I firmly believe Lexington Catholic pairs up well with Trinity. I'm still looking for a quote that was seen in the Lex. paper from Trinity's coach concerning LexCath and his thoughts on their run for a state championship. (Any help would be appreciated)

I tried to stay up with Trinity-St X on radio, but family obligations stopped most of this. I do understand they played with a lot of heart and earned a hard-fought victory, no question about them best in 4A, but that does not make them the automatic state best.

Actually, it's the rest of the Final 8 I question. St. X seemed to be going downhill over the second half of the season, NCC certainly had a convincing win, and I never saw Russell play.

Without any doubt Trinity proved they are the best team in state. It was an amazing game to watch. Reminded me of the '02 championship against Male, but in a sense of defense instead of offense. Trinity and St. Xavier (even though they lost) proved to be the best teams in the state and a match-up against any lower class teams would be a joke.

I'd say that you are maybe right about ST X and Trinity being the best but you go overboard saying any lower class teams would be a joke. That implies that any game would be a blowout.

Lex Cath played well and took St X to the wire in this season only to lose on a last second field goal. That was hardly "a joke" of a game. The same is true with their game vs. Bowling Green this year.

I don't know about the other classes but AAA would have given the AAAA at least a game in most circumstances. :thumb:

As to the LexCath question, heres my two cents. I saw LexCath/BG. I was impressed with LexCath's passing game. I really saw no reason to think they had a running game or could stop the run. BG turned the ball over and put themselves in a deep hole early. This caused BG to try to do something the couldn't, pass. This allowed LexCath's smallish defenders to attack a passer that was already out of his comfort zone. I will say that LexCath really stepped it up this year and finally lived up to the hype. That being said, I feel that either Trinity or X could control the ball and defeat the knights. But of course this is JMO. I'm afraid we will see how LexCath compares to the Big Two in real games in the very near future as members of the same district.

Israel # 34 & Burke both ran well Saturday morning. I think LC would put up 3+ TD's vs. Trinity, but Trinity would be able to run the ball some. LC's defense really played better the last couple of weeks though.

Bottom line-it would be a great game to see. But I'll go with the senior DI QB, and I think 2 DI WR's.

I agree with you LSU that LC's defense had problems stopping the power run this year, but by playoff time, some adjustments were made that gave the kids a chance to be as sucessful as they were. They were able to play with 8 or 9 nearly every snap in the box, as thier man coverage was incredible during the title run. And if I remember right, St. X was up 2 or 3 TD's at the end of the first half or begining of the second half. Harrison Co. was up 17 in the 4th Quarter. The defense was able to stop two pretty good ball control ground offenses then. And they do have a great RB in Israel. That kids juke move from the news highlights agianst Rockcastle was incredible. Does any Knights fan know if he had 1,000 yards? If what I saw is correct, he finished the year with 3 straight 100 yard games (Highlands, Rock, BG)

How could you have Russell over NCC. newport just about beat Russell, and NCC killed Newport, and NCC wasn't even playing as good then as they were to end the year.

Lex Cath can run the ball. They ran on Trinity in the scrimmage and on St X when they played. Isreal had 175 yards vs Highlands. He would have had a huge game vs Bowling Green if he was fed the ball. I'd love Lex Cath vs X and Trinity again but we will never know. They all had a great year!

And you know this how??? I suppose you are a player. Please!!!! Numbers mean nothing. Just because one team beat another means nothing. That's why these boys play on Friday and we argue it here on the internet.

I think outside of Trinty and LC, NCC is/was playing the best football in the state. I don't think NCC could beat either of the 4A participants and probably wouldn't beat LC. But I could see them playing/hanging with BG. As for the remaining teams, it would be very, very hard for them to take down the 'Breds. Not saying impossible, but would be more on the fluke side if it happened.

Any game played between NCC and my bottom 4 picks would be very interesting and entertaining.
