. Cubs manager Mike Quade said Tyler Colvin will have to earn playing time rather than have it be given to him because the team is well out of the playoff race. "I won’t throw my veterans, who have been battling all year, [on the bench],’’ Quade said. "Especially Reed [Johnson] — what a year he’s had — and say, ‘You’re going to sit down for a week.’ No... And these kids will get their at-bats and opportunities, but to me it’s not just, ‘Here it is, go get it and the rest of these guys can watch you play.’’’ GM Jim Hendry said the reason Kosuke Fukudome was dealt was to get a two-month evaluation period on Colvin, but evidently he and Quade don't see eye to eye in that regard. I guess Dusty isn't the only one.

I guess Dusty isn't the only one. And Quade will follow Dusty as a former Cubs manager.
