August 11, 201115 yr Not that we have a clear better option, but I'm sick of seeing Janish. He's been a AA caliber player at best this year. .230 batting average with literally no power, and 2nd most errors on the team. I know that if Cozart didn't get hurt we probably wouldn't be watching him, but I just can't take any more of him.Shortstops make errors ... that's the nature of the position. His fielding percentage is right about the league average and his range factor is above the league average. The two rating systems I've seen have him above average. Janish is never going to be a decent major league hitter ... that was obvious by his minor league stats. But he's there for his glove, which isn't bad. If you're blaming certain players for the Reds' collapse, he shouldn't be all that high on the list. He's producing about what he should be expected to produce.
August 11, 201115 yr Another lackluster night offensively, 7 hits and 3 solos. Renteria, Votto and Bruce provide the offense with 3 dingers and 5 of the 7 hits. This team just doesn't string hits together at all.

Where in my post did I even hint that he was the reason for the Reds' collapse? I just don't want to see him on the Red's roster. He's garbage. :idunno:

August 11, 201115 yr He's not great, but he's not garbage, either. He's been an average defender this season at best. No home run power at all while batting in the .220s with a .277 slugging %. He's garbage, not a Major league caliber player. :deadhorse:
August 11, 201115 yr He sucks. He is a decent option to fill in once or twice a week but that's about it.
August 11, 201115 yr He sucks. He is a decent option to fill in once or twice a week but that's about it.Exactly. He has a place on a major league roster as a utility infielder, but that's about it.

Let's be honest. It's the only reason he's in the majors.
August 11, 201115 yr Will Cueto bounce back after his last outing? Yes, he had food poisoning his last start and felt like he was going to puke the whole time he was pitching. CG shutout today.
August 11, 201115 yr I'd far prefer Dontrelle Willis at the dish than Paul Janish. And who would you prefer at shortstop?
